  1. The problem is, they basically pushed a cap woe from 2021 to 2022 at this point. Say what you will about the cap in 2022, but it's undeniable that there's uncertainty about what it will be. Will it go up? Yes. But how much? The Packers are at $202 million, I believe, without their best defensive player and arguably best offensive player under contract as of yet. If that cap number only goes up to, say, $215 or $220, they've again got to finagle a mess of contracts. As such, I'm sure the option of going the 'Seattle' route to extending the window is on the table- surround a young, cheap QB with a solid overall team and hope to win a title that way. You use the $23 million you save on Rodgers to avoid a cap disaster, and you use whatever capital you get as a result from moving him as an additional way to solidify the team. It's a viable, potential way to keep their window of contention open. If the cap number goes up more significantly, then they can truly choose between that and keeping Rodgers. But it keeps your hand from being somewhat forced if it doesn't. Somewhere I posted the numbers for the last 20 years for QBs that have won the SB on their rookie contract and it was pretty low. The higher common thread was having a HOF level QB (which we have). Nearly all of the QBs that won the SB on their rookie contracts were HOF level QBs. So what is more probable? That Love will be a HOF level QB (statistically that is very low) or winning with Rodgers (who is already a HOF level QB playing at a MVP level)? But I'm sure everyone would hope Rodgers would give us a discount double-check! The Rodger's rate certainly doesn't help.
  2. I agree with the general direction of the discussion about Rodger's longevity, but think there is low risk in planning for a two year window. I think Rodger's poison pill (cap hit) comes next year. If they were to extend him so that the big increase gives us two more years of Rodgers, while adding more weapons around him, I think that would be the sweet spot.
  3. I'm not sure how he sticks around. He looks completely spent. His FB lost velocity a couple years ago and it hasn't recovered.
  4. [sarcasm]What if his heart grew 3 sizes?[/sarcasm] Yeah, I have no interest in Brown.
  5. Average for CB at the 2020 combine was 7.01 seconds. At the 2019 combine it was 6.93 seconds. I'd say Wildgoose's number was pretty much average for the position. Got a link? NFL Savant has the average 3-code drill for CBs at 6.88s. 7.01 is right around average for a safety. A 7-second cone drill isn't great for a CB or WR, whose game is predicated on cutting on moving. I think Kahlil Mack had a 7-second cone drill.
  6. Regardless of the truth, it is unlikely that anyone is going to make a large play for Watson (or any play?) with the accusations over his head.
  7. I'd hope if they could get Golladay for 1/$10M, they'd go do another extension or something to find the $10M. I know they are working to prevent too much getting dumped into future years, but wow, that'd be a big win.
  8. I could see Potter getting a look. Highly doubtful on Potter. He may be a look in Europe but that's about it. The only NBA potential on the team is Johnny Davis. I'd think Trice has a legit shot. He isn't huge but certainly looks like a player otherwise.
  9. True. Has some height and a nice shooting stroke (3pt and FT).
  10. The game didn't... the power blue did. So a whole season of losses with me watching is finally paid back with a big win! I hesitated watching, but this was the first game they won with me watching.
  11. Yeah, I wasn't expecting a 1st rounder (like DDV), but whether he makes it as late 2nd or an UDFA. 3point shooters in the NBA are a bit like left-handed pitchers in the MLB.
  12. Is Davison NBA material? At 6'4", he kind of reminds me of DDV - 3pt shooter, hustle, defense, rebounding. Granted, he seems to stink whenever I see him, but if he is shooting 38% three-pointers this year...
  13. yeah, that turned quickly. Now Watson is probably "stuck" with Houston (if he is can play at all) with no one around him.
  14. Remember that we have Green on our team because someone cut him off of their 40-man roster and no one offered him a better deal than we did. Ray is only on the 40 man because we are giving him every shot to rebound, but more than likely he will go the same direction as Green's original team. Other than that, there isn't any point on comparing the two. The Brewers can keep Green without putting him on the 40 man and that flexibility is what they will want to retain.
  15. DDV got a lot of time there last night and looked decent doing it. Not sure how he would hold up against a good defensive PG...
  16. That is a pretty disappointing cone drill for a CB where cutting and changing directions are so critical.
  17. I find it doubly funny that signing Dalton is at least one reason for the need to cut Fuller.
  18. [sarcasm]Meh.. so he hits as good as a pitcher...[/sarcasm]
  19. Was COVID an advanced level of intermittent fasting?
  20. I can't think of a single person that isn't happy for our offense with Jones back. But if it means we can't repair the OL, DL, CB and other spots with serious holes... I think that is where people hesitate. If we were still $20M under the cap, I don't think anyone would worry about the residual impacts of signing Jones.
  21. Has anyone seen any information on the effective length of the shot or of having COVID itself? I heard of one person getting COVID twice, but nothing really more on it. Just curious if this is going to be an annual event like the flu shot now.
  22. Urias has time to get ready for the season, but if we started today, I don't know how he wouldn't be sent to AAA to start. He has been injured and hardly played anything. But I'm pretty certain that if he is ready, he is going to get every chance at SS. Urias hasn't shown much at the MLB level, but he is pretty much the same as Arcia to this point. Both can still improve, but I'd bank more chance of Urias doing it than Arcia at this point: Career: Urias: 226/315/320/635 73 OPS+ Arcia: 244/295/366/660 73 OPS+ Arcia was better last year, but Urias' hammate injury and COVID analysis might have been pretty impactful: Urias: 239/308/294/602 64 OPS+ Arcia: 260/317/416/734 95 OPS+
  23. Giannis FT splits: Dec (5 games): 62.2% Jan (13): 58.2% Feb (15): 74.7% Mar (5): 80.0% Not only that, but he looks much more comfortable and smooth on his shot more recently. Certainly a huge improvement.
  24. Ha! Nah...just bored and speculating. Seeing if anyone would agree. And I don't see an excess of supremely athletic Tackles being a problem in the near future. I thought it was funny because I was just looking back at Nijman's draft profile and thinking about his potential when I see you post about a massive trade-up to draft a tackle. And I knew you were a fan. I'm not as high at the need for a tackle as others. For one, I think it is easier to find a vet RT to step in. And I'm eating my words from last year that Turner was actually good at T. So if we Bahk,Turner,Warner-like vet, 4th round OT, I think we are covered there. Of course, that assumes appropriate injury progress on Bahk's part. IMO our needs in order of priority: [sarcasm]Punter: Kidding, not kidding.[/sarcasm] CB - I think this is pretty clearly our highest need. King is a FA, Sullivan is potentially (if we don't tender a 2nd round, which isn't a given). Neither was great last year. Jaire island secures the one side, but we currently have Jackson, Hollman, and some PS level players at a position where 3 CBs are typically considered starters. Even if Sullivan is retained, there is a need for a starter and depth. A two CB draft (one high, one low) is not out of the question. WR - This one is a sneaky need. WRs take time to develop most of the time. We have Adam (top tier WR) and a bunch of question marks. I think Lazard and MVS have potential to be #2 WRs, but have a ways to go to get there. Lazard has had injury issues. MVS is developing, but still very inconsistent and doesn't have much for a short route tree. Funchess was regressing before getting injured one year and sitting out another. Taylor has some athletic potential. St. Brown just doesn't impress me at all - lots of athleticism, but showing nothing for it. So picking a WR is more for next year's needs than this year. DL - This is probably equal to WR and for similar reasons. Unless you get someone early in round 1, it seems like DL take a year or so to be impactful. Obviously, this could change if Lowry is cut. OT - As I said above, I think the wiser move here is a veteran OT and a 4th round draft. We seem to do well in the 4th round for whatever reason. MLB and Safety are also needs to build depth, but I wouldn't be looking at a first round pick in any case for either of these.
