  1. I didn't watch the game until late last night (living in Viking land I had to wait for the game to be done and watch it on NFL Replay). A few observations: - Despite MVS's fumble, I thought he had a good day. Wouldn't have been in the situation to lose the game if he doesn't make that big catch on the last drive. I'm thinking MVS as the third WR causes many more matchup issues than as a second WR. - Welcome back Lazard. - Time to move on from Darrius Shepherd. I was a big believer that he would make a second year jump, but he hasn't. He provides zero as a WR, no wiggle as a returner, made at least one bad decision - taking the ball out of the endzone, and the fumble. Time to find someone else. - Gary should be starting over P-Smith. He is the only OLB that can set the edge against the run (Z-Smith doesn't do it well either). Preston can come in when Z moves inside. - Rodgers missed a wide-open Tonyan in the endzone on 3rd down of the last drive in regulation. Should've been an easy win and he is going to kick himself for that one. But we played well overall. That interception was very uncharacteristic though. - Runyan at LG. I only recall one play where he allowed a pressure up the middle early (maybe his first drive?). He was sound the rest of the time. Maybe a preview of next year's OL? - Nice to have Jones back this week. Yes, he was came back before, but he looked like full-speed Jones this week. - DB really had some blown coverages today. Very unusual. I wonder if the group was a bit rusty with Alexander and King back this week? King also looked very poor - hopefully it is rust and not injury. - DL actually looked good outside a couple drives. Lancaster was surprisingly good. Clark starting to look more like 2019 Clark. Lowry was still absent. Keke was active, but not impactful. - Kirksey - after a week of attacking the football, he went back to being tentative. Lots of tackles, but downfield. Martin looked good again, but was out late with Summers. - Sternberger looked good - route running, pass catching, blocking. He and Tonyan could be really good together. - Lafleur - There was some brilliant play design/play calling (Tonyan/Sternberger route for the Tonyan TD) and some really "blah" play calling. We had a lot of success attacking the middle of the field in the first half, and nearly abandoned it in the second half (except the last drive). I lay 1/2 the blame of MVS's fumble on him too. Just not a great call for MVS - not his strength. I kept waiting for the MVS jet-sweep which never happened either.
  2. The Bucks signed Forbes - age 27, averaging 11+ pts/game the last two years. Shooting 40% 3ptrs. Seems like a pretty good signing. Torrey Craig seems helpful as a defensive replacement for Wes. Not bad FA signings. I don't see much for a backup C however. Portis?
  3. I figured he was just resting. Or maybe posturing? I wasn't too concerned he would miss this. Anyone see an update on Barnes? He isn't listed on the injury report, but I've not seen anything about him being activated either.
  4. agreed. I've wondered if having HFA in the playoffs - when weather will be bad - will actually help us or not. We really rely on the passing game to open our run game. And I don't need to mention our run defense...
  5. I used height/weight ratio because skeletal measurements aren't available. And no, I'm not saying I can guess his body fat... Yes, I remember all the draft reviews and his athleticism, but watching him play, his frame just looked very different; a much thinner frame. And obviously, he hasn't been able to put on the weight (5 lbs so far). Manute Bol is the extreme, but he still reminds me of him every time I see him; those long spindly arms/legs stick in my mind, but he looks a bit like Bol too (head shape and hair cut). To be fair, Giannis was also a huge long-shot, which is why he lasted to #15. But I'll still contend that he had the better frame to put on good weight.
  6. The real question is if Milwaukee's pitching clinic could unleash anything in Archer. Scouts have seen the potential in him for years, but he never could make it legit.
  7. BF.net contemplating the offseason:
  8. So Olson for Daniel Missaki, Carlos Herrera, and Freddy Peralta? Kind of full circle back to getting a 1B?
  9. Yeah, I know - the studies generally focus on the dishrag that is used to washed counters and left hanging, but damp. Still... If the pizza is good, it MUST be eaten with a fork (because "good" means its deep - its called a pizza pie for a reason ). But the funniest was to go to Germany and watch them eat french fries with a fork. Germans eat very little with their hands. Of course... they don't seem to be having as much problems with COVID as the rest of the world is either.
  10. I think the only value in Ersan at this point was cutting him and reducing the cap hit (for the other team).
  11. You REALLY need to clean your kitchen counter. I know I'd much rather lick my counter than my toilet seat. Plus civilized people use silverware.
  12. Yes, but Wilson (though I'd contend he wasn't a high ceiling guy), Vaughn and even Giannis were different in that they came to the NBA with an "NBA body". Most rookies need to get stronger when they come to the NBA, but precious few 7' guys that have the beanpole body-type are going to succeed. (Manute Bol-extreme example; Shawn Bradley-taller, but still skinny body type) No doubt Thon is talented, but his body type is so slight (7'1", 216lb at draft, 221lb now), he struggles to complete physically with similarly sized players. There was a lot of "hope" at the time Thon was drafted that he'd gain weight/strength similar to Giannis, but you look at the guy's frames and they are very different. My first thought in seeing the guy play was Manute Bol and concerned that he'd never gain the weight needed. That hasn't changed.
  13. Considering the Bucks had two 2nd round picks, it seems like they got some value there. Not surprising they took guys that are excellent at standing 3ptrs. Not much for creating their own shot and limited on defense, but what is expected with two picks so late? Nwora will probably just fill Korver's spot in the rotation (i.e. just stand outside the 3pt line and look slow on defense). Now sign Markus Howard and they'll have a trio of poor defense - three point snipers.
  14. Technically, Giannis was 6'8.5" and 195 when drafted. Him growing to 6'11" after being drafted is highly unusual
  15. No. If they match someone else's offer, the rules treat him as a newly signed FA. They couldn't trade him until the middle of the year.
  16. This apparently went a bit viral (no pun intended) For shame! Take all opportunities to make puns intentional!
  17. I looked up Kaminsky a few weeks ago because I thought he would fit as a backup F/C in our system (3pt shooter/defense), but he is under a club option for 2020-21, so I didn't mention anything. His contract has him at $5M, so similar to Robin's option. If he is let go, I'd assume he might go for a bit less; especially if it is a home-town discount.
  18. Yeah, feel good story on Dekker, but at a career 28% of his three pointers, he doesn't really fit this Buck's team. If you want the WI connection, I think looking back to Matthews is the best choice. Edit - Though in Turkey, he is hitting 56% of his threes (18/32 in 8 games)....
  19. They did draft 2 of the top 10 centers in the league right now.
  20. Had a Kaepernick flashback over this comment. Somewhere, Erik Walden just looked around, bewildered. *Wince* I went to that game.
  21. This is correct. The benches get shorter in the playoffs. And as people have noted, you don't have to fill all 15 of your roster slots. Has anyone let Bud know this? When he looks down his bench and only sees 3 guys sitting there, he'll get a clue.
  22. Seriously guys.. how can you not understand the salary apron? It is simple... It is like a salary cap, but instead of being the top level with no more, its simply tied around the waist and prevents spills! yeah, I have no idea either.
  23. Thanks, I was curious about this very thing. Offensive schemes and players around you can change the game drastically. I was just looking at his profile and wondering. A good 3pt shooter and our defensive scheme (i.e. rarely switching) would probably fit him best for his lack of size.
  24. I got to the second line and am convinced he will become a Buck: Has amazing wingpan (measured at almost 7 feet)…
  25. Worth noting, Amos has rallied very well after his very slow start. PFF now has him ranked as the #15 safety overall, so that rating has climbed significantly over the past few weeks. The Packers do have an out on his contract after this year, but he's a player where I'm not sure you can take the $4 million you save and use that to replace him effectively. [sarcasm]Yes, it seems that players have been putting my posts complaining about their play up on the bulletin board for motivation. So, I'm doing my part.[/sarcasm] I don't think I underrated him, but feel that center is easier to replace... especially than LT. We already have Jenkins and Patrick on the roster that can at least play NFL level. Jenkins could probably play similar to Linsley's level over his career. And if you planned to move on from Linsley because you can't fit them all under the cap, he is doing a great job in improving his draft pick compensation back to the Pack.
