  1. To help facilitate the discussion, I looked for the average number of PA per spot in the lineup. This data is old (2009), but I doubt the delta between position would change much: NL: 1st - 763 2nd - 746 3rd - 728 4th - 711 5th - 696 6th - 681 7th - 662 8th - 643 9th - 622
  2. From 2016-2019, Dak rushed for 277-357 yards/year. From 2008-2012, Rodgers rushed for 207-356 yds/year. In 2019, Dak threw for 4902 yards. Rodgers has peaked at 4643 yards in a single season (2011). Dak isn't an running QB. He is more of a mobile QB like Rodgers and Wilson. Rodgers rushed for 149 yards this past year and certainly didn't move like he used to. Given his age, I'm guessing Dak will come back more mobile than Rodgers. If he wasn't doing well in recovery, I doubt Dallas would've committed so much.
  3. So how many QBs in the NFL are better than Dak right now? When he first came in the league, I didn't think much of him and though inaccuracy would be his downfall. But the last three years have been very strong for him. I did a quick eyeball comparison with him, Rodgers, and Brady - R&B seem to have a higher TD percentage and a lower INT rate (though Brady this year wasn't great). But yards and percent completion he is right there - Rodgers actually had two very blah years prior to 2020. My NFL QB ranking: Mahomes Rodgers/Brady - I have them neck and neck. Rodgers the better QB, Brady the better leader. Deshaun Watson - Please stay away from the NFC north! Dak Josh Allen - big year last year, but will he sustain? Lamar Jackson - I'm not a fan of running QBs as they don't last long. But when healthy, he is still dangerous. Russell Wilson - Maybe a career lull, but I'm worried he is dropping off. If Dak has another year like 2019 (which 2020 started out pretty close), I don't know how to say he isn't elite in the league...
  4. Does anyone have an idea of Funchess' preferred route tree or particular skillset? As I wrote in the draft thread, MVS needs time to run his routes (deep go routes, longer crossing routes). Lazard has more ability to turn a 5 yard pass out into a bit more (mainly by his size), but still doesn't beat people with his hands/feet off the line very often and I don't recall him running slants often. What I'm describing is obviously Adams. But our offense's kryptonite is a team with a good pass rush and a plan to stop Adams. Tampa "simply" doubled Adams and took their chances with the rest of our WR/TEs because nearly all of them take time to get into their routes. So it really doesn't matter if Funchess doesn't have the speed (which he doesn't) if he can consistently get himself open by footwork, route running, or hands at LOS.
  5. So there is some rumors floating that the Packers are trying to trade P-Smith. He has a $4M roster bonus coming the third day of the NFL season, so that is probably the make/break point. For the incoming team, he would account for $12M in salary ($8M base + $4M bonus). For the Packers, they would save $8M on the cap. So what would a $12M pass rusher be worth on the trade market? I wouldn't think much more than a 6th or 7th round pick. Maybe they can find the right player in return at a source of need (RT/DT/WR/CB)? Either way, it sounds like P-Smith isn't going to stick around.
  6. Bob Uecker is pretty amazing. There have been some times he looks like he is slipping, but today he seemed sharp as ever. Still quick on the one-liners and come-backs. I think Jeff Levering was there with him today and it felt like he couldn't keep up and only chuckle. I hope I'm half as quick-witted when I'm 87.
  7. That is very cool. Yes, I used to watch that show. It was amongst the Pictionary board game craze. Marking that to watch with my wife.

  9. But don't worry. MM will figure it out for them. I'm sure plenty of 3 and 4 WR looks with Zeke sent out wide or pass blocking.
  10. Back to JBJ discussion... [sarcasm]I'm surprised no one has brought up how we can now start 4 OFers and use Arcia and Wong shifted over to cover the infield. Thirdbase problem solved![/sarcasm] I really think JBJ is Cain insurance. In 2019, Cain had an off year... probably injury driven. Then he opts out of 2020. Now he comes back and I'm not sure anyone knows what we will get from him. Maybe the year off helped his body recover and he'll bounce back. Or maybe 2019 was the beginning of decline for him. So at worst, we have JBJ there to fill in for Cain as the starter. At best, JBJ is used a spot starter to give all three guys a break and a late inning defensive replacement for Cain (reduce wear-and-tear in meaningless games) or Yelich. This probably could've been done with Taylor also, but as I said above... I'm thinking he is much more about Cain insurance.
  11. Eye roll at that dad joke. I thought it was pretty funny... and more clever than a typical dad joke. Its pretty typical of my "dad jokes", so I approve! My jokes do have the power to make my teenage son walk get up, walk into the room I'm in, roll his eyes at me, and walk back out.
  12. I love RW, simply for the 1 year as a Badger (boy, to think a "what if" on having him for 4 years there)... But I wonder how he will age as a QB? His game isn't a heavy run game (ala Vick, Newton, Lamar) - more of a Steve Young type. But I wonder how his game changes if he starts becoming less mobile. His INT rate has been up and down through his career and I'm thinking we will see it spike more if he can't move around as much. He still has the issue of being shorter for a QB and has used his mobility to negate that limitation. And if he does go to Chicago, I'll be forced to hope he goes all "Cutler" on them.
  13. Is this in reference to something that actually happened? Did Ben Hendrickson's Dad post on this site? Yes. And was a bit of a jerk. It was cool when BH was doing well. But as it became clear that he was a AAAA player, he really had a hard time with that reality and negative comments.
  14. Just don't think about what the humans did in your home.
  15. While I don't recall being called sir very often when working with people in India, Americans are very much on the informal side of communications compared to the rest of the world. China is on the other extreme and India is somewhere closer to China. Hierarchy is important in those cultures and "acting American" (i.e. using first names) tends to be very disrespectful depending on age, position in the company, customer/supplier relationships. In Korea, people would often ask my age so they new if they were older or younger than me, so they knew how to address me (I was typically older). I generally just told them that I preferred if they acted like we were the same age, so they would feel comfortable using my first name. Just tell the person that you prefer to be called Nate or "Mr Nate" if that makes them feel better.
  16. So... what is your opinion on the JBJ signing? Part of a forum is the discussion... part of the internet is nitpicking... We try to keep the attacks to a minimum; at least compared to other boards.
  17. [sarcasm]Well that seals it. No need to talk about the draft anymore.[/sarcasm] Yeah, Gute certainly has his "types", but they still can be surprising (i.e. first 3 rounds of the last draft or the trade down/trade up year for Jaire). And being an armchair GM is just fun anyway.
  18. Yes, not resigning Cook and going with Bennett and Graham was an incredible FA debacle... I like Rudolph a few years ago and was hoping the Packers might snag him, but I get the feeling he is pretty much done at this point. Kind of redundant with Lewis on the roster.
  19. My first time hearing Ueck this year. Loving it!
  20. Late in 2019, they were using Sternberger in the H-back role and I don't recall his blocking to be terrible. No Lewis, but not Jimmy Graham either.

  24. Taylor staying hot. In his age 27 year, he is doing everything he can to win a spot.
