  1. I think that Contreras to the IL is not happening per the Curt Hogg tweet. But Quero landing on the IL again may have forced the issues since no other catching option would be available except for those outside the organization.
  2. Well sounds like he won't go on the IL, but maybe he can sit more than one day, get Jansen to catch the Nats series and see if Contreras will at least sit 2-3 days a week. But that may require Haase and Jansen on the roster and can't imagine they keep 3 C for August??
  3. As I posted in the front page report, Jadher is a gamer. He is blocked with Pratt, Pena, Made as the high end prospect, and guys like Quintana, DiTuri and now CJ Hughes with a lot of money invested into them, not to mention Turang and Ortiz already at the big league level, Areinamo was a luxury. His ceiling wasn't as high, but he is a leader on the field, and can play any IF position very well, and has shown the ability to hit through high A and wasn't given the chance to do that a AA yet. He will get that chance, and I wish him luck. I can only hope my gut is wrong but just don't feel or see Jansen as an upgrade but I guess with Quero's injury, there will be no other internal catching options so had to find one elsewhere. The injury bugs this year in the minors in particular have been so upsetting, they have potentially thrown off a lot of plans for internal solutions (Quero, Wilken, Boeve in particular)
  4. Jadher? No.... This trade makes me so sad. I hope Jansen helps out in a big way. Losing Jadher is no small price indeed. He may not be a star, but has the likelihood of being a very good MLBer who can play an IF position, and is a leader on the field. Jahder will finally get his promotion to AA with the Rays. Much deserved and I wish you well young Mr. Areinamo.
  5. The one I am more surprised by is Coil. A left reliever going back for senior year turning down $150K (or so), wow. I was hoping he would be a great relief arm that could fly up, but we will see. Lauridsen and Cadiz I had written off early, but was hoping for when Underwood did not sign. But even in the BF.net podcast Spencer didn't even get into Bentley and Holden since we were all convinced they were not going to sign. Once again... baseball ... you think you know, but all you know is that you don't know 🙃 My first reaction was we would get 4-5 of the "day 3" picks (including the "shoe in" Coil). But we got what 5 high upside HS picks signed, and had money left over to make a last minute pitch to someone. Obviously the draws of college, or maybe being a top 50-75 pick in 2-3 years from now was too strong a draw for these kids, and they are kids. My kids don't play sports (I mean they do, but not at THIS level), and the draw of college is big, and I live in a college town. You are only 18-21 once in your life, and you get the rest of your life to be an adult... OK yikes... I'm way off track here. Let me stop ranting.... I think the Brewers did so well to get so many young kids to sign and with their track history of development particularly with pitchers this is a group of several young arms to add to what most analysts realize is a very deep pool. not all will develop, and injuries happen, so you do best by getting quality AND quantity and that is exactly what the organization just did.
  6. The past few years they did not really sign that many of the 17-20th round types, but did usually sign 1, so I thought Roupe was it. But we also usually get the 11-13th rounders too but Parker ('24) and Underwood ('25) break that rule. So it's unpredictable I guess. Who knew 😉
  7. Spend it on Coil 😉 Just kidding. Yeah I was surprised by Bentley, wow. Hoping for UCLA fans to be unhappy today
  8. Interesting. I remember he was known to be on their campus - and there was some thought was he would attend, but didn't realize that he was on site for that championship.
  9. It's not only the "money vs college" choice. For some kids it is the college experience, and delaying that adult job for a bit. College sports is a huge draw for many, and yes the very elite (1st/2nd round types) will usually sign as they want to be a pro now, the next tier (and even a some in that top tier) want the college experience and then hope to sign and join the MLB.
  10. Got them- wow that was empty. Yikes. You think it's the weather? Or the impending move to Wilson? Or just long season, mid week?
  11. Watching it and thinking to myself. You know Dalbec could just hit a HR and end this thing…. And Dalbec rips it deep to left and just fair. 2-runs walk off HR ”Bobby Dalbec says good night” See you all tomorrow.
  12. Really? Ok then I’m imaging things - I could have sworn I saw him a Friday or yesterday- but didn’t go back to review. Thanks for that clarification.
  13. Ugh. I saw the final score and just thought to myself. Yeager, Childers in AAA, Bryant injured 😢 Fitzpatrick in for the 3rd day in a row (or 3 of 4). Yikes though. I see Nashville in extras. Yeager let the runner score, Sounds need to tie it or better yet get 2 runs and walk it off. EDIT : And I see it was Zamora’s error that scores the runner. Boy what’s with these SS 🙄 ??
  14. Manfredi. 6 up and 6 down, and only 12 pitches. Wow efficient. Heading to bottom of 6. I'm off and will catch the box score later.
  15. Cornielle was pretty strong, but his pitch count is still his biggest enemy. 2 H (both in the first inning) and 2 BB (plus1 HBP) in 4 innings. 4K. Only the 1 run allowed. Manfredi pitches a 1-2-3 5th inning. Darrien Miller on a mini-heater and hits a HR to tie it up at 1-1.
  16. Grounder to Made, grounder to DiTuri and grounder to DiTuri with a nice play and strong throw. Mudcats win 4-0. Nice 4 IP of relief by Dorchies.
  17. Man things got interesting in Zebulon in the bottom of the 8th. With two on and two out, a long deep fly ball that is just foul, and Dorchies got lucky there. Next pitch a routine grounder to DiTuri as the batter stumbles out of the box, but the hop DiTuri expected never happened and under his glove, and it's an infield single to load the bases, but DiTuri makes up for it with a nice catch on a pop up into foul ground in the bullpen area on the very next pitch. Those last three pitches were eventful.
  18. Adamczewski is human after all. After the BB in the 1st, he goes fly out, K and pop out. I mean he can't OPS over 1.000 for the whole year 😉
  19. Sam Garcia gives up 5 in the bottom of of the 5th. The T-Rats are becoming harder to watch. Maybe I go back to calling them the T-Rays lol. And speaking of which - since his former teammate and potential competition for future 1B of the organization was drafted, Blake Burke has dug himself into a major slump. 4-31, with 14 K! Yikes EDIT: just realized Burke and Fischer were NOT teammates, as Fischer played at Ole Miss in 2024.
  20. Dorchies in now. Gives up a lead off walk, then gives up a SB. But a grounder, a K and then fly out. He keeps the shutout intact. Edwards referring to him as "Dubanewicz" several times this inning - and understandably as he is a tall young RHP, last name begins with a D, and Dubanewicz on all of our minds....
  21. @MudcatsfaninBrunsCO - I can't open the attachments. FYI - I went back to try to watch, but no video of Dubanewicz warm up and no mention by Edwards of what - it just sounds like he just started to warm up and called the trainer and after a discussion walked off frustrated. Hoping it was a minor tweak or something. Just so frustrating. And Sam Garcia's frustrating high A season continues. And man does the big league club just need to play winning teams only, they sure seem to play down to some of the lesser weights - they went only 4-2 against the Rockies and sure that's a winning records but that team is barely above .250 on the season, and now on the verge of 2-4 (hopefully only 3-3) against the Marlins.
  22. This has been a few really really rough weeks, heck, no just a tough summer with injuries, feel like we can't catch a break. Yikes
  23. I hear you Mass. I know what I’m asking for - just to hear “yeah they’ll be ok, we just want them fully healthy when they are back but all is good”. And I know if with details we will never be fully reassured, but as a fan that’s what I really want to know- that these kids I’ve watching, rooted for and ‘pencil’ into my 202x brewers line up will be be good to go, good as new, and hopefully even better. Quero injury - ugh. But that is his other shoulder - non-throwing arm, so less long term ramifications I would hope. And amazing Iron Man streak for Chris Mehring. Anyone who watches knows he is totally vested into the team. His excitement is contagious, and you do have to turn the volume down on some of those calls 😃 Seriously. And that team is really a HS / or college freshman squad too, all key players are 18-20 years old. once again great write up. Thanks to Jim, Joseph, Dan and Ben for these detailed and incredibly informative write ups - did I miss someone ?
  24. A who’s who of my early days on this site - Hart, Nelson, Hendrickson, Capellan. I mean of course Fielder and Weeks, and Dave Krynzel too, but I got to learn and read more on guys like that, and like Mitch Stetter, Dennis Sarfate.
  25. Oh please. ‘And another signing. I am hoping for 4-5 “day 3” picks. We know Route, Mills. Expect Coil. And I’d love 2 more - hopefully Hughes and another.
