  1. Seppings making it interesting after TRats take the lead. 2 outs in the 9th, but 2 singles and a walk bases are loaded. C’mon Jack!
  2. Hey Blake Burke with 4 walks. Ok that’s a sign of life
  3. Anderson plays CF well. Definitely has the tools to play there. And his offense is starting to become respectable.
  4. And I turn it on and Renz walks two …ok. Maybe I don’t watch 😂
  5. I’m here. Catching up on game day. Haven’t turned on the games …. Yet
  6. I am saddened but not surprised. Dikember had a lot of struggles this year, but had a magical 2024. Hope he catches on somewhere and finds success on the mound again,
  7. Yeah would love @Spencer Michaelis to weigh in on Holden and Bentley since you even admitted you thought they were so unlikely to sign. Or any draft profiles that can be added while respecting those sites paywall EDIT: I see @Jake McKibbin started to do that on the general discussion page.
  8. I would imagine that they kept that carrot of a $800k offer out to someone to bite, and no takers from the 12-16 round crowd. All we can ask is the organization makes the serious effort to sign quality players, and it seems they likely did. This is a far cry from what transpired in the late 90s and a little into the early 00s when it seemed the team didn't try to maximize signing draft picks, or going for higher upside players. I also can say that I am fully in the Holden camp as my new favorite from this draft - watched a couple interviews on him, and he is so athletic with a chance to have a big power arm. Hopeful for development (command/control), health and well development and health!
  9. I think that Contreras to the IL is not happening per the Curt Hogg tweet. But Quero landing on the IL again may have forced the issues since no other catching option would be available except for those outside the organization.
  10. Well sounds like he won't go on the IL, but maybe he can sit more than one day, get Jansen to catch the Nats series and see if Contreras will at least sit 2-3 days a week. But that may require Haase and Jansen on the roster and can't imagine they keep 3 C for August??
  11. As I posted in the front page report, Jadher is a gamer. He is blocked with Pratt, Pena, Made as the high end prospect, and guys like Quintana, DiTuri and now CJ Hughes with a lot of money invested into them, not to mention Turang and Ortiz already at the big league level, Areinamo was a luxury. His ceiling wasn't as high, but he is a leader on the field, and can play any IF position very well, and has shown the ability to hit through high A and wasn't given the chance to do that a AA yet. He will get that chance, and I wish him luck. I can only hope my gut is wrong but just don't feel or see Jansen as an upgrade but I guess with Quero's injury, there will be no other internal catching options so had to find one elsewhere. The injury bugs this year in the minors in particular have been so upsetting, they have potentially thrown off a lot of plans for internal solutions (Quero, Wilken, Boeve in particular)
  12. Jadher? No.... This trade makes me so sad. I hope Jansen helps out in a big way. Losing Jadher is no small price indeed. He may not be a star, but has the likelihood of being a very good MLBer who can play an IF position, and is a leader on the field. Jahder will finally get his promotion to AA with the Rays. Much deserved and I wish you well young Mr. Areinamo.
  13. The one I am more surprised by is Coil. A left reliever going back for senior year turning down $150K (or so), wow. I was hoping he would be a great relief arm that could fly up, but we will see. Lauridsen and Cadiz I had written off early, but was hoping for when Underwood did not sign. But even in the BF.net podcast Spencer didn't even get into Bentley and Holden since we were all convinced they were not going to sign. Once again... baseball ... you think you know, but all you know is that you don't know 🙃 My first reaction was we would get 4-5 of the "day 3" picks (including the "shoe in" Coil). But we got what 5 high upside HS picks signed, and had money left over to make a last minute pitch to someone. Obviously the draws of college, or maybe being a top 50-75 pick in 2-3 years from now was too strong a draw for these kids, and they are kids. My kids don't play sports (I mean they do, but not at THIS level), and the draw of college is big, and I live in a college town. You are only 18-21 once in your life, and you get the rest of your life to be an adult... OK yikes... I'm way off track here. Let me stop ranting.... I think the Brewers did so well to get so many young kids to sign and with their track history of development particularly with pitchers this is a group of several young arms to add to what most analysts realize is a very deep pool. not all will develop, and injuries happen, so you do best by getting quality AND quantity and that is exactly what the organization just did.
  14. The past few years they did not really sign that many of the 17-20th round types, but did usually sign 1, so I thought Roupe was it. But we also usually get the 11-13th rounders too but Parker ('24) and Underwood ('25) break that rule. So it's unpredictable I guess. Who knew 😉
  15. Spend it on Coil 😉 Just kidding. Yeah I was surprised by Bentley, wow. Hoping for UCLA fans to be unhappy today
  16. Interesting. I remember he was known to be on their campus - and there was some thought was he would attend, but didn't realize that he was on site for that championship.
  17. It's not only the "money vs college" choice. For some kids it is the college experience, and delaying that adult job for a bit. College sports is a huge draw for many, and yes the very elite (1st/2nd round types) will usually sign as they want to be a pro now, the next tier (and even a some in that top tier) want the college experience and then hope to sign and join the MLB.
  18. Got them- wow that was empty. Yikes. You think it's the weather? Or the impending move to Wilson? Or just long season, mid week?
  19. Watching it and thinking to myself. You know Dalbec could just hit a HR and end this thing…. And Dalbec rips it deep to left and just fair. 2-runs walk off HR ”Bobby Dalbec says good night” See you all tomorrow.
  20. Really? Ok then I’m imaging things - I could have sworn I saw him a Friday or yesterday- but didn’t go back to review. Thanks for that clarification.
  21. Ugh. I saw the final score and just thought to myself. Yeager, Childers in AAA, Bryant injured 😢 Fitzpatrick in for the 3rd day in a row (or 3 of 4). Yikes though. I see Nashville in extras. Yeager let the runner score, Sounds need to tie it or better yet get 2 runs and walk it off. EDIT : And I see it was Zamora’s error that scores the runner. Boy what’s with these SS 🙄 ??
  22. Manfredi. 6 up and 6 down, and only 12 pitches. Wow efficient. Heading to bottom of 6. I'm off and will catch the box score later.
  23. Cornielle was pretty strong, but his pitch count is still his biggest enemy. 2 H (both in the first inning) and 2 BB (plus1 HBP) in 4 innings. 4K. Only the 1 run allowed. Manfredi pitches a 1-2-3 5th inning. Darrien Miller on a mini-heater and hits a HR to tie it up at 1-1.
  24. Grounder to Made, grounder to DiTuri and grounder to DiTuri with a nice play and strong throw. Mudcats win 4-0. Nice 4 IP of relief by Dorchies.
