  1. Vaughn plays 3B if we tie or go ahead?
  2. Maybe an opener then. Just get us started and going. Dude throws strikes and seems to be hard to hit. CHOURIOOOOOOOO!!!!
  3. Oh, you missed the massive all team Uno game yesterday... Murphy was down, but battled back for the victory! My days are blurred....🤪
  4. Please feel free to exit the bandwagon. 🙄
  5. So the last time we overcame a 3 run deficit was... *checks notes*... yesterday.
  6. We are also acting like a team that hasn't overcome a 3 run deficit in the first inning...
  7. First playoff start from a 24 year old too. He pitched like a veteran all year, but he is still young.
  8. So Ashby actually did better than Priester. 😔
  9. First playoff game... I'm sure he is a bit amped up. Just get out of the inning and regroup
  10. "Welcome" to the site. 😉 While I don't think anyone thinks 39-9 is sustainable, you can't dismiss it either. They had a nice confluence of health and people playing at their peaks. But we also sustained a lead over the Cubs (and every other MLB team) to the best record in baseball after. Their RS (3rd) and RA (3rd) also support them being far above average. Especially since that gives them the #1 net scoring in the league.
  11. With back-to-back games on the schedule (if necessary), this might be one to let Chourio rest. Let Collins hit lefty against the RH Taillan. Or at least DH Chourio and have Yeli in LF.
  12. I don't think I would bring him back against the Bengals. Let him get some practice in...get a bit more conditioning with practice reps and bring him in a week later. Doesn't seem to be much news out of practice other than who is practicing. Would be nice to get our OL back to 100% - or at least close. Getting Tom and Belton back (depth) would be great. And since we spend money on Banks, actually seeing him play would be nice... but I suspect the delta between Banks and Morgan isn't that high.
  13. Caleb Durbin was in the system during spring training, so not exactly random. Plus, he was a leading candidate for 3B (as much maligned as that decision was). Miz's upside was also known, but maybe that is earlier than most expected. Priester and Vaughn have to be the surprises of the season. Even after trading for them, people wouldn't have thought they would've had much impact on the season other than keeping a spot warm for someone to return from injury.
  14. Took me 3 seconds of research. OPS+ = 100 * ( OBP/lgOBP + SLG/lgSLG - 1)/PF Be ready for Finals... this will be on the test.
  15. I'm failing to understand why this matters.... If you understand the meaning of the advanced metrics and their strengths & weaknesses, does it really matter if you can calculate it with pen and paper? Frankly, if it really mattered, I'm pretty sure many people here could do it with a little coaching. It is just algebra.
  16. Welcome to BF @BaseballGuy17!
  17. I don't know what SomewhereInTime is referring to, but Contreras was at 2nd and could've been in position to see in the glove, wrist angle, or other slight differences in pitch setups. But I didn't see anything from Contreras in the video...
  18. I didn't make it through the whole thing, but the one line that jumped out at me was the "have and have not" line where he inferred that the owner/GM decided to keep the money instead of spend it at the deadline. After being 2x drubbed by the Brewers with $90M less in payroll. More money to spend is nice, but you still need to find the right players.
  19. IF Ashby's pitch to Suzuki was 0.1" higher, we'd be talking about a shutout. There are a lot of "IFs" in the game. Ashby wasn't perfectly sharp, but Suzuki hit a pitch out of the strike zone... which makes it more about him than Ashby. Regardless of whether Ashby was the right call or not... Bush now knows that CC will bench him for a LHSP. That can't feel good for him.
  20. I'm not greedy... just 9 more wins this year is all I need.
  21. A little more of Gomer Pile, IMO. 😉
  22. Now we get Priester in CHI - a ground ball pitcher negating the HR at home. Nice plan.
  23. HAT TRICK for Uribe! Brewers up 2-0!
