  1. The Shuckers have just run out of gas. Man that team was humming in late April through early June winning the division. Then injuries mounted, but they kept winning. Now it’s just not the same. They lost 2 of their better pitchers (Crow to promotion and later injury; Hardin injured) and it’s really Kuehner as Wichrowski is so uneven, and Cornielle is inefficient with pitch counts. Hunt looked good for a few starts but overall his season has been a let down. Offensively they lost EBJ early, and then Adams/Wilken, and lost Rodriguez which was a big blow as he did hit and was a very good defensive catcher. Now Warren missing, Pratt is in a big slump. It’s Lara and Murray seemingly and occasionally Miller or Wood chipping in. Boeve is a shell of what he looked like in ‘23 and ‘24 when healthy.
  2. Great the organizational losses look like they will be mounting again. 😟 All teams in the minors are down, and only the Mudacts have more than 1 run (2 to be exact) - obviously not counting the winning DSL squads.
  3. Minor League MASH units: So in discussing the promotions, and how injuries have played a role, I went through I tried to highlight players who are either on the IL, or missing time, and some who have missed the whole season. League level (for players missing the whole year) are per B-Ref Brewers organizational page. AAA: Coleman Crow, RHP; Jefferson Quero, C AA: Tyson Hardin, RHP; Luke Adams, 1b/3b; Brock Wilken, 3b; Eric Brown Jr, ss (I forgot he played a few weeks and now missing the whole season almost). Not prospects but Tyler Bryant and Ramon Rodriguez whose injuries have really affected the flexibility of Biloxi's roster. A+: Bishop Letson, RHP; Marco Dinges, C. Out for season: Daniel Corniel (3IP), Will Rudy and Cameron Waggoner. A: Enniel Cortez, Yorman Galindez, Josh Knoth and Jason Woodward missing the whole season. Jack Hostetler, Caden Vire; and the unknown status of Jayden Dubanewicz and Braylon Payne. Yikes that is about 10 top end prospects as in those on the top 20-30 ranks or prior high draft picks (Adams, Wilken, Quero, Crow, Hardin, Letson, Dinges, Knoth, Woodward, and even EBJ) and several promising younger arms (Dubanewicz, Cortez, Galindez, Hostetler)
  4. 2-0 on the island, nice start and a reprieve from the past two days where there were only 2 wins across the organization (both yesterday). Now that the DSL has been in swing for a while, I am seeing that Juan Martinez and Johnathan Rangel are the best offensive performers along with Moises Polanco. Solid seasons and stats for all three. Martinez really struggled out of the gate in his second season, but has been on a heater in July. Johanderson Tarazona and Kegnnalex Seijias, both catchers I think. Pitching wise I have been pleasantly impressed with Diustin Mayorquin, as well as Joan Pena who has received some notice here. But Mayorquin has good numbers and overall peripherals for an also-17-year-old pitcher. Nice finds in Pena and Mayorquin.
  5. Good point by you and others. Maybe not as many promotions due to 1) youth, 2) lack of significant break out seasons and 3) injuries (probably the biggest with Dinges, Adams, Wilken, Payne, Adamczewski and even Made/Pena all missing noticeable time this year and a few unfortunately still out) Pitching side we saw a few (Crow, Hardin and recently Smith), but the biggest promotions were the '24 HS draftees all coming up from the ACL, and we did have some promotions of the '24 NDFA group. So there has been movement, but not big Pratt/Chourio/Yophery like late season bumps for a level or 2 up at this time point, but some of those happen mid to late August as well
  6. I think the issue with Pratt is he is more he is streaky and had a very good April and solid June, but his May and July have been poor offensively. His defense is good, but he is prone to gaffes that have not improved a lot. Lara had a rough start and the improved in May, and pretty steady in June/July. But his defense is elite already. So the numbers look the same but how they got there is very different and that is why I am more concerned with Pratt, as he looked great last year, and started off great, and really has been streaky and hasn't really shown a next level (his power slumped, and the K rate is lower but is up and down). Lara has shown some more plate discipline, and at least been steady, and his defense hasn't slowed down. So that's my take on these two young kids. Maybe Pratt is putting "more pressure" on himself to fill the offensive void given Adams/Wilken's departure? But shouldn't every prosect try to do that??
  7. Maybe this will get him outta that funk. Ok. Big win tonight. Get to go to bed with a smile 😀
  8. He is in a huge huge slump…..
  9. In the past 2 days within the organization, there has a been a win by the DSL Brewers Gold over the DSL Reds Rojas, and well that’s about it. Brewers loss and every minor league affiliate has lost, with the TRats trying to come back in the 10th….
  10. Yeah. He has really slumped since the ASG break. Not hitting, Ks, and the few hits were not many XBH. Huge opportunity for him to make a name as a 1B, but he doesn’t move up the rung, in fact falls with Fischer in the fold now.
  11. I will, take my 3 innings that I watched Torres, and 4 of Rodriguez’s work along with Tobias work and call that a night. Who needs hits?? 😬
  12. Manuel Rodriguez with a very solid 6 IP of work. Broca is in. Tobias strands two runners in the inning - nice comeback Griffin. But this may have been his last inning. I'm out for a little bit and will check in later. But Torres, Tobias and Rodriugez pitching was the therapy I needed today from the deadline madness, and the Tate Kuehner struggles.
  13. Yeah. We are a long way from March when there was "would another 20 year old rookie make the big club" chatter with Cooper. His AA season has still be very underwhelming. Defense is good, but can be inconsistent. He can make contact, but rarely hits it hard. He doesn't look the same as the confident swagger rising prospect from last year. I didn't watch when Turang was in the minors, so can't say, but he also has been the under the radar prospect since his draft year when he fell because he was a high prospect for too long or something strange like that.
  14. Big out there, Lameda atones for misplaying the first fly out a little and makes a great catch in left. One out after Tobias gives up a bloop single and a walk. Then full count, and the hard liner to left caught. Tobias has to buckle down and get two more outs in this inning. Then the offense needs to get going ASAP
  15. Luis Castillo with nice defensive in RF stealing a XBH away from the Lake County hitter. Trying to help get Rodriguez through 6 innings.
  16. Was hoping that the 4 walk night Tuesday was the beginning of that turnaround by Blake Burke. But I'm still waiting, and despite a walk tonight, he had a simple grounder to 2B and a fly out, at least no strike out tonight. I really was expecting more from Blake this season particularly with a bunch of guys injured (Adams, Wilken, Boeve), he had a chance to make a move, but is more at risk of being replaced by Fischer.
  17. Manuel Rodriguez is at 64 pitches through 5 IP, and really only given up the HR, giving up a total of 2hits, with no walks and 3K. His fastball is only 88-89, but he just has command and confidence. If he could every get his fastball to the 91-93mph range he would be a serious starting pitcher prospect. Griffin Tobias looked decent - my second time watching him. Nothing flashy or overpowering, he is just around the zone and his offspeed stuff does move. Will need to dig into his profile and stuff again later.
  18. Torres strike the batter out on three breaking balls (all sliders?). OK his offspeed stuff can move as the second one was nice had the batter completely fooled despite seeing offspeed on the first pitch. He is through 5 IP, let's see if he comes out for inning 6, or if it Griffin Tobias for the last 4 innings. Offense will need to get something going. A hit with a runner in scoring position is a good way to get a run across, right?
  19. And Wande rewards me complimenting him by hitting a pitcher. Torres says "you think my command issues are improving, I'll show you command issues..."
  20. Runners at the corners at the Mudcats have been 0-8 with RISP. Stay 0-8 as Anderson runs and is somehow called out, seems like his hand was there before the tag, but the camera angle is no good, so it's 50/50. Either was out #3 and Mudcats fail to get a run home again.
  21. First time watching Wande Torres in a while. Still with command issues, but he seems to be a little more consistent a least the last several batters I watched. Still too many non-competitive just missed the target pitches, but his velo is good (95 mph on his 50th pitch), and he has movement but not a lot of movement so his stuff feels flat, but a lot to work with. From April/May (when I last watched his start) to now I see some growth which is encouraging.
  22. And Peek walks the next batter. Yikes. Gotta get pound the zone. I mean you're down 8-0, just throw strikes and make them earn the hits.
  23. Kuehner gets a K, but then he just misses the zone with the next batter and walks the next batter. Now 7-0 Kuehner out, and Peek will come in. Tough night, the Shuckers defense tonight was not sharp and Kuehner paid the price.
  24. And Mudcats get the bases loaded and Adamczewski up, forces a pitching change and he flies out. Torres then gives up single, grounder, single and it's 1-0 GreenJackets. Dang it. No runs score and now give up one. C'mon Muddies
  25. Man Kuehner's next inning is still a struggle. Walk, walk single. Yikes.
