  1. I wouldn't want Matt Harvey unless, they took a lotto tix. This guy is not good enough for the risk he poses to clubhouse chemistry.
  2. Preaching to the choir. Counsell is going to die on the "Knebel is the closer" hill which seems odd because he has shown the ability to manage the pen creatively. Its also odd to me because Knebel is in arby and the save counting stat is going to get him paid more. Whereas Soria and Jeffress will not get paid more just because they picked up some counting stats. I assumed (hoped) Counsell would have said every night will be different with no "closer", at least that was what I was hoping for. At least last night he brought Jeffress in to face the meat of the order in the 8th (even though he didn't have a good night), and if it went to plan, then Knebel would have been facing the approx 6-8 batters in the 9th. I think Jeffress is pitching better at this point in the season, even though neither pitched well last night.
  3. Because Knebel pitched more than one inning' date=' and they were all high stress pitches. And Soria is a closer.[/quote] None of this inning was high stress till now. He had 4 runs to work with. He's already pitched 3 straight days this year, unless he goes 30+ pitches he will be the "closer" tomorrow. I guess I consider when a pitcher is pitching crappy, even if he has a lead, that those are high stress to him as he is trying to do more than what he is able to at the time. It wasn't free and easy, he was fighting himself even early in the ninth.
  4. If he supposedly is a good defender, I don't know what to say. It must be in his head now, which is probably worse than him actually being a below average defender.
  5. Why? Because Knebel pitched more than one inning, and they were all high stress pitches. And Soria is a closer.
  6. Only because the bottom of the order is coming up.
  7. Sweep the Giants and then trade for Will Smith. Partially just to cheese off the people that will complain it isn't a starting pitcher.
  8. Thought they pinch ran for him? That makes sense. I guess I just assumed the bench was directing the throws over to get Knebel ready.
  9. Poor Posey, he might as well stand on 1b, as JJ is just buying time.
  10. It's like he's never turned a double play as a second baseman before
  11. Soria, Albers, Knebel, Williams... BP is in good shape Knebel may end up pitching more than an inning. If he gets ready fast enough
  12. Or he just saw the pitch well and got a hit - I agree with the assessment of his tenuous at best position on the Active roster, but it's silly to think the only reason guys get hits is because they are about to get cut. Sorry, I guess I should have put that in blue. Kinda thought it was obvious. It was.
  13. I don't remember the last time the Brewers got three singles through the infield in a game, nonetheless in one inning.
  14. Pretty sure Thames has been in LF all game long. Yes all game. Just wondering if it had been other games before this.
  15. At what point did Yelich switch back to RF when Thames is in game? Or more correctly, when did Thames move to LF?
  16. Saladino just told the bosses he doesn't want to be here.
  17. Until Shaw proves he can hit, you would be less than smart to pitch to Aguilar with two outs.
  18. That was clearly a fluke double. He has regressed and I am sticking with that.
  19. Aquilar lost his groove. Only .091 avg since allstar game, including only 2 hits (1 homer) and tons of Ks. BA sunk 20 pts. Hopefully he can bounce back soon. I hate the HR derby No doubt now. It is clearly regression.
  20. You can see what the Brewers were thinking. We want $1M for that buyout option.
  21. Well unless he declines the option, the Brewers would have to pay the $1M buyout. In effect, the Brewers decision making will be using $9M as his cost for 2019. If he continues to pitch as he has this year, through the end of the year, and fits into the clubhouse - it would be a pretty hard decision to let him go.
  22. Not Soria-specific question. The CBA allows 72 hours to report. Has any player ever taken close to that long to report when it is a trade to a contending team? One year ago this week I was in Washington for the series with the Nats and even the Nats fans were asking me "when is your new pitcher (Swarzack) getting here? Reagan National is a major airport" Looking at old articles, it says he was in uniform on Thursday July 27. I think the trade was finalized Tuesday. Not sure where he was before traveling to Washington.
