  1. I said Ewing was adept at fade-away jump shots; not 3ptrs or dribbling in general. Ironically, the fade-away is a common post-up move that you want Giannis to do more of. Giannis is obviously MUCH more athletic and a better ball handler than Ewing or Shaq. I don't see any issues with Giannis bringing the ball up the court from a skillset point of view. He isn't turning it over, he is capable of pressing his defender... whether or not this is the best way to start our offense is a different question. But his has the skill to handle it. Shaq or Ewing even trying that would've been laughable. Durant is certainly a much better shooter; no doubt. But for the typeof player, they are similar. Same with Garnett. I don't want Giannis chuck 3s like Harding or Curry. And certainly probably needs to lay off in the playoffs. But his shot is still improving. It is, IMO, a necessary evil to complement his driving ability; just so he keeps it at logical times and number of attempts. This year he averaged just over 1.0 per game, which isn't too much. But I agree he has launched it at some questionable times. One thing that still amazes me is that Giannis is only 26 this year. I forget how young he is and how much growth potential he still has.
  2. Patrick Ewing was quite adept at fade-away jumpers. But you are massively mis-characterizing Giannis by comparing these three. Did Shaq or Ewing drive to the basket and eurostep around people for dunks? Their games are very, very different. Giannis is probably much closer to Durant or Kevin Garnett. As for his 3pt shooting, I wouldn't mind if he backed off in the playoffs, but that shot is massively improved from 2-3 years ago. If he is to evolve as a player and reach his peak, he needs to keep developing it. If he can get up to 33-35% with that, he reaches another level as a player.
  3. A lot depends on Love himself... if he is ready, he is ready. Last year was not ideal for his development, but he did get to see a season's worth of preparations and game day changes.
  4. Really depends on how bad it was too... Might've been precautionary in the first game. Plus, the adrenaline of the game might help mask the pain (for short term anyway).
  5. So what if this is a HUGE ruse? Maybe Rodgers just decided to retire and instead of put the spotlight on Love, he and Gute came up with this big story to keep him in the shadows to develop. Then come the regular season, it will all come out as a big joke on the national media. /half-blue...
  6. I'm in the same boat with RRB. If he takes a hard line (i.e. Gute is fired), then it is time to go. My guess is that they will make up and play this season. Then the drama repeats next year...
  7. If a batter wants to stand and watch, flip his bat, then walk back to the dugout without running the bases...I'd be fine with that. I've played a fair amount of softball in my life, but since moving to MN, its the first time I've seen HRs not run the bases. Of course, it doesn't really effect me...
  8. Gotcha.... If I'm going inside, I always pay inside. [sarcasm]But how un-Wisconsin of you to hate Kwik Trip![/sarcasm] I'll admit that I've parked at the pump once or twice when all the parking spots where full and there is no where else to park (i.e. along the side or wherever). But it certainly is my last resort.
  9. I've debated how it works if you fill your car and move it... If someone starts filling at the same station before you pay, does that flag it as a drive-off?
  10. Rodger's cap would be just over $22M this year and $25.5M the next two years for a team acquiring him on the current contract. Take a look at the yearly cash number: https://www.spotrac.com/nfl/green-bay-packers/aaron-rodgers-3745/
  11. Well, there is the case of mass extinction. [sarcasm]Some of this offseason has me cheering that one on...[/sarcasm] *Sorry, no 2021 version*
  12. It will be interesting if seeing Gutierrez twice in a week will help our chances against him. Also, I wonder "which Lauer" will show up today. He has looked good up to his last start.
  13. Considering this was written about Elgton Jenkins, perhaps no one's draft evaluation skills as a fan are perfect. [sarcasm]But, but, but... what if we could've dropped down 3 spots and still gotten Jenkins? We reached![/sarcasm] Sorry, but this whole discussion on reaching has gotten a bit silly. We are trying to judge GM's drafting by internet mock drafts by people that couldn't get hired to actually draft players. Even if someone is "one round too early" if that person is the best player drafted until our next pick, we made the right pick. People complain about the Packers trading down and not picking TJ Watt then complain about the Packers picking the player they want too soon. If they are good at drafting players... it means they are drafting them at the right spots. If they are missing on players, then that is when we should be complaining about their drafting. [sarcasm]Of course, I just watched the first show of Loki, so maybe they can help us fix the sacred timeline and go back and draft Degura a round lower.[/sarcasm]
  14. Not really the worst thing in the world. He can still participate in camp and preseason games. It essentially turns into a 54th roster spot that allows them to either evaluate someone else the first two weeks, or gives them insurance at the TE position should there be an injury. It's somewhat likely that Sternberger wouldn't crack the top 3 TEs (Tonyan, Lewis, Deguara/Daffney) coming out of camp, but who knows where the health is going to be at that position by Week 3? Wow, that is really looking for that silver lining. For the non-positive view... it is really a bad indicator on a guy that has been struggling to see the field. Guys only get so many chances.
  15. I survived my first 24 hr fast! It was much easier this attempt as I was working... bad day of work = good distraction from eating.
  16. [sarcasm]But what if we simply drafted all three of those guys with our 5th, 6th, and 7th round picks? Then we gained additional 1st-4th round picks![/sarcasm] No one knows how it would roll out if we didn't trade up. Certainly not us arm-chair GMs (as fun as it is). Saying someone is a reach is a complete guess because there are only 32 people actually picking (for real)... and even they will miss at times. Remember that Tony Mandarich wasn't a reach... Best we can do is see how the players picked play out and see if they did it right a few years down the road.
  17. As someone said above, there were a lot of moving pieces. I don't think anyone would debate that MM's scheme was stale nor the effort in learning MLF's new system wasn't an immediate transition. But you also have a 35/36 year old QB potentially showing signs of age. That isn't suddenly a new thing. We could pull up our own conversations back then and many (myself included) were wondering what was going on. Not only had his numbers slipped (not off the cliff, but declining), but he was visibly looking off. I remember a number of passes 4' over the WR's head. His deep passes were very different than years prior. He said much of that was on his footwork that he worked to correct. But that narrative of concern about an aging QB was present then too. No matter how much Rogers wants to play until 40+, if his body can't keep up, there isn't anything he is going to be able to do to stop it. Age is undefeated. I want him to play as long as he can, but not many QBs have made 40.
  18. But is he in the best shape of his life?
  19. You want to bring Beer to the Brewers? I'm in. 100%. Riley Pint just retired from the Rockies organization. Mmmm, Pint of Beer. Blake Stein retired from pitching back in 2002. At 6'7", he'd be a big Beer Stein
  20. Good thing he's right handed. Doh! I knew it was too perfect... I must've been remembering Overbay's batting stance instead.
  21. The more this goes on with Rodgers, the more it seems like an excuse to skip the offseason like Favre used to do. Second verse, same as the first. A little bit louder and a little bit worse!
  22. Wow, this is a massively disappointing graphic... Our entire starting lineup except Huira is filled by waiver claims and minor league free agents.
  23. Rated below average the last 3 years: https://packerswire.usatoday.com/2021/06/08/packers-planning-to-sign-veteran-lb-devondre-campbell/ There is a reason he is available this late in the FA season. I'd consider him like any of the late FA ILB adds we've had recently: An Emergency backup veteran.
  24. Pulled pork is about a 12-hour cook plus a couple hours to rest, so something to consider if you want that for lunch. Yeah, I'll re-emphasize this point. If you want "convenience", you don't want to smoke. Smoke is low and slow; it takes time. My fastest smokes (i.e. a turkey) still take 3 hours (and technically 300 degrees for a turkey might not really be "smoking"). Smaller pork butts can go 8 hours or a brisket split in half (the thick way) can be 6 hours. But generally, you have it going all day.
