  1. You have to offer Houser arby. If he pitches like 2021, he is worth much, much more than he will get in arby.
  2. I am more basic on my stats. Just talking offense for Urias. 2021 OPS- .790 2022 OPS- .739 OF: Keep Renfroe. I'm starting Frelick and Mitchell from day 1, unless they look lost in spring training. Taylor as backup OF, getting 2-3 starts a week, Yelich getting 1-2 starts a week in the OF, otherwise DH.
  3. No I meant get one better hitter at either 1B or 3B. If we trade away Renfroe and Tellez and save on their arby pay, can we get a FA or trade for a player that is in the $16-17M range that is a better hitter than either Renfroe/Tellez. Then use the rest of our parts to replace Renfroe/Tellez. I don't follow the rest of the league that closely to know what is available. So sounds like keep Renfroe/Tellez is the best offensive option. So run it back with Mitchell/Frelick, no Cutch, and hope the pitchers and Urias are closer to 2021 than 2022 in performance.
  4. I'll take the over on Renfroe arby at $11M, and would still plan on keeping him. I am leaning more towards Frelick and Mitchell starting next year, so I am more apt to keep Renfroe and DH Yelich (while training him at 1B). But, if you pool Tellez and Renfroe arby amounts, can you come up with a better hitter at 1B/3B for their combined arby of $16-17M? Then use Hiura/Brouseau at 1B and Yelich/Taylor in OF. I don't see keeping Suter at that price.
  5. I hope they move Yelich to DH/1B. But, if not, how good defensively is Frelick if he had to play CF?
  6. I think we keep Renfroe one more year. Arby raises will probably be more in the $18M-$20M range. So $8M is too much I think for the teams total budget to handle to retain Wong. As I don't know if Turang's bat will be enough, best case scenario there is a 3B that is ready to try the majors that matches up with a trade for Mitchell, then Urias to 2B. Frelick is CF with Taylor the 4th OF. Wiemer in the minors getting ready in case of injury. If one of Burnes/Woody is traded, then I can see Wong being kept for one more year.

  8. You don't cost/benefit to see if Boxberger is worth $3M. You review to see if Box is worth $2.25M. The buyout is a sunk cost. At that price, and assuming Taylor Rogers is gone, I would think the Brewers retain him for one more year.

  10. Yeah, but is that $4.5M stated as an annual contract? Since he signed in July, lets say ~60% through the season, will he will get approximately $1.8M or 40% of that amount, or is the $4.5M what he is actually getting paid for 2+ months of work. I'm assuming he is getting paid the $1.8M..
  11. I assume it isn't going to cost too much to acquire Greinke in prospects as he will still be owed approx $5M when he is traded. And we know the Royals have to trade him. He is better than what we currently have pitching, but as good as other bottom of the rotation starters that will be available in trade? Just have to compare price in prospects to price in dollars. I assume with the budget already stretched, Greinke isn't even an option unless KC eats some of his salary (which means better prospect).
  12. I would hope Small is not traded at all. Not that he is a "for sure" to be a good pitcher, but you would think that one of Woodruff, Burnes, Houser and Lauer is traded to save on salary for 2023 and get young talent (unless it is Hader). And look how deep we have went so far with SP injuries this year. I have my favorites, but would trade anyone else in the minors before Small.
  13. Cain is only signed through this year. They aren't going to jump through hoops with trading prospects to get back a bad contract. They will just eat it. I actually kind of doubt they dfa him though. My guess they keep him, they are paying him anyways. Maybe he gets "injured" for a month or so until we get to expanded rosters. He just better not be on the playoff roster the way he is.
  14. So you don't think the Orioles would just keep him and QO and get the comp pick? Or QO to expensive for Mancini? I thought public relations was an issue for Mancini also, as fan favorite?...
  15. I would think the Orioles would want more than that coming in. Erceg probably has to be on the 40 man next year, right?
  16. I believe the commissioner has to sign off on any trade above $1M. I would be willing to bet it would have to be very rare circumstances that that is going to be okayed.
  17. Ditto. Once Renfroe is back, Taylor will take up most of the CF at bats (or at least as many as Counsell will let a gritty veteran sit on the bench for). Taylor is going to be at least close to average CF production in the NL, and maybe even better, but definitely not a black hole in the lineup. I'm assuming by the trading deadline we will have figured out if somehow Brousseau/Hiura/McCutcheon will be enough. But, McCutcheon 0 for last 23 at bats, I'd say it is time to give Hiura or Brousseau (I'd prefer Hiura) every day at bats (no platoon) for at least two weeks.
  18. Frelick # 66 Wiemer #82 They updated I believe https://www.mlb.com/prospects/top100/
  19. Doesn't Taylor rate at least average defensively in CF? He has really heated up. .850 ops for May. He doesn't have a huge split hitting lefties/righties - so don't need a platoon option. Edit: Ended up .870 OPS for May
  20. I would think the Brewers trade Hader this offseason. You can't just let him walk for nothing after 2023. There isn't even a comp pick anymore, is there? So you have to trade him this offseason, unless he signs a hometown discount extension. Edit: I guess there are still comp picks. So maybe you keep him in 2023 and trade him if out of playoffs at deadline or keep him and just get some type of comp pick. Not my first choice though. 21. So he gets called up and pitches okay. But when they send him down, is there any scenario where another team would only have to pay prorated minimum wage and could grab him?
  22. So other than some rust and some bracing (that I never notice), why exactly is AmFam not a good place to play baseball games? I must have missed some real reason for a move?.,.. Is there a need for more luxury boxes or something that generates more revenue than what we currently do? If maintenance is taken care of by the sales tax, all ownership is going to care about is, can we generate more revenue with an upgraded ballpark or new ballpark. If the answer is no, then there is no reason for this article.

  24. Disagree. He has more than a draft pick to his pedigree. He hit everywhere in the minors and that was an awesome 2019. That is enough to hold on to just to see if anything clicks, even paying 1st year arby rates. If I was the GM of a team rebuilding, I would give some value to acquiring Hiura. If he figures it out, there would be enormous payout on that trade. I can see the possibilities that Wong is not brought back at $8M next year ($10M net of buyout)? If not, then there is a spot for Hiura. The Brewers aren't going to just cut him loose for nothing.
  25. I don't understand this one, so I must be missing something. What do Hosmer and Myers bring? Cain is off the books at the end of the year. Tellez is hitting and as far as we know may continue hitting like this all year long. Hiura is min.wage yet and may figure it out. Peterson is util.
