  1. If money was not the issue, we would sign him, even to just to be a rotating bat if it came to that. If we had to "lose" Durbin in this scenario to acquire Suarez, then that is a no. Obviously, you can't take money out of the decision, so easy decision to pass at this time. Since it is a one year deal - I can see if the Reds are out of it, Suarez is having a good year, and we don't have production at 3B where we are talking in July.
  2. Yeah, I think first and foremost Montgomery was in the deal so we didn't send any prospects back, we in essence sent cash with the deal by eating his contract. But, isn't he on a track that he wouldn't be back right away, but later in the season? To me that sounds like a perfect fit for us. You have to figure that at least a couple of starters will start leaking as the season goes on. Even if you have two of Patrick/Henderson/Gasser/Sproat in AAA and ready, that sounds like a good plan to have.
  3. Not enough pitching roster slots allowed by MLB. Plus, you would have to have buy-in from Murphy, as he would usually curtail the Priester piggyback for the usual 7-8-9 innings relievers. You have to let the starter and piggybacker go longer if they are having an efficient game. So you can save on the back-end reliever usage.
  4. I know nothing about the prospects coming back, but I think we might be kicking ourselves over losing Myers. He very well could have won a starting rotation spot out of ST. If not, I don't think we can count on more than 1-2 starters to make every start this season, so he would have been used for quite a few innings. Hope I am wrong.
  5. I assume "thrills" is better by a smidge over "excites"?....
  6. Well we want teams to come to us, gives us the advantage. So the Brewers are not going to be sending the names first. So all depends on the other teams, and how motivated they are to acquire Peralta.
  7. The default for a small market team should be to trade a player like Peralta. Obviously you have to get a decent return for him. I just wonder if the Brewers budgeted the TV rights for the amount we will end up actually getting this year. If they budgeted more than whatever MLB will get them, I could see the Brewers being more aggressive in trading him, even though he is only making $8M. $2 bucks is $2 bucks, eh?
  8. I know nothing about what they got back, but I assume this makes them worse for 2026, but better all future years. Re-allocate the money to the future and get a jump start on seeing who can play 3B.
  9. Maybe directions from above to not risk any injuries?.... But if anything the kids are rubber bands at that age, and that shouldn't have been an issue.
  10. Not disagreeing, but the Brewers try not to pay the bullpen if they can get away with it. I agree that I think the Brewers will be looking to see what they can get for him now, especially if they keep Peralta. If there is not enough return, they will be pushing him to be a starter. If that doesn't work, in the bullpen for another year, but definitely gone then after 2026.
  11. I would do a deal where none of the prospects works out for the other team. 😎
  12. With Quero not playing at all in 2024 and only 250 at bats in 2025, I would rather not assume this. Knock on wood Contreras is healthy.
  13. This is just the national deals. And I think the deal here is they are bundling everything together nationally at the same time (must have different times in the past?). I don't think this is different from what we currently have, unless they are making more games (quantity) "national". Local deals MAY be included, but probably only those clubs that are struggling to find their own local deal is my guess. But definitely not the Dodgers, Yankees etc local deals.
  14. But if the Brewers can make him a #4 starter, that throws this all out, with Zerpa's years of control. Big if, but if you believe the GM speak. Hauser just got paid $11M for next year to be a #4/#5 starter.
  15. Hoby Milner has agreed to a one-year, $3.75 million deal with the Cubs, per source. The deal also includes incentives. — Mark Feinsand (@Feinsand) December 11, 2025
  16. My understanding this is a major league contract. So the Brewers pay him league minimum on or off the team, right? So he would not be close to one of the first couple of people that will cut off the 40 man roster.
  17. You have to get to the playoffs first.
  18. He grew up and lives in Calif in the offseason. Not saying I agree with the trade, or that he would drop the no-trade. But I can see the Angels as a team he would drop the NTC for.
  19. To tell the truth, I haven't read all the back and forth. My two cents. Megill is very important, as Murphy does maneuver Uribe and Koening around (Koening bunch of lefties, Uribe middle of the order) to match up to whatever bats are coming up the for innings 7-8 (usually). If Megill is gone, Uribe is strictly the 9th inning, even if the middle of the order is coming up in the 8th inning. And we have no one proven to take over the Uribe role. Megill might be due for his reliever bad year, but I would still keep him on the roster.
  20. https://www.sportingnews.com/us/mlb/milwaukee-brewers/news/new-stranger-things-character-also-mlb-all-star-brewers/62a6209647a3040ba70930ac And if you factor in when the Stranger Things show takes place, they're pretty much the same age. The new season takes place in November 1987. The guy who turned into the MLB pitcher would've been 9 years old then. While it's not specifically stated in the show, that seems like a ballpark age for the fictional Derek, too. Did someone writing the script have a strong Brewers fandom? It sure seems possible.
  21. The Brewers just used the budget they held back for the trading deadline on Jansen and Miller/Montgomery. You can question the quality of pickups, but you can't question that they used a decent chunk of payroll for these two tranx.
  22. You would trade Contreras next year after he hits all season this year, after getting his finger fixed - if Quero or somebody was ready. Or it is the Adames route. Supposedly we would have a very good idea what we had in Quero after next season.
  23. A little more than I would have thought they would have had to go. I suspect they will tell Bauers to get a lot of OF reps in during spring training, for total flexibility. But, if Vaughn starts out WhiteSox-cold, and Bauers starts out hot, I can see getting to a straight platoon pretty fast.
  24. Hitting: I figure that the only player that will probably decline is Yelich. Everyone else/position will should produce at least similar to last year over the season, with good chances of improvement from Chourio, Contreras and SS/Ortiz. But trading for a cost-controlled bat wouldn't hurt.
  25. I do see a scenario where we don't get a haul for Peralta so we keep him, but then see what we can get for Ashby in a trade. If we have Woodruff and Peralta, I doubt we are trying Ashby as a starter, so as a reliever his pay is starting to get up there. $5.7M 2026, $7.7M 2027. I can see some team giving us some good value back thinking that if Ashby can start for them, it will be worth it.
