  1. Oh gosh. I forgot the Mudcats slumped at the end of the Carolina league first half. Yikes, need to get on a roll, and haven't followed the 2nd half standing. And who are they neck and neck with ? ..... FredNats 🙄 And they play the last week of the regular season probably for the 2nd half title on the line
  2. Sounds like Coil has a very good sweeper, and then my inference (not stated at all by BA) is that he could be a pitcher who could be "Yoho" type in that a couple of very good pitches and some development could see him move up. Again BA reviewed his pitches, and I only paraphrased a half a sentence of the write up, but my take home / interpretation from the BA article was very good pitch, and could be a solid move quick reliever if things go right. They did have a lot to say on Owens and my interpretation of it is a guy with a bunch of good pitches but needs refinement, which is something this org has done well with over the past several years.
  3. Sanchez comes on and closes the door for another Mudcat win.
  4. Fitzpatrick in. And one pitch and gets the save? Nice play by Vargas. Gregory Barrios makes the last out - he was visible today Thoughts with Bryant - hopefully nothing serious. Didn’t look off but he called for the trainer after the ball to make it 3-2.
  5. Oh no. After a near miss - Lara got hurt diving back to first base, but he’s ok Now Bryant one strike away from the save a points to his elbow. Yikes. He’s coming out. Ugh. Not good at all. Tyler was coming into his own. Hopefully minor injury and an abundance of caution, and he’s back healthy soon.
  6. Bryant with 2 strike outs to start the 9th. One out to go. Carolina gets some insurance runs (a run back) with Ibarguen HR - his first in low A.
  7. Merkel also playing with fire but gets a grounder to Pratt end of 8 innings. Shuckers nursing a 6-5 lead. In Delaware, Tobias out after two solid scoreless innings. Bryan Rivera in.
  8. Bowman replaces Manfredi and he gets the out. Phew.
  9. And Manfredi walks Gregory Barrios. Ugh. 6-5 lead bases still loaded. Let’s go Shuckers. Get out of this and get some more insurance runs.
  10. Walther walks, and gets to 2nd in a grounder. Then Made walks, with Walther advancing on a wild pitch. Another wild pitch scores Walther. But Pena Ks. 4-1 Muddies however. in Montgomery- Manfredi, HBP, and two walks. Bases juiced but two outs. He’s playing with fire.
  11. Tobias 3 up and 3 down. Two Ks. Lots of curveballs. Nice inning. He could go the rest of the way IF he can keep the lead, or IF the offense could get some more runs. Hoping Fabian is out of the game soon.
  12. Man Mudcats cannot figure this young reliever out. He goes 3-0 to Walling watches 2 fastballs down the middle; then swings through the pitch and corkscrews into the ground. Muddies will be happy to have him out of the game soon. Still 3-1 on to bottom of 6 IP. Meccage out after 5 solid. Griffin Tobias in.
  13. Meccage having an impressive outing- now through 5 IP, and just 2 hits, no walks to 6 K. And impressively 64 pitches to get through 5 innings.
  14. It’s Middendorf outing for Biloxi. This could be interesting….
  15. This Fabian pitcher for the Shorebirds has some sick stuff - strikes out Made, Peña and Bitonti. All three looked like they were no match for this lefty. Bitonti was just way way way overmatched. Eric still has some huge holes in that swing. Yikes. He’s been better but I just don’t see him moving up to Wisconsin with his K rate.
  16. Meccage guts his way through the inning. Hard hit out. A hard hit near homer - may have hit the top (may have just cleared the line for a HR? Official call triple). A deep hard hit fly out scores a run. Then Meccage gets the strike out. 3-1 Muddies. Peek has faced 12 batters in 3.2 IP of relief - that’s 12 up, 11 down. One walk allowed. Keeping Shuckers afloat, still 6-4 Shuckers lead.
  17. Spain doubles but is stranded. Peek has done well in relief on to bottom of 5. In Delmarva, a HBP on walling, Walther doubles. The Adamczewski grounds out to end the threat. Still 3-0 Muddies
  18. Pratt grounds out to SS and Restituyo score. 6-4 Shuckers lead.
  19. Not to be outdone, Peek retires 5 in a row and it’s 5-4 Shuckers through 3.
  20. Oh my turn away to watch the bug club for a moment and Petersen struggles in the 2nd. Biscuits get 4 runs. And the reliever for Montgomery has retired 6 straight, now 7 straight as Vargas grounds to Gregory Barrios who makes a nice play
  21. Line drive single to left, and the Kernels score the runner, and take the game. 5-4. Nice comeback for the T-Rats but not enough hits with runners in scoring position.
  22. T-Rats oh so close to getting the runner in. Top 10, and a K then a groundout and the runner (Guilarte pinch running for Hedbert) and then Yhoswar ground to SS and the throw is behind the first baseman who may or may not have tagged Garcia. First it's safe then the umps get together and they say he tagged Garcia. On to the bottom of 10
  23. Pretty active top of the 1st for Biloxi. Lara singles but is picked off. Wood with a hit, then Pratt walks and Warren on an infield error. Murray Ks. Then next pitch - Miller gets a 2 run single to right, and very next pitch Spain just ekes over the short porch in right. 5-0 Shuckers. And Vargas singles. And Restituyo singled a bloop to left. They have batted around, and Lara up again. Just a lot going on in the first half inning.
  24. ESPN updated their teams top 10 rankings after the draft, and the Brewers were among only a couple of teams who did have a ‘25 draft pick- because of the quality of the top 10, and the perceived lower ceiling of Fischer (most outlets cite they love the bat but view him as 1B only). Many clubs have 2 and some 3 of their draftees automatically slot into the top 10.
  25. As alluded to yesterday - the starting pitching depth at the big league and AAA level is going to get more crowded with Zimmerman as AAA depth again, and Gasser joining C. Rodriguez and Cortes in rehabbing. Still a lot of season to go, but a solid 5 man rotation at the bigs for now, and already 5 men in AAA with Cortes, it’s nice to see the potential of getting healthy and having a full complement of starters. And Yoho looked sharp. First two pitches missed, but then threw 11 strikes (4 foul balls) of the next 13 pitches. Had the first guy fooled on a change for a weak pop up, and the last struck out on a change I believe. Still trying to figure out the plan with Bjorn Johnson as a multi inning reliever but not true piggyback set up either. We will see.
