  1. You have to remember that Baltimore gave up on him, so it is more than 22 innings, when you consider their opinion.
  2. So for the sake of conversation, lets say Suter is brought up to start on Tuesday. What does the Cardinal bible on baseball say about hiding which game Nelson/Suter starts (I have no idea if the Cardinals have platoons positions or not). I assume the other team would see who is warming up at the right time before the game, so it is moot, but if there is any team I would warm up both just to get their undies in a bundle.....
  3. Peralta can be gone in my book. The reason why is IF he actually turns it around, the Brewers still won't offer arby, so what are the chances he is still a Brewer then.
  4. Yes, remove him entirely off the 40 man roster. Time for some Wang.
  5. Yep. That and he has looked decent in AAA, so you were seeing if their was any lightning in the bottle of the 30 year old.
  6. Knebel and Barnes are just so much more reliable than the rest of the pen that they have to be used in every game we are tied to leading by 3 or less. I still have hope that Hughes may turn into that guy yet. But it may just be the Giants hitting that is making him look so good. No callup is going to change that for the near-term as you need to earn trust. But if you call up someone now and if they can show that they won't hemorrhage runs, by July they may have earned some of the workload off from Barnes who will then be able to spell Knebel. If someone were called up now (so probably not Hader), it would seem to be Blazek/Cravy/Archer/Wang. They have all pitched much better on the road, as sometimes you just need to ignore CS. Only Cravy is on the 40. Cravy is on 9 scoreless innings streak. But it would seem to me that it may be time to see if Wang could be a better option down in the pen than Drake.
  7. Looking at the stats, if I am reading this right, the Brewer bullpen is: 9-14 W-L 3.84 ERA 196.2 IP .253/.343/.412/.755 1.419 WHIP I assume the ERA, OPS, and WHIP are all on the high end of averages for a bullpen. But, I didn't see a stat for league average and wasn't going to go team by team. The other thing I noticed is that the pitchers have a .77 lower ERA with Pina catching. 260 innings for Bandy and 226 for Pina. See how that continues to trend.
  8. I'm on gamecast. Was the Mets infield actually playing back? If not, he really can't just put it in play, he has to make sure it is at minimum a fly ball to the OF, that is not as easy as trying to punch it to the 2B.
  9. Agreed. But I still assume Torres will be pitching whatever of the 8th that Anderson dosen't. Try to save Barnes.
  10. I think you are way out of whack. But, I will say his last 2-3 starts have been pretty good.
  11. Which is why he might argue against selling at the deadline especially after a hot start, and especially if that means trading Braun which cuts into not only ticket sales but merchandise sales Why do people assume that a player being traded or lost to free agency will effect ticket sales? The stuff I have read is that fans care much, much more about a winning team versus specific players. If the team is winning they will find new players to like. If the Brewers are in the thick of the wildcard at the end of July, and we were to trade Braun for a proven reliever, plus get a prospect or two for down the road, and bring up Brinson, I don't think ticket sales are going to drop an iota.
  12. Why? I'm not sure Woodruff outpitches Anderson who's been average. He's got a .322 BABIP against which his .20 above his career. Everything else is about normal for him. Eventually those grounders will turn into outs. They are just finding holes (yesterday notwithstanding). If he was horrible then maybe you make a move. The Padres even hit Anderson. Right now he is the one on the hotseat. But he still gets at least two more starts, imo. What is safe threshold for Super 2?
  13. I was surprised he didn't take at least one strike. He must have assumed with a couple of walks already, that the pitcher was just going to lob one in the middle of the strike zone.
  14. Well he has had three discouraging plays within a week. So it is in recent memory. Hopefully he goes two months now without an issue.
  15. I would have to strongly disagree that 2B is a position of strength. We have two guys in the minors that are likely multiple years away and very much unproven. If you are trading Villar in hopes one of those guys replace him successfully in 2+ years is a bit optimistic. I'm not saying to trade Villar, as I don't think we would get value. But for some reason if someone loved him as the lead of a package, and the Brewers could get a decent starter, why not? Basically you would be giving Perez an everyday home. Even if we needed him elsewhere, you have Franklin/Sogard/DeJesus/Rivera in the mean time. We wouldn't be solely relying only on Dubon/Diaz for the future, but I could see one ready in 2019. Until then there are plenty of Gennetts around for basically free or trade from our surplus of AAA OFs for an about ready to come up to the majors AAA 2B.
  16. While true most of the time, it is not an always. Thames is a perfect example of why someone should never be written off if they are willing to continue to work extremely hard at their craft. Not saying Sogard is another guy that we'll catch lightning in a bottle, but you just never know. Yeah, Sogard had surgery in 2016. So maybe he has the same deal as that little kid that hurt his arm, and could throw heat after his arm was healed. Or maybe they put some bionics in while doing surgery. Sogard's daughter http://www.jsonline.com/story/sports/2017/05/17/brewer/327389001/
  17. Ignoring the issues of being so close to the Brewers, I don't think there is any way they would want a stadium that is only 4,000 capacity at AAA.
  18. So it is your fault then. Hate the Drake
  19. At least more fun than the playoff teams this century. This team sort of has the feel of the 78 or 80 Brewers. The 80 team had tons of offense, but was held back by pitching, 78 had the shock of being good after a number of poor years. Reminds me of the 1987 season. Had a bad 1986 season. Not much pitching outside of Teddy. Surhoff had a good rookie season, everyone had a pretty good offensive season other than Cooper so we were scoring lots of runs.
  20. There actually is merit in the notion of trading for Quintana. He is signed through 2020 with club options so he could be the teams ace while the young guys get worked into the rotation. I certainly wouldn't want them to trade for a rental but that is a guy that makes total sense to acquire. Hope the White Sox need lots of OFs.
  21. I don't think 10 days off and sitting on the bench will curb one of our AAA OFs development that much. I would assume they would get a couple of starts and a handful of pinch hit opportunities. Basically should take away all of Franklins starts (Perez in IF instead of OF). Whatever they lose in development, they will make up for by getting acclimated to the majors with less pressure and probably a desire to get back asap.
  22. My recollection of Garza's free agency is that his marketability was severely hindered by draft pick compensation, which is why he signed with Milwaukee very close to the start of the season. Hopefully, someone else can confirm. Lohse was tied to a draft pick, so he received less of a contract from the Brewers than he would have had as a free free agent. Garza was free as he was traded in 2013 so that he couldn't be tied to a draft pick compensation.
  23. I can guarantee that except for the day they win the world series people will be complaining about who is and isn't on the roster. And the day after the world series is over, they will start complaining again.
  24. Because Franklin is a sunk cost? Maybe DeJesus when Braun is back, and Perez is the 4th OF. But do we have options to put DeJesus back down to AAA if we wanted later? If not, then I don't know if you do that yet either.
  25. Yeah, it would seem to be a perfect spot to get Perez some at bats, especially when Braun comes back. And I thought maybe the Brewers are hesitant to move Villar down the batting order because they thinkg that would screw up Broxton, if he batted first. But looking at Broxton's limited stats of him batting first, plus leading off an inning he seems to be fine.
