  1. Well the T-Rats got rained out so that makes the winning percentage go up 😥 This is a trying year for Victor Estevez as this team just isn't playing up to his standards. But heck yeah, Carolina looking to sweep the DH, Nashville with a great late win, and Shuckers looking to start a new winning streak if they can hold on to a late 8-3 lead. Childers is in for the Shuckers and strikes out the first 2 he faces.
  2. Wilken singles. And then Warren deep to right and the Bash Bros - it's now 8-3 Shuckers. Hot dang!! In Carolina it looks like Hodges is struggling and concedes a run on 3 walks then a HBP. There are 2 outs.
  3. Shuckers fail to score with Adams CS after his walk, then Boeve K, and Pratt pop up Merkel on to try to keep it a 6-3 lead. And retires the side 1-2-3. On to top of 7th. And it is Hodges in for Carolina, but despite his hit tonight Bitonti is struggling mightily in low A. IN his last 13 games (since 4/24) coming into tongiht he is hitting .179 with 27 K in 56 AB with only 6 BB and 10 H. Gotta make some contact Eric as he 1-4 with a K tonight.
  4. Looks like Kevin Ereu got his first hit to drive in Luis Corobo in Arizona. Carolina up 10-1 and maybe it's Anfernny Reyes territory for Mudcats to give him a chance to get a couple of clean innings without pressure? Shuckers -Restituyo walks and gets to third on a steal and an error, and almost scores but the throw bounces back to the pitcher midway down the 3rd base line and Adams walks but no it's called a strike?? But he walks on the next pitch nowhere close.
  5. So I was looking and Rivera is through 5 IP with 85 pitches, so I wondered if they would try to have back-to-back CG, but with this long inning and big league, I wonder if they just go to the bullpen for the 6th/7th inning.
  6. And Cornielle goes up 1-2 in the count, but a nice pitch that Isaac lays off then two non-competitive pitches (#93 and#94) and comes out after 4.2 IP. I said it with Alexander - his command needs to improve and he needs to be more efficient. He can get guys out with his stuff even if it's not overpowering, it is still good. But to move up he will have to clean up that command and get more outs quickly. But you can do it Alexander keep at it.
  7. Dang it a couple of possible DP balls - the first one goes off Pratt's chest on the bounce right to Warren who gets the out at first. Then a single. Then the other grounder slow and high to Warren, who gets the lead runner and a good throw by Pratt makes it close but safe, so the run score. Cornielle laboring to finish the 5ht. 6-3 lead now.
  8. Walk (Adams), single (Boeve), single (Pratt bloop hit), walk (Wilken) and a Lara sac fly and Biloxi gets 2 runs back. Now lead 5-2. Cornielle was good tonight, but not great, and at 71 pitches he may be done after 4 IP or may get a chance for the 5th but I doubt much more than that. And Warren grounds in a force at second, and a run scores, now 6-2 Shuckers. EDIT: updated the score as I was off by a run
  9. Did he look like he hurt himself on any of those steals?
  10. Boeve crushes one to right. Wow - that is a sweet swing if he can get that timing back hold on. 3-1 Shuckers!
  11. Wow. Complete game gem by Hernandez. That’ll save the bullpen. But still so impressive, as he has had a good season and is turning into this year’s Manuel Rodriguez - essentially giving you 5 IP per start, and generally very few walks which is how you do that.
  12. 6 IP and needing only 81 pitches is great. 7K to 0 BB is even better. Especially since he is so young. I will have to watch him pitch again, but from what I saw earlier this year he has a lot of upper body and arm action and if he gets more lower body into his pitching he could have more velocity I would think, but I am far from an expert.
  13. I am happy to see Vire is only a 7-day IL stint at least. Pray that it is not more than that. And Gillis and Welch swapping teams makes sense seeing how Gillis needs the challenge, and Welch could use a chance to get some confidence back.
  14. I want only the best success for every prospect and would love to see a team full of all these guys I've watched and rooted for the past several minor league seasons But I would pump the brakes on Wilken. He has had a great 3 weeks, but there is a big difference between a guy (albeit very talented and a recent high draft pick) doing well at AA in his second go around (yes all the disclaimers of his lost season last year) and getting to the bigs and succeeding. I think it is also good for Brock to have some confidence (after his disaster season last year) for a little while in AA and work himself through the next struggle/slump that inevitably occurs and then move him up to AAA. Now it would be great if he forces that discussion of a big league call up near the end of the year, like Miz and Yoho did last year, but I would personally like to see him continue to hit well for a little at the current level and then talk about the next step up. But I can still dream of an IF that boasts him and Pratt some day in the near future.
  15. Wilken pops out - flies out to foul territory right field and a nice catch by the RF in the bullpen Warren gets a hit because he cannot be retired tonight (4-4, and a walk) Then Rodriguez flies out to RF Spain hits it deep but playable. Game. 7-4 loss. See you all tomorrow night.
  16. Bowman does his job. But Restituyo pops out. Adams with a nice ball but great catch by their CF. then Lara walk and Pratt pops out to foul territory and a great over the shoulder catch by their 1B. Nice defense by Montgomery, while Biloxi has been shaky on a few occasions. Need to rally in the 9th But first Bowman needs to get through bottom 8.
  17. Bowman in to try to keep it a 7-4 lead. C’mon Bo
  18. Bases clearing double for Montgomery. Ugh Crow pitches 69 pitches and got through 4.1 IP and gave up 2. Mendoza pitches 69 pitches and gets through 2 IP and gives up 5. Dang it
  19. Restituyo just lost the ball. It’s a “hit” for Ledbetter of the Biscuits, but simply trying to find it and he misplays it. Bases loaded and only 1 out instead of 2 out and only 2 on. Yikes
  20. Oh he’s very conscious. The balls he’s hitting are being knocked unconscious…..
  21. Tie game Wilken says I’m outta here. Another HR to left center. Alright Brock!
  22. Dang Crow just didnt have it for a 5th inning and Mendoza can’t get the last out. Ugh 4-3 deficit.
