I assume they may feel they can DFA before 60 days would be up (hence save money). I assume if you are healthy enough to rehab assignment, you are healthy enough to get DFA'd, right?

He must have really worked on his defense if it's become marginal! I originally had "bad", but figured I'd be kind. I'll say he has looked better on defense this year compared to last year. Below average, but Santana has looked twice as good in the OF this year compared to last year. More confidence going forward on balls whether on the fly or hit on ground.

Putting Aguilar at 3B is probably better defensively than Thames in OF. And since Shaw isn't hitting with his wrist, (for some reason the Reds are walking him) ....

When you run a seven men pen, it is hard to hide more than 1 guy from leverage situations if you have a few tight games in a row.

I hope if the Reds score enough that they have Jennings eat some innings and save Barnes from pitching too much. Figure Lopez is already on a plane to Cincy to takes Zs spot.

You figure Hader and Jeffress are not available. Jennings shouldn't be seen. So Barnes for 8th and Knebel the 9th. Got to get through 7th

I think Braun or Yelich hit the DL today unless one of them can come back for sundays game.. cant play the 23 man game. I think Counsell addressed in the press conf that they would still have a three man bench if they did not DL anyone and Braun and Yellich were not available - implying they could do that for a day or two. Maybe Suter gets to pinch hit?

Why do you say bad baserunning by Arcia? Isn't it assumed the lead runner should stay in the pickle as long as possible and the following runner to advance to his base? And then obviously when he sees that Broxton will get back to third that's when you run back to second.

I am inferring from your post that you are for a trade. But, if you look at what you wrote - the postseason being based on luck, should actually mean that you want to make the postseason as many times as possible, and not necessarily put all the eggs in the basket for any one year. You give yourselves more chances at the playoffs by keeping the years of cheap control of Hiura, Peralta..... Personally, I am torn on a big trade. I am leaning to trading for a Jody Mercer on the cheap and adding a bullpen arm if Albers doesn't come back to be Albers. -
I would rather he twiddle his healthy thumbs for a few days, versus continue to play and never get healed. This Shaw that is running out there now, is basically worse than Sogard. Take a DL stint and get healthy. If it is something that isn't going to get better for a long time, then you better drop him in the batting order and start playing Perez and Miller more at 3B.

Its been so bad, that I just hope there is no one on first when he bats, as he is pretty close to a GIDP machine with his speed and wrist.

This is temporary. They added Z because they don't care about losing him when they take him back off the 40 man roster. That is not the case for Ramirez or QTC. As soon as one of Albers, Miley, Davies is ready Z will be gone. Or if they actually use him in a blowout, they might rotate him for Lopez right away so they have a fresh arm in the pen.

I know there is no outs, so you don't risk It- But how close would it have been if Miller would've tried for a triple? Seems to me he could've made it.

Fine, we have to play Shaw because he's veteran gritting it out. But he is hitting like crap and not helping his wrist heal.

No way Hamilton doesn't steal 2nd Edit - unless the next two hitters only take one pitch - which really saves Guerras pitch count.
