  1. A hit and a walk. Then the TRats do some atypical things for this club. First Vargas- who is usually so fundamentally sound - flails with a bunt attempt at the first pitch, then foul bunts the next. And strikes out. A wild pitch moves the runners and Edaurqui with a big hit but for some reason on a shallow single to RF then send Hall (who is not particularly speedy) and the Beloit announcer puzzled that he was sent, and he out by 10 feet. Another wild pitch then Lara skies it to LF but under it enough that the LF hauls it in in the corner. Tied game but could have been much more. Mudcats have tacked on more and were up 7-1 with Burchard pitching in the second.
  2. They got two singles (Fernandez, Garcia) and a HBP (who else but Adams), and get a run on a Wood grounder (FC 3-6), but strand a couple of runners, it’s 2-1 deficit- on to the bottom of the 8th.
  3. Mogollon lost all control this year. As a now 20 year old who struggled first in low A, and then in the ACL The 165 player rule having an effect. He should hopefully find a team willing to take a chance on him as there is talent, and maybe a change of scenery, or a different voice can help him with consistency/location/control. Good luck to him and the others. The leashes will be much shorter for players in the ACL/A clubs with the roster limits and the influx of 30-50 players each year (indy signing, MLB draft, DSL promotions) being added to the organizational depth charts. Quick question - do the signed draft picks count to the 165 limit if they are not assigned to a club yet?
  4. For some kids they also want that college experience. Minors is not glamorous life and it is professional work from day 1. colege they can be the stud, party a little, and maybe hone their craft and try to win college championships (tournaments, league titles, and CWS). Obviously the money now is the key, and getting 1-2M now is always the safest decision, as most don’t improve their stock (or at least not as much) in college to come out as a $3-6M draft pick in 3 years. Odds are slim. So it may be an emotional decision to enjoy college, and some belief they will buck the trend and become the next Skenes. Wish Levonas well , maybe he will be the next Rodon (or Dylan Covey but his case was different), but odds are he will be a mid round pick in 3 years. Still stinks as I had high hopes for Meccage and Levonas being best years Knoth/Letson.
  5. This is interesting scenario right now. In the offseason I think it’s easy. Offer a QO, offer a 4 year deal, and he will turn both down as there will be a team offering 5-8 years to him. The Brewers can afford to overpay him for a year or two, but not like 3-4 years at the back end. He is at peak (28 yo) and will start to decline. That could be slow (good player 29-32) or fast (noticeable decline at 30), but being on the hook for his 32+ seasons is not great especially with Yelich on the books as your future DH. This season - with a healthy Yelich you go ‘all in’ (sort of ) and buy pitching. Now with Yelich out the playoff chances are there due to a very weak division, but the playoff success is very low with Yeli. So do you try to buy pitching and a bat and depleted the prospect pool? Or do you trade Adames now, and basically tell Contreras, Ortiz, Chourio, Frelick it’s your team go try to win without a traditional vet like Adames (or Yelich) in the clubhouse. And does that affect Chourio? Im not for trading him now but you have think about that as another option for Willy.
  6. Lovely. Mudcats and Sounds the darlings of the night. Not the best pitching performance \s overall.
  7. Muddies break out. Nice game by Castillo - 6 RBI. Tougher night for pitching all around. Especially in the big club.
  8. Ugh. Biloxi blows it. A single to CF gets the man on, but the runner on second stays. Then a bloop and EBJ with a nice catch. Then a ripped single to RF but the runner holds at third. Bases juiced. Yeager goes up 0-2. Then nibbles and misses. Now full count. And misses. Walks in the tying run. Next batter on first (or maybe second)pitch thrown. Walk off hit. 4-3 Shuckers lose.
  9. Shuckers get one in. Sparks with the spark. A sinking liner to CF that can’t be caught. 3-2 Injury delay for the CF. Stays in the game a wouldn’t you know it the ball finds him. Warren with a bloop to CF. He dives and can’t hold on. But the SS quickly throws to the 3B covering second for the force out. Your typical 8-6-5 fielders choice force out at second, yeah we see that all the time. But Kahle strikes out. And Martin avoids the CF but flies out to RF. Bottom of 11 for Biloxi (Brewers affiliate) up on Pensacola (Marlins affiliate) 3-2 in extras. Please let’s hold on. Earlier it was Wisconsin (Brewers affiliate) defeating Beloit (Marlins affiliate) 3-2 in extras.
  10. Sounds close the deal. Shuckers escape into the 11ty we go. TRats - a bloop base hit makes it 3-2. Root strikes out the next hitter. Then a tailor made DP ground ball hits the pitcher goes left and no play and runners on 1st and 2nd with an infield single. No solid contact at all. He strikes out Olmstaed with power (96 mph fastballs). The a bloop right at the SS Garcia. Game Set Match. 3-2 TRats victory!! Let’s go Shuckers. Get the offense going.
  11. And TRats say hold on. A walk to Vargas, and Luis Lara (3-4 now) with a big double. 3-1 TRats. They intentionally walk Adams after a Hall ground out. Wood flies out to end it. On to the bottom of 10, now TRats 3-1. Shuckers fail to score in the top of 10. Still 2-2. Sounds an out away from victory. 6-5 still.
  12. Smith and Hunt with very good outings. Corniel with a bounce back 4 inning start. Patrick and Hoff with respectable lines. Pitching side fine. Offense is fine in Nashville (what else is new), but limited elsewhere. Wisconsin on to extras with 7 hits but only tied 1-1. Mudcats shut out. Shuckers tied 2-2, with a meager 3 hits. Off to extras there.
  13. Not surprising. The ACL staff was a massive struggle. Mogollon started out with Carolina and just could not control his pitches. His last game with the Muddies was just tough to watch. Sadly his could not improve his control in Arizona. Wish them all well, and hope they can find success with another organization. The domestic player limit has shortened the leash for players in the lower ranks. - RHP Tyler Woessner assigned to AA Biloxi from AAA Nashville Hopefully Tyler can get his groove back (consistent velocity) and get back to some prospect status again.
  14. Got it. Thanks! Yeah I had to create a Twitter account since it was labeled as "sensitive content" and I couldn't bypass that without an account. Odd. But I had to finally give in to have an X account (I know have social media sadly) Thanks again Mass
  15. Right, I agree. But if the reports of Levonas demands (or just not signing) are true, then best not to try to spend greater than $2.4M on him and focus on the others. I was so excited about the Meccage/Levonas duo moving through the system, but if Levonas does not want to do this, then oh well. Still stinks if the scouting department did not realize his demands and/or wishes, or just didn't vet this fully.
  16. Biloxi will sure be interesting in the second half. Would be so cool if they could get the offense going consistently (with healthy Wilken Cargo, Boeve; resurgent EBJ; spark plug O'Rae; and the Reinforcements of Scott and Hall), and keeping the pitching staff together (Smith, Misiorowski, Wichrowski, Blalock and Henderson) they could make a great second half run. Hope that Yophery can get back to action soon, he is having a very nice development season so far.
  17. And thinking through this. If Levonas does not sign it sucks because he could be a very good picture and we lose that bonus money. On the other hand, if he signs for $2.4M or more it effectively wipes out her savings to (this would be double his slot value). I thinking is that we lose the slot value money of $1.2M if he does not sign, or we lose that effectively if he signs for double his money. So unless he is willing to sign for between $1.2M and $2.4M (which sounds unlikely) then it may be best if we do not sign him, take the savings to sign some of the late round draft picks, get another pick next year - and use that money on maybe a stronger draft class. Anyway that is me trying to rationalize the frustration at both hearing that Yelich's season could be over, and us not possibly not signing our 2nd round CB pick.
  18. His velocity and raw stuff is real, just a matter of harnessing it and controlling it.
  19. With a pick that high you would expect there was some intel or insight into what his demands would be. Like some of the HS who by day 2 took themselves out . Maybe he did but not fast enough or vocal enough. Last 1-10 rounder not to sign? Was it Covey - who chose not to because of a recent health illness being diagnosed. Losing the player because of college commitment or sheer $$ is so disappointing, and a very 1990s Brewers thing to have happen. Ugh
  20. Well so dang close. Still a 4-1 day for Joseph. Happy birthday to him, hope he had a good one.
  21. Dang. I want to watch, but it says video doesn't exist. Do I need to have an X account to watch, or was the video removed??
  22. And isn’t DeBery a potential under slot guy as well? So leaves $2+ million above slot to offer to Meccage and Livonas, and then have extra to put toward the other picks. Didn’t Tobias sign? Or at least post a photo of his locker at the Complex?
  23. On to the 2025 season. 2024 I wish thee well and never come back again. At least with Yelich out, we don't have to worry about giving away prospects for pitching rentals, time to see what we have for next year and hope Woodruff can come back healthy. Time to focus on the minor league championships - let's get the top 4 affiliates into the playoffs. AAA, AA, A+ and A crowns here we come
  24. This is the thing with Misiorowski. He will have some great starts, and then this. His consistency is the key. I know a lot of clamoring to get him up to AAA or the MLB, and his stuff will suceed there, but in the long term he will need to figure out how to manage these yips innings where things can fall apart quickly. I don't know if it is a mental thing (Burnes has talked openly about how much of pitching is mental), or a mechanical issues with his long limbs that he can look dominant and then the wheels fall off. I think this is the key to his development and I hope this can continue to develop. And I didn't watch any of the game yet, but Alexander Cornielle seems ready to move up. His stats have been relatively consistent, and even without dominant stuff he is effective and now in his second year at high A and soon to turn 23. I look forward to him in Biloxi in the near future. Finally, the Muddies still remain my favorite team to watch (or tied with the TRats). So incredibly young (DiTuri, Baez, Pratt, and the pitching crew all the ages that most ACL and some DSL players are!). One of those kids, Yophery, even with his lower OPS/BA in June, he was cutting down on the K and improving his walk rate compared the earlier part of the season, So along with ongoing power (2B and HR), excellent defense, and now his OPS in July, this is what you are excited to see. This is what you want to see in an 18 year old in his first year in stateside ball. Also M. Rodriguez, with what would be a "bad outing" for him, I will watch his outing later this week, but he gets 4-6 innings per start, walks only about 1 per start, and will give up hits and get some strikeouts. His stuff is not overpowering, but he is usually in command and typically composed on the mound. If the pitching labs can squeeze a few MPH, or get him to find a pitch with some elite movement he could be an absolute gem. Even if not, like Cornielle, pitchers who are successful in getting players out can still have a lot of value.
