  1. Welp. 1-2 night on the farm. DeBerry surprising as the star pitcher tonight, outshining Patrick and M. Rodriguez who both had uncharacteristic outings. Sounds and T-Rats combine for as many hits as the Shuckers have. T-Rats can be entertaining and exciting the next few weeks with the promotions, and possible return of Dinges and possible debut of Fischer.
  2. Castillo grounds out, and T-Rats lose. Dang.
  3. Hedbert with a hit. Castillo up - let's see if he can create some magic.
  4. Manuel Rodriguez a very un-Manuel like night - lots of hits although pitch count not unreasonable. I think he will be better next turn around. Made and Pena fly out. It's up to Hedbert. Be a good time for him to start to get hot again.
  5. Made saves Yerlin. Bases loaded, and a nice play to field it and a good throw, and over to first. Inning ending DP. Yerlin is so tantalizing with his stuff, but just cannot command it enough. Maybe he will learn, because if he does he is an electric reliever. But just misses too much right now. You have it in you Yerlin, and I want to believe you can be another in a long line of homegrown stud relievers, but a few big steps to get through for now. On delay but heading to the 9th and T-Rats still down 6-4.
  6. It's Yerlin time in Peoria. I gotta step away for a minute, but we will see which Yerlin it is tonight, although 3-0 to the first batter, so yikes.
  7. T-Rats had something going, But a weak strikeout by Guilarte - man the at bats I've watched from him have not been the best. Then a blood fly and a great catch by the CF robs Diaz of a hit. 6-4 Peoria still leads.
  8. Catching up but Pratt 1-2 with 3 walks, that's encouraging. Burke with a big double. DeBerry's numbers look good sounds like some ups and down, but very encouraging for him. He has been the victim of a big inning, and sounds like the 1st was that inning for him but survived with only 1 run allowed, then buckled down.
  9. Well. The Shuckers close it out. Middendorf made it interesting. But 8-4 win Sounds are soundly losing. Wiener 5, rest of his team 4, Sounds 0.. ugh
  10. So the bullpen for the next month or two (assuming health, which this year has taught me never to assume it) once Miller can be activated and assuming no other issues (please) 8 man pen: Closer - Megill 8th/9th/Alt Closer - Miller 8th - Uribe 6/7th inning RHP - Mears, Anderson 6/7th inning LHP - Koenig, Ashby long reliever - Hall Seem right, or did I miss someone? (And 5 starters rotating out of Peralta-Woodruff-Priester-Quintana-Henderson/Miz, with Patrick and Gasser as back up options later)
  11. That is partly my worry with guys who seem to develop "out of nowhere" - the Brewers have done an excellent job of maximizing players/pitchers, almost to a fault. Partly due to league changes (players in and out much faster than like the '80s/'90s), partly age (trying to obtain players in the 23-28 yo window), and partly due to the organizational approach of maximizing the talents, many do not have sustained success, but a lot of them have their best years with the Brewers. Lauer is the pitcher who gives me that PTSD when I try to dream big. That's maybe why I made that post as I am starting to like what Priester gives. And to @sveumrules - right different styles of pitchers. And Lauer's success really happened with an increase in velocity which led to more K, and he was a fly ball pitcher. I think he never got that velocity back and that was one of the primary reasons he really fell back down hard if I remember correctly. Priester doesn't' rely on the K, but also may rely on grounders and elite defense.
  12. Can I be the debbie downer - I keep having Eric Lauer PTSD with Quinn Priester - came out of no where and have put together a great season, and if you look at Priester's season to date, it is almost a mirror reflection of Lauer's 2021 break out year. The big difference is the age - Priester is 24, and Lauer had his break out at age 26. But those two years are strikingly similar (Lauer more K and more HRs, Priester really more IP/game pitched). Still another 1.5-2 WAR season by Priester next year like Lauer would still make this trade a clear cut win, but hoping that Priester doesn't turn into a pumpkin again next season. The Brewers do excel at getting the best 1-2 years out a player (see Lauer, Hudson, Myers as recent pitching examples, and guys like Wong, Urias, Renfroe as hitters). I was wrong about the trade, and I am happy to be wrong about this, but a lot of players flash and give us fans a great 1-2 years, but fewer have sustained it. (For the record I was wrong about Burnes' break out in 2020 and that didn't age well the next season, so I ain't too good at this predicting thing)
  13. Tomorrow night. I may get a late start - and we’ll wednesdays seem to be nights to miss so maybe I’ll will it into a good night 😊
  14. Sorry went out with family tonight. My bad - not filling in my usual duties 😉
  15. Lara with a grounder that could be a double play but goes under the glove, and it’s a single that scores a run Boeve then grounds out for a GIDP to end the inning.….. baseball
  16. DiTuri throws a dart on the relay to get the runner at home. Very nice play by Rodriguez and DiTuri, saved a run or more.
  17. Nicasia doubles and 2 runs score DiTuri ground out scores a run Wood sac fly - Shuckers tie it up
  18. Batters on board everywhere. Runners on and a run scored on an error on a steal, Sounds 1-0 Biloxi has bases loaded now, down 2-1 but trying to start a rally Runners on for T-Rats Bitonti HBP
  19. Glad I don’t have milb tv on right now - otherwise I’d be having a meltdown
  20. Or in AA - as DeBerry was just promoted to Biloxi. So yeah there is a huge difference in the ages between farm systems, and the Brewers are in the top 5 in terms of overall ages, and some of that is brought down by Nashville and a few older (read as > 24-25 year olds) pitchers in Biloxi/Wisconsin who represent a few pitchers that brings that "average" up a bit. Really our high A team is closer in age to most teams low A rosters, particularly pitchers who are usually on average a year old than most hitters across all levels.
  21. So many moving parts in the past week. Good news (promotions and some rehab news) and bad news (injury front, and at least one so-far-overlooked promotion) and no news (lack of updates on a few players like Wilken). Maybe these moves jolt the teams (and myself 😉) out of those doldrums.
  22. Rather than post this for each team I will put it here since the ACL club was probably the youngest in the Complex leagues. And the minor league system as a whole is young, and succesful with winning percentages of about .530. There is subscription needed for this BA articles if you have it, but summary Brewers top 5 in youngest rosters overall and a few clubs (ahem ACL and Carolina) are tops or near tops in the league in youngest ages. https://www.baseballamerica.com/stories/which-mlb-teams-are-winning-in-the-minors-with-the-youngest-players/
  23. The Monday after trade deadline promotions .... That is a lot of movement in the past 48 hours. Still surprised at DeBerry - he has stuff, but has yet to put it together in an outing because he can get hit and gives up runs in bunches. But given his age I guess he gets the bump. A guy like Birchard is still a younger (11 months) and clearly has to work on command. Tanner Gillis could be the next up to Biloxi but may not do so this season, along with the 20 year Anthony Flores. I am excited for Mercedes to join his ACL pitching crew (Renz, Dubanewicz, Dorchies and Tobias) in Carolina, and that quintet should be fun to follow, along with Meccage, Hernandez and Torres. Pretty young group of pitchers in low A. I may post this elsewhere as well but Brewers (not surprisingly) have some of the youngest rosters in minors per this BA article (paywall / subscription required). I will just state that they are top 5 in youngest pitching and hitting across minor league baseball, and 7th best winning percentage, and are with Pirates, Guardians, and Dodgers with high winning percentages and younger rosters throughout. https://www.baseballamerica.com/stories/which-mlb-teams-are-winning-in-the-minors-with-the-youngest-players/
  24. What kind of alternate universe is this in 2025 - with DSL squads hitting and winning, and the other affiliated clubs struggling (with injuries and depletions catching up).... Good that there are draft picks and promotions to hopefully try to revive the affiliated clubs for the next month. Oh year and there is some big league club too 😉
  25. White Sox had 5 former Brewers pitchers on their 40-man roster, but after trading away Adrian Houser, they decide to double down and bump that up to 6: Tyler Alexander, Aaron Civale, Bryan Hudson, Elvis Peguero, Shane Smith and Gus Varland.
