    Well, on the positive, we have a 3pt lead on the same number of drives.... Our pass rush disappeared after dominating early.

    One weakness our defense has is the shoulder tackles. If Valentine wraps his arms around Williams instead of trying to blow him up, they'd be kicking a FG instead. A lot of the younger DBs tend to do that. 😡

    Yeah, that one was a bit suspect. I watched the official MLF was running towards and he didn't move until after the false start. But the Wicks and Watson catches were legit...but looked close the way the TV was showing them. Lions fans will complain as if we are getting the Chief's treatment.

    Nope. Your strawman argument was that people here are OK with 2025 Ortiz being our 2026 SS. Quite literally no one is saying that. But thanks for agreeing with us, I guess.

    I don't see anyone signing up for another year of 2025 Ortiz.... I do see: People speculating if he can return to 2024 Ortiz (about average bat with +defense) Comparing 24-25 Ortiz to others to point out that there are limited options to upgrade (though upgrading on 2025 Ortiz alone is much easier) Considering where Ortiz did hit well (e.g. against LHP) to consider platoon options. Considering if Pratt or Made might be ready next year. But nice strawman argument...

    It's been like that for two weeks. Fitzpatrick is the primary in-line blocker. Whyle tends to be more of a FB (or move TE blocker). Musgrave is more obvious passing downs. But even then, seems like Whyle is getting more targets. Though all of them are getting a mix of everything. Musgrave just doesn't do anything really well...

    Exactly. I didn't say they were the same (or even similar) pitchers. I said they had similar results Gray: 4.28 ERA and 1.4 WAR (180.2 IP) Quintana: 3.96 ERA and 1.3 WAR (131.2 IP) Now, swap the defenses they pitch in front of, and the results will change. And of course Sonny is the better pitcher. But the point was that Gray is getting $20M from Boston and Quintana got $4.5M last year (and is available without needing to trade for him).

    I wonder what Quintana will sign for? Sonny pitched more innings last year, but otherwise they pretty much had the same results for the same age.

    I don't think that would be wise money for the Packers. As good as Willis has been, I don't want to see a ton of money wrapped up in the backup QB when you have so much in the starting QB. Maybe the guy can take another step as a starter (especially as a passer). He is an ideal backup because he is a bit of a wild card. When your defense is setup to stop a pass-first QB and a QB with good scrambling capabilities comes in, it really throws your D off.

    And the Bears nearly lost to the Raiders, Commanders, NYG, Bengals, Vikings, and Steelers (with a backup QB)... *checks notes* that is 6 of your 7 wins...

    He was averaging around 31-32% CS rate prior to the injury and 19% at AAA last year. Perhaps he never bounces back to the level he had (which was pretty high), but I wouldn't be surprised if this year is much better. I'd assume the Brewers will bring in some competition for ST at least and see where he is then.

    You could also say that he will be still 27 for half the season (July)... 😂 I think the main question is which Joey will we see this year? Last year's 66 OPS+ or the prior year's 102 OPS+? Somewhere between? I don't think he will "develop" anything more than those two extremes but having him bounce back to being a league average bat would be a great offseason development. And given this will be a prime year for him... not really out of the realm of possibilities either. There aren't many FA options that would be better anyway... If Made keeps tearing the hide off the baseball at AA and Joey is the 2025 version of Joey, I wouldn't shock me to see Made come up late in the season just to see what he could do. More likely we stick with Joey at the start of the season and if he is bad, make a trade for a rental SS.

    I have to admit that I feel bad for McCarthy. He must've felt really bad about his play; his mascara was running really badly. I compared him to Christian Ponder with several of my Viking friends. They weren't too happy about it... but no one would debate it either.

    Yeah, I saw similar posts about his "debut" (how quickly they forgot he actually played in the last game?) and then crowing about him leading the Browns to victory. Then I saw the stats... yikes. If his last name was Johnson, no one would care...

    After the season Jake had last year, I don't understand this take at all... Black hasn't been able to beat out Bauers (even the previous year's poorer version). Jake continues to improve, is a good defensive 1B, a good PH... Yet, you want to go back to scrap heap pickings? Unless he really breaks out next year, I'd bet this is his last year (doing a second year of arbitration for a then 31yo backup 1B that gains less than 1.0 WAR is unlikely). But I don't think we will find a cheaper LH 1B that will outhit Jake this year either.

    It certainly didn't help Nixon... Wyatt moving backwards cushions the blow some... moving forward increased the impact quite a bit. Just the way it came it about, it looked oddly intentional by Brinson rather than reactive....
