  1. Hall - can he be optioned to stay in AAA? The other option is put him in the bullpen to work on his pitching?
  2. Biloxi and the ACL squad are the only ones with a losing record. And Biloxi could have a solid second half if the offense (Boeve, Wilken, CDRod, ORae, Miller) can stay consistent as the talent is there, and with strong performances by the pitching crew (Blalock, Henderson, Miz and Smith). ACL not as big of a concern as far as records. Nashville is around .500 and could go up or down. But the W-L for a team is not as important as player development, but the system having success and winning game WHILE developing players is exciting!
  3. Sorry meant to be sarcasm font. I think given how awesome his start has been, when you look at his monthly splits it just sticks out - but yes one good game tomorrow or the next day and all is well. I know he will be well. Seriously you take away the first 3 games of the ACL season and his last three games, his numbers are incredibly silly good.
  4. Bitonti struggling this month. Now 1-9 with 6K in July. 🙁 Yes small sample size, and I’m just impatient but want him to just take and force himself to the Mudcats. Also can we continue to talk about Melvin Hernandez, happy belated birthday young man, just 18 years and 1 day old, and 39 K in 37 IP in 9 games. That’s 4 IP per appearance, which is a lot for the complex. I am hopeful he can be next years M. Rodriguez or E. Cortez. He’s listed as 5’ 11” and 139 😳😳. Maybe a growth spurt gets him some more size and years of development ahead.
  5. DSL boys scoring runs aplenty. DSL-2 with 2 TDs 9(14 runs, however only on 7 hits, but Royals giving 14 free passes and 2 errors wow). DSL-1 only a TD on 8 hits. Made had a nice day 3-3 with a walk. And Peña “only” 1-4 with a double, …. And checks box score …. Yup a stolen base. Good grief #24 in 20 games. And fun fact - he has as many doubles (7) as strikeouts (7), and more walk/HBP (5 and 3 for a totals of 8) than strikeouts. Sheesh. This is a very offense friendly league, and a lot of wild pitching, wild defense, se numbers are off the charts even factoring in all these things. ACL boys trying to keep pace with 4 runs in 2 innings. Bitonti in a mini “slump” as he’s 1-7 this month so far with 4 K (0-1 with a walk today). Maybe he’s bummed he hasn’t gotten the call to Zebulon😉 - c’mon big fella let’s get a few big hits and force the issue Jospeh and I both with DSL posts, but highlight different players - says a lot of the DSl squads that we can both highlight different players of note😳
  6. Areinamo is one of those kinds of players that teammates and mangers must appreciate, he does little things. For a young kid, he doesn’t seem to make dumb decisions much, fields his position soundly but not flashy. His hitting was holding him back, good average last year with little/no power, and hitting turning around this year now, his movements at the plate when the pitch is delivered may mess him up and may need to be quieted down and his power may limit him, but another solid middle IF prospect along with ORae who can be versatile and seems to add to a club when he is on it. Miller - the only other real catching prospect we have outside of Quero. His an OBP machine due to walks and HBP.
  7. The Brewers prospect pool and talent is strong. Lacking the high end talent due to graduations of Chourio, Frelick and Ortiz, as well as the injury of Quero and Misiorowski’s struggles with any consistency, they still boast great depth. Name a position and there are several prospects playing well at young ages with more upside. Pratt, Y. Rodriguez represent 2 guys who could be top 100 prospects this year or next. Wilken and Boeve are top picks from last year who are at AA doing well, not great. But that’s aggressive for development. And the DSL teams are teeming with breakout candidates, Pitching lacks the high end (other than Miz who is really struggling with consistency, yes I’m repeating myself), and no Burnes in the system. But each club has 3-4 pitchers of note, and many are unsung but this is what the brewers have excelled at - getting innings out of players to make the rotation strong and the bullpen elite. So Yoho may not make top 100 lists as a reliever, but he could be dominant. And there are 2 of last years pitchers drafted in 2023 who are in AA (Yoho and Wichrowski) and 2 others who could join them (Manfredi and Kuener). Lower minors sees a lot of young arms - just look at Carolina where three 18yo (top pick Knoth, M. Rodriguez, and E Cortez) N]and two 19yo (‘23 draftee Letson, and D. Corniel) anchoring the starting rotation. So far from perfect, and less shiny than last year, but a deep prospect pool, and that competition can bring out the best, and having multiple players at a position means you are less reliant on one player developing, but expecting one of that group to shine. Like with SS where Cooper Pratt seems to be taking that mantle for now (but with Guilarte, DiTuri, Adamczewski, and DSL Made/Pena all ready to step up to fight for that too).
  8. Yeah sorry about that. Work has been crazy busy lately, so I have been left with Gameday/Box score scrolling and less viewing. Hoping to get back to some live game feeds this week again. It is true. A fly out, or single seem straightforward, unless you see the difficult catch, or the excuse me hit. They both count the same as a lazy fly ball or scorched single to right, but the process is so much different even in the results are the same. Glad we have folks like you watching the action. I hope to be back at that again soon.
  9. Gregory Barrios seemed to be turning the corner, and having a good year offensively. His defense is high quality and likely to stick at SS. With EBJ slumping, Barrios had a chance to become part of the future SS discussion. It now likely falls to Cooper Pratt, who will likely see a bump up to Wisconsin sometime this summer, maybe sooner rather than later. Or Jadher Areinamo will move over to SS, but he seems entrenched as a 2B prospect for now. If Barrios was having a true breakout season, it will be sad to see him go (as one of the minor league fans), but if this was a season of his career then he picked a good one. Hopefully Civale can provide some quality innings. He doesn't inspire me too much, hopefully I am wrong (as I have been so so many times), but I had the same feeling on the 2021 Daniel Norris for Reese Olson trade (but I also tend to overvalue our prospects too much).
  10. Top stars of the night so far HM- . Areinamo/G. Barrios, Both 3-4. 5. Case Martin 2-4 with 3 RBI in the win 4. Yophery with a 3-5 night with two 2B, and an outfield assist in the loss 2-3. Wiemer or Black, who will be #2 or #3. Both with 2 hits, and each with a HR. Black was for the lead in the 8th. Wiemer - nice to see him get some hits. Hopefully he can continue Black a ground out with the opportunity to extend the 10th for Wiemer 1. Blalock, 7 IP 1-hit ball with 5 K. Impressive stat line.
  11. Right. The Barrios, Areinamo, Adams trio is doing great things. Lara has such promise and so so young. But he is struggling right now. Really hasn't been what we expected from him as a hitter since his injury. But prior to that Barrios, Areinamo, O'Rae, Adams and Lara were a fearsome five-some of 19-20 year olds at season's start. Need to get Guilarte to start hitting in Zebulon to join these guys. But would be nice if Lara could turn his season around.
  12. So a 5-2 day so far (with ACL Brew Crew well behind and likely to take the loss, but it is Arizona, and crazy things happen). Stars of the day 5. P. Aquino - 6IP of relief pitching, very well done, 2 H, 2 R (1ER), 2 BB and 6 K 4. Gregory Barrios 4-5, SB, 3 runs scored, and an RBI 3. Brewer Hicklen, 3-5 with a HR. But the two non-hits were Ks. 2. M. Rodriguez - 6 IP start with 3H, 1 BB and 6 K. Great start by the 18 yo kid. 1. Carlos D. Rodriguez, 4-5 with 2 doubles, and no strikeouts
  13. Overall nice pitching performances for the DSL clubs. And I had to check - we have three DSL games. I couldn't find Hoff's performance at first. Only 4 ER allowed in three games. THe offense a little light compared to the usual, but still hitting: outhitting the opponents 18 hits to 8, and 3 2B and a HR. But the DSL-2 lose the doubleheader as Quintana strikes out swining, they lose 4-0. Qunitana 0-4 with 3K in the 2nd game. Would love to see him start to hit, but I'll take the season so far for the Pena/Made/Ortuno trio of the DSL-1 club
  14. outfield is one of those positions where things can sort themselves out. Some of the infielers in the system (ORae, Baez) could shift to the OF if they don't find a defensive home. The team seems try to sign/draft CF and SS (I mean it seems half of the ACL and DSL squads were CF/SS at time of draft/IFA signing), and let them find a home if they hit. But agree - another OF bat or two to push Yopehery and Lara, and eventually compete or replace the MLB OFs currently there. But it is not an area of "need" for the next couple of seasons given that Chourio is signed, Frelick/Perkins/Mitchell are pre-arb.
  15. Wichrowski - struggling a little in AA, but also just 21 and only drafted last year, but should be HM on that list I agree with Letson, Patrick and definitely Cornielle.
  16. Bad Miz night. Oh well. He has 2 nice starts. Consistency is the one thing he is lacking and needs to find it somewhere. Arm talent is there. And I’m sure the drive is there.
  17. Stars of the day 5. Clarke 2-3 with 2 walks, 4. Wood 1-1, 2BB 3. DiTuri 2-3 with a walk 2. A. Cornielle 6IP, 3H, 1BB, 5K 1. I. Collins 3-5, 2B, HT
  18. No info on pitch velocity but found this report on him. Also he has been highlighted here by Harold, one of the great BrewerFanatic staff writers. https://pitcherlist.com/pitchers-to-know-from-the-dominican-summer-league/
  19. I watched his performance (finally) No radar gun - but has a nice curveball, maybe 2 fastballs that can be flat but can have run (maybe it’s one vs the other??), and a good change up that flat out fooled a few hitters. First inning very shaky. Lead off man gets. Solid hit. Then he appeared too worried about the runner and walked the next man with a few non-competitive pitches. A double and then the mound visit. He settled in helped by a nice defensive play by Aguilar the to gun the runner at home. Solid second and third (I think three fly outs to CF). Fourth inning he had two strikeouts that were not called. In one the C Diaz threw to third after the pitch, only to have to immediately apologize to the ump. Next close pitch ball 4. Not sure. Next hitter another ball on what looked like strike 3, next pitch base hit. He got a strike out and ground out to en the inning. Other than the first he seemed in control. Some pitches were flat and hit hard for huts, or a few just missed and were fouls. But also really had some hitters fooled on a few occasions. If there are any “scouting reports” with his actual arsenal - I will also look. Of note, Chris Edwards did state that people compare him to Freddy Peralta, and that he also believes that Cortez could be a rapid riser (not sure if that’s just filing void because he was DSL last year the ACl to low A, or if Chris heard discussions about that?)
  20. That's a great point @LouisEly 2019 was a disaster of a draft, although wasn't it bad for all? Either way - the best players are not in the organization (Hamilton and Kelly). D. Miller could become a MLBer maybe. And Jeferson Figueroa, Nick Kahle and Nick Bennet are the only draft picks (4) still in the organization a mere 5 years later. That is very bad as a draft class.
  21. TRats sweep the DH. A combined score of 16-1 wow 10-1 earlier and 6-0 in the night cap Thats a 5-3 day for the affiliates (TRats 2W, Mudcats W, DSL Wx2)
  22. Carlos F. Rodriguez comes in for Hall. Walks the first man. Then a couple of singles. Line out by a great leaping catch by Dorian saves some runs. Pop up. But the next guy hits a hard single to RF. And Jacksonville gets 2 runs. A grounder ends it. Carlos did not look sharp. Meanwhile Shane Smith having uncharacteristic struggles. Gave up a HR in the first. In the third - walk, hit and HBP loads the bases. But a K and then a GIDP. Phew. Still it’s 57 pitches through 3 IP TRats are up big. Currently 10-1 And Carolina looking to end it. And a strike out by Chourio. 5-3 Mudcats win. Great start by Letson and a huge 2 inning save by newly signed Tyler Bryant.
  23. Peña still flirting with a BA of ~.500. Wow
