  1. ACL club survives the 5th up 8-4. In the 6th they allow two baserunners but no more. on to the bottom of the 6th with Bitonti and DiTuri coming up. Still 8-4. Let’s get some more runs please.
  2. Well Wilken doubles to start the ninth. But three ground outs and Wilken scores a run but that’s it. 7-2 loss. offensive didn’t look very competitive. CD Rodriguez with w of the 5 hits total. Complec Brew Crew start off big - and who else but Bitonti and DiTuri at the helm. But 8-0 lead now being whittled. 8-4 still in the 5th. Nice start by Hayden Robinson. 3 scoreless.
  3. Shuckers going to final inning. Only 4 meager hits. OK stats by Miz, but the bullpen gave up hits with some errors and now it is 7-1 Birmingham. Their offensive struggles are becoming offensive. Boeve has cooled. Wilken with a few XBH but little else recently. EBJ has gotten some hits to raise his average closer to .200. But boy it’s been tough to follow (or watch).
  4. Nashville wins it. CF Rodriguez just couldn’t get out former MLB J Walsh, who homered twice - 2run and solo Otherwise 6 IP and just those 3 runs off Walsh’s bat. 8K and 1Bb, 93 pitches. Zamora with 2 hits, Dunn and Collin’s with a hit and a walk apiece.
  5. Wisconsin bows out. 6-1 with only 6 hits (2 by ORae and Areinamo) and no XBH, but 2.2 IP by a rehabbing Henderson is a good thing.
  6. Final now 12-4. Yophery with 3 hits. The team only had 9 hits, and only had 6 walks, but Myrtle Beach committed 5 errors
  7. Misio- went 4+ innings - one bad inning. But gave up tons of hits. Although, maybe he will see the value of fewer pitches to go deeper. You give a bunch of hits and only give up a couple of runs. Worth the trade off of maybe going 6+ innings.
  8. That’s the second time tonight and think it’s happened before. Same thoughts or posts….
  9. Is Chad Patrick someone to watch out? His May starts have been nice. A bunch of Ks, 6IP per start in AAA. i haven’t watched him (he was not on my radar) and didn’t have milb tv on for Nashville game tonight. ill try to watch some, but curious if anyone has input on him - is he a legit SP option moving forward?
  10. Yeah. DiTuri finds the right time for HR #1. Good job young man. ACL Brew now up 4-3 M. Hernandez 4IP and 3ER, but 7K and 0BB!!
  11. Ugh. Harmless pop up by EBJ, absolute smash hit right to the 2B for out two by Boeve. Wilken just missed a hanging slider then takes up top of the zone for strike 3. Ugh the right guys at the plate. But just couldn’t get squared up. Biloxi offensive struggles just the theme of the year.
  12. And now it’s 5-4 deficit in bottom 10. Gotta get a hit, or two. Cmon biloxi.
  13. Is it me or is there just a general malaise in the system. Dont get me wrong. A lot to be excited about. But the teams are struggling offensively for the most part. Not a lot of hitters with breakout seasons, and a few pitchers going well, but not enough stand out performances. It seems top down right now. Injuries are a big issue with that. And expectations probably too. Oh well. I’ll stop the mini rant and enjoy two minor clubs at the top (one in first and the other only a game out) and the first place Brew Crew and be quiet now.
  14. Nashville hold on to win big. Dunn, Collin’s, Hicklen and Haase with multiple hits. Uribe pitches the ninth. Per the box score 2 BB, 1 hit and a run scored. Billoxi are having the blues. Only a meager 5 H. Boeve 1H and 2 BB, Cargo 0H and 2BB. ACL behind again (what else is new?) DiTuri 2Bb, Bitonti not a stellar night so far. 2 AB, 2 K :(
  15. Nashville up big. Biloxi struggling and pitchers get hit. Tough outing for R. Smith. Let’s see if Biloxi can ever get out of the offensive funk. Several good hitters in the line up they should not struggle this much. Ugh.
  16. TRats get not much. Lose 7-1. Carolina falls behind. Roughest outing on the young season for the very young pitcher. M. Rodriguez. Carolina get runners on in the ninth with Guilarte and Yophery up. Strikeout, fly out. Game set match.
  17. Jacob Misiorowski Highest talent, at AA, but could rank anywhere from 1-3Jeferson Quero Would be #1 for sure if healthy.Brock Wilken Potential is there, and could be #1 by end of the season.Tyler Black Professional hitter. Needs to adjust to MLB pitching. Lack of clear defense has always held him back, but clearly a top 5 prospect given age/level/track historyRobert Gasser Default top starting pitching prospect, and may be off this list sometime this year if he pitches more in the bigs, but could be a chance at #1 prospect status if he doesn't get enough innings in the Show.Carlos F Rodriguez Could rise big by the end of the end or fall big - is April CRod what to expect, or the 2 starts in May more the real him?Mike Boeve He is hitting and as long as he does he will rise.Luis Lara So young for his levelCooper PrattJuan Baez Hits at every level, and still young. Overlooked a bit in a deep system?Josh KnothYophery Rodriguez Star potential, but looks overmatched some nights. All to be expected for an 18 year old in A ball. Hopeful he can learn from his A ball experience. So much variability - could push for the top spot by next year if he puts it all together.Dylan O'Rae Whirling dervish of a player. Gets walks, BHP, slap hits, steals bases, scores from first. A little engine that drives the offense. Lack of power and true defensive home will keep him out of the top 5-10 discussion.Bradley Blalock Nice start to the year. Needs to stay healthy and hopefully move up to AAA to keep his prospect status.Brett Wichrowski Out of nowhere to the top 15-20 discussion. Already in AA less than a year after being drafted.Luke Adams Solid plate discipline. Average is not there, power still is there. Probably a 1B once he moves up. Still so young so still a lot of potential movement up or down the charts.Logan Henderson Make or break year as a prospect. Dominated low A last year, so high A will be a real test, and if he can make it up to AA he moves up the list.Eric Bitonti Still in rookie ball, it's his potential as a power hitter that is the key. Outside of Wilken he is the only true slugger on the list. He can rise, or completely drop off based upon his season this year and next at the plate.Wes Clarke AA/AAA, hits and slugs, can play 1B/DH and catch. Not a true "prospect" but hard to keep him off the list at this time. But clearly his "prospect" days are numbered either due to progression of others, or maybe because he finds the bigs this year or early next.Eric Brown Jr Elite defender. Feels like he has been here for years, but only drafted in 2022. Frelick, Black, Wilken, Boeve ascensions make him seem like a laggard, but he has a year or so to prove it. Defense is MLB ready. Top 5 are set but interchangeable. Quero missing a year and injury keeps him off the top spot, but would be otherwise. Boeve a big jump. Wichrowski has to join the list. I have Brown falling, but staying on the top 20 since he is at AA and has elite defense. Baez is only 6 months older than Y. Rodriguez, and is a hitting machine. Probably a decent IF for a defensive home. I want to add M. Rodriguez, Y. Herrera among other young pitchers, but still too early on to move them too high. Henderson and Blalock swap spots for me, with Blalock arrow up, and Henderson down until he gets back into action. This is tough. I like Wes Clarke, and as a hitting/slugging AA/AAA prospect (albeit older for his levels) gave him the spot, but both he and Brown will drop off is the younger players start to perform, and after the draft. Unless EBJ starts to hit, c'mon Eric, find that college ball swing of yours and start to hit the cover off the ball.
  18. Mis could be electric in a 1-2 inning stint and he is unhittable. But, his control is bad. That could lead to major hiccups in relief. A couple of walks and a HBP or WP will mean someone has to mop up his mess which will add more strain on the ‘pen. Whether he is a reliever or starter in the future, his inability to get strikes when needed leads to high pitch counts. In AA he gets away with it since the hitters are just overmatched. In MLB they will just let him throw four balls and take the free pass. Maybe he can learn control, but I agree minors is the best place to do this. Hader was a better pitcher in terms of control 3-4BB/9IP in the minors, MIs is more like 5-7BB/9IP.
  19. He is unhittable though all he needs to do is get the ball in the strike zone more often, hitters are typically overmatched against him.
  20. I completely agree. I have been waiting for this for a while now. Or limit his innings. He did well in the 2nd. And bumps in the 3rd. Could have called it a day there. Like last start. Build some confidence slowly. Wity the pitch counts and innings he is logging, easily enough to go through at the complex and work on control and command or just find the things that do work for him and focus on that. A two pitch pitcher with control can still be an effective reliever.
  21. His first 3 games: 13 AB, 1 H, 0 BB and 6K His next 8 Games thru today: 33 AB, 12 H (2 2B, 4 HR), 8 BB and 10 K. Still a lot of Ks, but better BB rate, AVG, SLG in the past 2 weeks. Encouraging. I agree, I hope he can keep it up and see time in Zebulon this season.
  22. Just what we need - another IL stint for a prospect with a possible injury in the game - between HBP or on the base paths (stealing or diving back), seems like a lot of injuries for multiple players. Not a great year for health. Y. Rod - stuff is too good to struggle this much. And KC Hunt with a poor stat line, I will watch his performance later but this doesn't match his pure stuff
  23. All fair. But it’s Not necessarily that I am underestimating, rather that I was viewing from the perspective of prospect evaluators and system rankings. I think Myers is a nice find but far from a “prospect”, and Letson has a handful of low A innings in a projectable body, but not high end when compared to top pitchers in other systems. Woessner is interesting to see how he develops. If he has starts like his last he has stuff that could project as a MLB starter. And could be a top prospect but that’s a few ifs. however … This highlights the depths of the system. The future rosters don’t have to wait on a specific player (or two even), but rather several at a position to succeed (ie, Ortiz. EBJ, Barrios, Pratt at SS; or Lara, Yophery, and most of Carolina/ACL rosters for OF depth). But for high end talent - few have truly stepped up yet with potential and production. Although there are a few months left on the season, our farm clubs are young, and the draft is in under 2 months with 5 picks in the top 100 and just under$13M pool. So a lot can change between now and mid season or even end of season. so I am super excited, but also realize we view these guys through our Brewers blue/yellow colored glasses.
  24. I think the trade off has been that we have developed depth pitching, but I’m not sure there is enough potential outside of Wichrowski to push for top prospect lists. Yoho is an elite reliever, but a reliever at A ball will not push up the rankings. So Lara, Pratt, Y. Rodriguez all just holding their own at such young ages is fine and good for us fans, but that does not impress those making these lists. However, it is less exciting than last summer when there were several players to watch with Chourio, Quero, Black and then the pitchers really picked up (Gasser, Mis, CRod). Im less concerned about the rankings per se, but the lack of a big leap forward in some players is concerning. Wichrowski is the only true helium guy. Boeve has kept hitting. And that’s it. Granted very young players at each level, and most leagues are not conducive to offense, so I see the depth of this system. But it does not have the elite prospects potential like many of including our rivals in Pittsburgh and Chicago.
