  1. And after a full count - close pitch on the 3rd ball call. But next pitch and a fly out SHUCKERS WIN again! 14-12, 2 games over .500. Wow just wow. Great comebacks tonight for Mudcats and Shuckers, and tough luck loss for TRats. Great pitching, timely hitting. Boy those would be some nice things to bring the big leagues right now 🙄
  2. And the rain in Gwinett is now heading to Columbus No additional runs after Spain lines out. Yeager on to try to get a game over before the rain causes it to be delayed. STrikes out the first batter, but then a base hit off the fists. Man a GIDP would be so nice here, but a K will work. Heck yeah! (and no GIDP since the runner got to 2nd on indifference) One more out to go. C'mon boys
  3. Still rain delay in Gwinnett, but game still on in Columbus. Ramon Rodriguez strikes out looking on a breaking ball that he seemed completely fooled by. Oh well. Still only 2 outs, and a chance to expand the lead here.
  4. So last year 8 runs was a week's worth of offensive output for the Shuckers, I think I just heard this was the 6th or 7th time they have done it this year in just about a month of baseball. Wow, would not have expected that. And Wilken with a double to deep left, and Warren singles now, runners at the corners, and only 1 out. And Ramon Rodriguez the hottest hitter up.
  5. Oh heck yeah! 3-1 count and a very close pitch called strike that was low, maybe edge of zone, either way the ump calls it a strike to Yeager's advantage/favor. Next pitch foul, and the next a fastball in on the hands and a swinging strike. On to the 9th. Still a 3 run lead (8-5). An insurance run or two would be nice, but that's me being greedy. 😉
  6. Manfredi throws 1 strike out of 11 pitches, the 4 straight pitch walk, then another walk and a 2-0 count before getting a 2-2 pitch to be a grounder to the pitcher. 2 outs, runners on 2nd/3rd and now a pitching change. Manfredi just didn't have it. Need to keep zeros here. Looks like Yeager here for a 4-out save opportunity. This team has life and a pulse.
  7. Manfredi in for the Shuckers, pitching with the lead. Let's hope for some solid relief here. OK, starts with a K swinging on the first batter. Good start. Ugh then a 4 pitch walk, c'mon Manfredi let's getting it going here. The 3rd walk for Stephen Paolini of Columbus. A mound visit let's see if this gets him going. C'mon SHuckers
  8. And Murray. Ethan Murray a 3 run HR. Now an 8-5 LEAD for Biloxi. Wow just wow. What a game this has turned into.
  9. OK wildest sac fly I've seen. A line drive to RF and the RF slides to catch it with an incredilbe diving play to make the out and save extra bases. Then on the throw in it gets away, Wilken scores to tie it. So an out, a run in, and 5-5 game. Heck yeah!
  10. And Wilken walks. It's a pitching change for Columbus. Bases loaded and no out, and 5-2 Clingstones lead. Shuckers showing life, more than the big Brewers have in the past couple of weeks sheeesh. Meanwhile Tyler Jay (the Shane Smith 40 man position occupier) and Eason McGee give 2 hitless innings Sounds cling to a 2-1 lead heading to the 9th. Back to Columbus and Warren walks! It's 5-3 Shuckers. And Rodriguez delivers the hit. Love the comeback in them it's now 5-4 game, bases still juiced and still no out!! That is life. Love it. Mudcats. Trats are improving and SHuckers showing more life than last year.
  11. Offense showing some signs of life. Lara with a hit, then a SB, Adams hit a liner right over Lara's head, so runners at the corners and Pratt joins the hit parade and it's now 5-2 Wilken is up. Let's see if the offense can get some crooked numbers this inning. Wilken trying to tying it up on that swing. Oh my.
  12. Not the prettiest or most efficient stat line for Mis (compared to a couple of his last few outings), but if he is done (which I would suspect) he went 6 IP, worked through some traffic and got 5K (and 4BB, 5H) on 92 pitches and his last one was 98.4 mph per GameDay, so he had the velocity late.
  13. Chris Edwards calls them the "Cardiac 'Cats", we call them relentless. Either way that Carolina Mudcat team is something special with a stacked line up, solid pitching, and a never say die approach late. Let's enjoy them while we can. And then enjoy them on TRats/Shuckers in the future
  14. And a grounder off the first basement then the throw goes home and the runner is SAFE! 4-3 Mudcats! Nice win. Great comeback, and what an effort by Holobetz. Now for the other affiliates to get a magical inning or two. At least the minor league clubs are looking up at the moment.
  15. Nadal walks on 4 pitches. The pitcher goes 2-0 on Walling, and mound visit, next pitch a ball. Full count and Walling has a single to RF and then an error on the throw in to the IF, and Nadal scores and Walling awarded 3rd base. No outs, tie game and winning run 90 feet away. Let's go Mudcats!
  16. Biloxi settling in after a rough start. Shuckers are outhitting the Clingstones 4-2, but runs are 4-1. And Clingstones have drawn 5 BB, while the Shuckers surprisingly none. Mudcats had a chance and the tying run moved up to 90 feet away, but nothing happening. Still down 3-2 on to the 9th. I guess there can be some 9th inning magic I hope, right?
  17. After his rough inning early on I didn't think he had a chance of going more than 3 innings of relief. Solid recovery. Now that offense needs to come to life late - let's be relentless tonight. Otherwise - that was some HR by Wilken, not crushed, but just attacked the pitch (which was good to see) and it was a liner over the fence. Good job Brock.
  18. Well Root gives up back-to-back singles to start the 8th. Limits - a grounder could have been DP (I didn’t watch to see if it was close) then sac fly and K. And it’s 1-0 Whitecaps. TRats offense needs to go. Gotta head out for a bit and will check back to see if maybe there is a hero in this game. Hardin pitched fantastic in the 5th and 6th innings. Deserved the win. Offense needs to have a fantastic inning soon.
  19. Holy heck. I assumed Hardin was out after 6. I turned it off and he goes 7 innings. 9K, 0Bb, 4 H in 85 pitches. That’s so impressive! Now Bayden Root in and in some trouble.
  20. So since he just fielded a pop up a few minutes ago, I now see that Juan Baez did return after last night's HBP. Very good news, as how he went down looked scary, so I'm happy to see that.
  21. 94 mph strike and it's a K to end the 6th inning. Hardin works around the "error" and a single. 75 pitches to get through 6 scoreless innings and 9K. Man the Letson-Hardin combo is something to dream on....
  22. And Areinamo and Hardin got jobbed there. Not a great throw by Jadher, but Burke clearly did get back to the bag on the reply. So runner on in the 6th, Hardin still in, and no outs in the 6th.
  23. Oooo. I'm going to have to watch Tyson Hardin's start from today. That stat line through 5 IP is pretty enticing, and we will see if he trots out for the 6th in a 0-0 pitching duel.
