  1. Whether injury or the every other year a reliever sucks - we definitely dodged a bullet there at the price he signed for 2 yrs/ $14M. And I was one hoping to resign him (maybe not at that pricetag), before we ended up signing Albers.
  2. I doubt that is going to happen his first game off from rehab. I assume they will bring Woodruff and Houser up and have one ready at the first sign of trouble in the 4th+. He went 4.0 innings and 57 pitches in his last rehab and 4.1 innings and 66 pitches the rehab start before that in Biloxi.
  3. It doesn't matter where the player is from. I believe it's all about how many minor league seasons they have accrued. You are going to see younger players from Latin America on the list because a lot of those guys typically sign their first pro contracts at 16-17 years old. So DSL seasons count towards the eligibility or just stateside seasons? Or the seasons don't matter, it is just counting time from the professional contract signing?
  4. Albers is signed for two years. I don't see him leaving.
  5. Are the rules different for foreign players? I assume less years of protection?? - someone could take (not that they would) a 20/21 year old Carlos Herrera?
  6. They have to DL Peralta now, right? Bring up pen reinforcements. ASG anyways.
  7. In the half hour it's taking bear claw to pitch, Williams might've cooled off.
  8. Yeah that is crazy. I assume they are trying to jump start Orf by forcing him to swing in a hit and run. Never agreed with that when I was young, don't agree with it still. Just stupid (especially if you figure Saladino was just hit in ankle).
  9. Peralta earn that walk, but the umpire was not giving him any favors either. That third strike to Nottingham was way further off the plate than a couple of those pitches
  10. I want to be greedy, in that I want to keep the Taylor Wiliams who is helping now. So how about 2 of Barnes($559K) / Houser($Min) /Jennings($750k) and an organization #14-20 for Dyson and Smith? Giants save ~$2.6M 2018 dollars and have cheaper MLB bullpen pieces to fill their pen and add a prospect and we get the best player, Smith. I don't suppose the Giants could still sell it like they were competing if they did it though - so might have to wait till end of July to see if they lose more ground. I figure you get a year and a half for Smith, so it has to cost more than Swarzak last year. So maybe Barnes/Jennings=Dyson and Houser+Stokes=Smith? If we're eating the money, no need to add organizational 14-20. Heck, I'd even say Barnes/Jennings for Dyson/Smith. We're slightly upgrading on both ends and paying $2.5 million to do so. That seems fair. We're doing them the favor. If they don't want it, they can see if someone else wants to do a deal. We had to give up the OF Cordell for Swarzak and Smith is worth much more than him.

  12. I wonder if this is Stearns posturing to get the Orioles to take the deal quickly. Having Machado for 15 more games could be the difference between the Brewers winning the division by 1 game or falling short by 1 game. I hope it is to push the Orioles, but I also hope it is not posturing. I would be just as happy with Escobar and Dozier (secondly) and a stud bullpen guy who isn't a closer, like Will Smith. May be equivalent prospect value in trade, but we would not be sending out as high end type of prospects.
  13. Still stuck on reopen shortly for me. I assume it will open up again at 2:50pm.
  14. Agreed. Between Asher, Orf, and Kratz (when Pina healthy) each are on the bubble at all times. I don't see the Brewers risking Wilkerson or Lopez this season.
  15. Keep rolling Peralta out there for the foreseeable future. Skip his spot in the rotation when possible, around ASG and days off. If Davies comes back, then Peralta can take off a couple of starts and then evaluate the best five. If Davies doesn't come back, then skip a start or two in mid-late August. But if Peralta is pitching like he has been, I don't completely shut down. I am thinking the Nationals wish they had a do-over on Strasburg.
  16. I'm sure this is true. I just don't think there's any way we are going to offer them anything in the vicinity of what would be considered a "knockdown offer." I'm sure any offer would rightfully start with Hiura. Not sure, though, that the Brewers would include any MLB pieces, including Peralta and Burnes. I could see a package headlined by Hiura, with a few high upside arms like Diplan, Brown, Medieros or Houser (pick two), and another high ceiling guy like Ray or Gatewood. I would be willing to go Hiura, Woodruff/Davies, Ray, KJ Harrison, plus for DeGrom. Since the big headliner is Hiura, I guess it would depend what the Mets have at 2B. Not only majors, but on a path to the majors from the high minors. If they have player(s), then the Mets have to be willing to peddle Hiura after picking him up. Not sure with the Alderson situation how willing they are to pull the trigger.
  17. Now Burnes is part of the core, can't trade him now. Maybe the other team will typo and tell us they want Barnes, not Burnes.
  18. No reason to muddy the waters. Three team trades are more off-season type deals. KISS I apologize. No reason to think outside the box. Good day! Nothing personal. If the Orioles are so in love with Burnes, which means we are giving them more than we should, I guess we could take Britton back and move him like you mentioned. Just hate to complicate things if you don't have to, or give up Burnes.
  19. They had Lopez at 50 pitches give or take after two innings. Now he looks good to go six innings.
  20. I assume they want Nottingham to concentrate with two or three starters to begin with. So will have to put up with Kratz and his slow bat and legs for another two weeks.

  22. Need to pair up with an AL message board and agree to vote their guy if they vote Aguilar. Edit: I guess the Brewers already did this with the Twins. If I am an agent, I am renting an Indian call center for two days and having their staff do nothing but enter all star votes. Can't cost that much.
