  1. Wow. The honeymoon is over...quickly.
  2. Maybe they're just looking for someone who will teach Tim Anderson to play "the right way". [sarcasm]Well, when the unwritten rules aren't written down, where else do you get them?[/sarcasm] Given our current environment, I'd think there would be some concern of hiring someone that is 76. Hopefully COVID doesn't impact the 2021 season, but if it does... is LaRussa going to be onsite? Would it be wise?
  3. When he signed the extension, most people felt he massively undersold himself. So I doubt the contract will scare many away. Frankly, I think Braun's last contract when he first signed it was far more of a problem than Yelich's is now. I really doubt anyone is going to look at his numbers in 2020 and think this is the new Yelich. I really don't think the Brewers will move Yelich this winter, but they could easily move him if they wanted to. If he continues to play like 2020 in 2021, that might start to get people concerned, but most players are going to get a pass for 2020...
  4. Except that Yelich is still very "movable" with his new contract.
  5. We use Prime for movies more than TV series. They rotate movies fairly often and if you are looking for one specific, rentals for everything is available. And if you delay your shipments on occasion, you can bank electronic media $$ to pay for the rentals.
  6. That was the problem with him in Chicago he is a good safety especially against the run and is a sure tackler. He just doesn't create turnovers though his hands are above average for a safety and he should get more interceptions but never does. I have a lower bar for "big plays". I remember the knock of him for lack of interceptions. But even a key pass knockdown, a big tackle short of the 1st down, or a QB blitz (granted that is partly on play calls). After a year in the system, I expected him to step up a bit, but it looks like he regressed from last year. He is a mostly solid tackler (though he had some issues there too), but he often tackles the player after a big play is completed - kind of like Martinez last year. He gets in position for a pass defense, but still lets the receiver to catch the ball.
  7. No. But since Prime gives you other extras (shipping, music, etc..), it is a good deal anyway.
  8. I would say what you are seeing is 95% schadenfreude because it's the Cowboys and 5% interest to see if Rodgers propped up MM for years, thus wasting most of Rodgers' prime years. I don't think anyone here holds ill-will against Mike the man himself. If you think this is "the worst", you don't spend much time on other forums. Of course, people troll those forums too.
  9. A couple positive shout-outs: -Adams: No, not that one. Montravius. Finally showed up in the game and played well. I've called for his replacement several times over the last two years, but if he can keep that up, he was worth keeping. - Jackson: Yes, he gave up a TD and had a big pass interference. But even on the PI, he got back into good position...just forgot to turn around for the ball. He was also very active with tackling and decent in coverage otherwise. - Barnes: Doesn't have the speed of a White, but he sticks his nose in and makes sound tackles. Hoping to see Martin and Barnes side-by-side soon. And some negative shout-outs: - Lowry: Someone needs to remind him that he has forward gears and not just reverse. He made 5 tackles yesterday, but the big running plays seemed to be right past him each time. - Rodgers: Running scared after the first quarter and his accuracy dropped back to last year's. -Amos: I'm beginning to wonder if he might get cut to save salary cap. For a big veteran signing, he seems very vanilla. Not French Vanilla or even Watkins brand.... Some generic imitation vanilla. He is ok and normally in the spot he is supposed to be. But rarely seems to make any big plays.
  10. I'll third that. You won't get back enough value in a trade to justify it. In reality, if he isn't convinced now, winning the title might be the only thing that could convince him. Either way, with him on the team is probably our best chance at winning a title in the next 10 years.
  11. Honestly, the flatness of the offense is really all about the pressure on AROD. He was under pressure early, but he seemed to understand where it was coming from. After the first two drives, you could see his confidence in his protection continue to dwindle. He started getting happy-feet and a bit jumpy. That is when bad decisions were made and his 2019 accuracy problems returned. But in AR's defense, pressure any QB like that and he will struggle.
  12. Actually, St. Brown got injured the weekend of the first game (possibly in warm-ups). He went in IR the next day. But he was pretty much a non-entity during this game, which isn't surprising given the lack of time with the offense.
  13. I don't know if we'll see the Texans make any deals with their front office and coaching staff in flux. Yeah, but a WR that isn't getting any play with your team, you're having a losing season, and he is going to be a FA. Pretty low-risk move.
  14. So I heard SS/3B Ha-Seong Kim is going to be posted... Anyone interested in him?
  15. Your 2020 number is correct. I wanted to add a note that his run defense rating is an astounding 90.3, best overall for a LB. Thanks, with no subscription, I could only see the overall numbers. I pulled the previous year's numbers from various Packer News articles.
  16. I enjoy a good debate...especially with certain people that are intelligent and have different view points than I. Rarely do either of us change our stance, but knowing why the other person feels that way is a valuable thing to know and learn. But I can't stand with a friend of a friend trolls on facebook to start an argument. If one of my friends does that to another friend that they don't know, I'll immediately end it. Even calling out one friend as a troll after three straight days of trying to pick a political fight with another friend of mine that he doesn't know (I really should just dump that friend...). Several times on another friend's post (one I enjoy debating with), I'll get his friends chime in. I don't bother responding; pearls before swine. Just too many people trying to start arguments this time of year.
  17. Frankly, as a 5th round pick, Linsely himself was originally the "seemingly random guy" plugged in when Tretter was injured and he never looked back. We seem to be able to find centers like that pretty easily all the way back to good ole' bag-o-donuts Frankie Winters.
  18. Since I was looking at Blake Martinez' PFF grade in another thread, I thought I'd look up some FA, rookie, and sophomore MLBers linked to the Pack the last couple years plus who we have. Akeem Davis-Gaither: 39.0 Blake Martinez: 82.1 Christian Kirksey: 31.9 Corey Littleton: 32.1 Danny Trevathan: 33.1 Devin Bush: 58.7 Devin White: 45.4 Joe Schobert: 47.8 Kenneth Murray: 46.8 Krys Barnes: 67.2 Malik Harrison: 54.5 Patrick Queen: 39.5 Troy Dye: 48.1 Willie Gay Jr.: 58.6 Zach Braun: 73.1
  19. I get the feeling that to have a truly dominant defense, you need the elite MLB (along with much else). But many defenses get buy being good without a dominant MLB. Probably why the position tends to be deprioritized. Ray Lewis (though perhaps the best ever) was a major force for a dominant Baltimore defense and a main reason why they won the SB with Trent Dilfer. Likewise, Brian Urlacher with the Bears getting to the SB with Rex Grossman. But run defense is always secondary to the pass, so the MLB position gets knocked down a bit - granted Urlacher was an excellent pass defender too. Kendrick on the Vikings is almost a non-entity with their terrible CBs. I'd still prioritize CBs/Pass rushers first, DL second, Safties/Coverage LBs third, and MLB last on priority. Still, if you find a Lewis or Urlacher, you don't pass them up. Frankly, I still say the easiest way to improve our MLB play for this year is sign Clay Matthews. In the second half of his career, he was much better at MLB where he didn't have to hold the edge and fight big Tackles constantly. Can anyone see where PFF rates Blake Martinez among MLBs this year? Much was made of our system holding him back, so I'm curious where he ranks now. - Edit: With a little digging I found that in Blake was rated: 2018: 74.8, 2019: 57.7 and so far in 2020: 81.2.
  20. Yeah, Bahk has to be the priority. Playing as well as Jones at a far more critical position that is harder to find replacements. I've already given up on King and Linsley based on priorities. A tag on Jones might work. But I wouldn't feel too bad about a small deal for Williams and breaking in Dillon.
  21. I certainly wouldn't call our DL as overspent... A 1st (Clark), 3rd (Adams), 4th (Lowry), 5th (Keke), UDFA (Lancaster) and low cost FA (Wynn) represents our current DL. Out of curiosity, here are the other draft picks we spent in the last 5 years on DL in round 4 or earlier: *end of message* And here are the 5 years prior to that: Thornton (2014 - 3rd round) Perry (2012 - 1st): Was he a DE or OLB??? A bit of a tweener which was part of the problem. Worthy (2012 - 2nd) Daniels (2012 - 4th) Neal (2010 - 2nd) Raji (2012 - 1st)
  22. People from Milwaukee will definitely refer to places like the Wisconsin Dells as "Up North". I have never asked what they would consider Hayward etc. as...probably Canada. As someone that grew up North of Hayward and went to school in Milwaukee, I can answer... yes. They think it is Canada.
  23. It depends on the source of the mistake. The OEM and suppliers can still be liable if the failure is on the design. If it is about maintenance (though the features normally are disabled if something isn't working), then it could be you. Compare the Toyota unintended acceleration issue to someone stomping on the gas. Of course, autonomous vehicles will bring their own level of lawsuits and/or ethics considerations that will be dealt with as they become more popular. FYI, I worked as a software engineer for an automotive supplier for 12 years and also recently did a college ethics course which included decisions made my autonomous vehicles. Interesting stuff.
  24. My local Wal-mart has a rental guard in uniform (mimicking a police uniform) at the entrance. I stopped to talk to one the other day out of curiosity. He said that by law he can't enforce them to wear a mask (HIPPA), but simply being there and mentioning it to everyone (they do mention it to each person without a mask) more people do comply. He said he sees people look at him and turn around to the car and return masked. Or simply take a mask that Walmart supplies (I forgot mine one day). He felt that if a guard wasn't there, very few people would wear one. And he said a few people have gotten nasty with him, but only verbal. No violence, spitting, etc..
  25. I cut the cord years ago and haven't missed it either. We do watch TV every night, but not normally until later in the evening. I have Prime and Hulu (free from phone plan). I get an MLB and NFL replay subscriptions (about $200/year). We watch a few NBA games and normally add Sling for the playoffs, then drop it again. Plus, I have TIVO for OTA programs. My smart TVs also have other misc apps like TubiTV and Roku that has commercial driven free content. Thus, I still have way more than I need. More recently, I deleted all the games from my phone and started focusing on my guitar playing.
