  1. If some teams requests Arcia in a trade, that isn't going to hold me back. Yes, he may bounce back and hit, but I will take that risk if some team values him enough to ask for him. You can find defensive SS for free (Saladino, Rivera).
  2. You have to think that the Brewers have told the Orioles a date that the need to know by. I guess they could wait to the ASG, but don't see why any longer than that. I hope/assume they have had talks with Minnesota about Escobar and are leveraging that. He doesn't have the track record of hitting as well as this year and he has done much better at home historically. Still be an improvement if he falls back to a .750 OPS guy. Acquire him with much less cost. Switch hitter. Could take a few days at 3B for Shaw. I assume Escobar's defense is similar to or better than Machado at SS. Plus the Twins should want the Brewers to be good, right. Sell more tickets for those crossover games.
  3. More specifically, the Brewers need a SS who isn't an offensive black hole. The best available trade candidate happens to play SS. We are the ones making this complicated. I think clubhouse chemistry is an important factor in a teams record. So making trades for tradings sake, like a playstation game I am leery of. But, you also have to think that Machado will be thinking I get to show the league I can be a good guy in the next clubhouse right before the biggest payday. He would have to be a real bonehead to be anything close to a cancer for two plus months. i think that would come out in pre-trade investigation pretty easy.
  4. Shaw - Way to prove me wrong. Little surprised they were playing him that deep.
  5. i would take out Thames for three innings of defense, when up one, with Hader/Knebel in line too.
  6. You can't stop Nottingham, you can only hope to contain him.
  7. You can't tell me his wrist is healthy. Just DL and wait until after ASG.
  8. I don't know why teams don't walk Aguilar to let Shaw hit into a double play following him.
  9. Maybe teams will think fluke, and he is closer to how he produced in 2017. But, if we got this cheap, I would rather do this than Machado and use the assets to get another front line player. Brewers would also have a chance to resign Escobar.
  10. I don't think you extend him. Just pay him year to year for what arby cost is. We have him for four more years. By the time that runs its course, it will time to move on. I could see tacking on a year and buying out arby, so you have a known cost - if the DH was added to NL. That way in case he grows out of 1B, you have other options. As for hitting. All you have to mention is that Aguilar is regressing in the in-game thread and he usually comes through with some hits and bumps his average to .300 again.
  11. Actually I see the bullpen as short another stud. We have the big 3, but then a dropoff to Williams, and then a another dropoff to Barnes, Jennings, and then the rotating door player. Assuming Albers comes back like 2017-April 2018 Albers, then we don't need a stud. But if he went to sucking every other year bullpen guy place, then we need another guy because of how much Counsell relies on the bullpen. We won't have time to see if Burnes can be a bullpen asset before the trade deadline comes and goes. Edit: To be clear, I am not saying I want Hand. I actually would look for someone that isn't a "closer" - like Will Smith or the Marlins BearClaw to round out the bullpen since it doesn't seem like we will be able to acquire an ace, better shorten the game.
  12. I don't see the Escobar coming that cheaply. But I wish. Don't know anything about Rays/Ramos - but I don't think Grisham counts for much and Houser probably isn't valued that highly right now either. I kind of think Houser will be an important pen guy next year.
  13. I would go with Machado and DeGrom, but have no faith that the Mets will be fair or logical. So.. Machado: Woodruff, Phillips Realmuto: Hiura, Burnes, Nottingham, lottery tix org #35-40 Will Smith: Bickford, Susac. Okay no Susac so better kick in Stokes and KJ Harrison
  14. I like to think outside of the box, but I'm pretty sure the Shaw was just practicing over there because on some huge shifts he is actually over there and the SS is the only one on that side of the field. I am pretty confident that Shaw would be horrible at 2B.
  15. Well the state of the team is that we don't need him. By that I mean we don't need a Nelson that we won't really know how good he is going to pitch being put in the rotation only because he was a stud last year. Same goes for Davies and Miley. Anderson, Chacin, Guerra, Suter, and Peralta have been pitching very well. If I knew Davies and Nelson would come back to be the pitcher they were last July, sure move Suter/Peralta - but I doubt we get that pitcher.
  16. A guy with more track record and who keeps his pitch count down to go further in games. Not that Guerra isn't doing great this year.
  17. Is the answer to who is going to lose his job after the all star game?...
  18. I assume you mean Burnes. Which would be quite a curve since he is not on 40 man roster - and we presume they need a slot for Miley
  19. Yeah. I agree 100 percent. This is a loss in the past. Can't forget how good Peralta was again. Thinking of trading this guy for pitching for crying out loud is nuts. Baseball experts drive me nuts. This kid is what we need. Agreed. This will be just like rookie performance of Eldred. But this time we win the division.
  20. I agree. If he's not available, they need to re-think what they're doing. If he is available to pitch tonight, he should've been pitching this inning with the lefties up to bat.
