  1. Luke Adams still has a ways to go. He is not getting fully untracked. But tonight he took his bat off his shoulders, and make solid contact. Only one was a hit, but he is swinging and making average contact. If he can start to swing at those mistakes, and make a little more contact (maybe a timing thing?) he will get his offense going. I still have faith in him, as he has that look of a 'ball player, and does have size and athleticism. Just too passive at lower levels, and now still not making as much contact, but tonight he looked much better than first week of games when he looked out of place. I know I just jinxed him here, but Adams can overcome even my jinxes.
  2. "Dan" works around a 2-out walk. A nice catch by Murray. That's 2 innings of relief for Mr. Merkel - the large or big mammal.
  3. Brock with another nice play. Shifted to SS and gets to the 3rd base side, fields it well and very nice throw. His defense looks legitimate in the few games I caught this year. I see him staying in at 3B, hopeful his bat can get going and he can regain that prospect status.
  4. Wilken hits it well down the line but right at his defensive counterpart at third. Inning over with no further runs. But nice at bats by Murray and Pratt, and Wilken just missed a hit I think.
  5. And PRatt steals 2nd, and then 3rd base. Wow. He is having a night.
  6. Cooper Pratt having a night. A big RBI single, well struck ball and it's 5-1 Shuckers. Earning their H back, no "Suckers" tonight.
  7. Whoops. LOL. I will still screw this up a few times this year.
  8. That is hilarious. Ok. I will probably now confuse these two names all season long. LOL
  9. Ethan Murray with a well, well hit ball to right center. Another lead off double (for the 3rd time in 4 inning that they have a lead off double).
  10. Whoops - somehow I thought he was the big mammal, my bad earlier. And he keeps the K parade going. 15 outs, and 13 of them via the K.
  11. And one K shy of the record. 12 K is the Biloxi record - last done by …… Miz in 2023.
  12. The big mammal Nick Merkel in. First batter tries to bunt. Wilken nice play and throw. And you are out sir. Nice play Brock!
  13. GIDP for Warren. Oh well only get one run. Shuckers baseball. still 4-1 lead on to bottom 5
  14. A run in. Good hit by EBJ. He looked lost in his last at bat. Now time for more magic, or do Shuckers try to bottle a run here for another night??
  15. His approach tonight seems better than last week when I watched him last. Shuckers offense almost showing small pulse of life
  16. Cornielle is at 87 pitches. I wonder if they just sit him. High pitch count, and he is leading and got out of the inning with a K Or do they put him back for 5, hoping for a low pitch count inning- I don’t think is 90-100+ pitch-time in minor league outings.
  17. And Cornielle ties his professional high of 11 Ks. first 10 outs were via the K. Then a pop up to Adams and no error. Then another K am I crazy for almost wanting Adam’s to misplay the ball just so all the outs could have been K. 😜
  18. Finally watched some mudacts and watched the innings of holobetz. Seems to have velo as Chris mentioned 94 and said he had issue with velocity. Seemed to struggle with command. Nice to see some of these guys actually play. I’ll watch more later.
  19. Cornielle. Looking sharp. Only 4 hits, but the errors allowed the run. 3 IP. So that’s 9 outs. And of those he has 9 K. Wow. Not dominant since they have hit it. But all outs via K. Fastball up to 94.
  20. That's great to hear. It looked lively but I only heard it stated during the broadcast twice as 94. He seemed to command it well (located it in upper zone reliably), but the other offerings looked like they need more refinement but again this is from someone who can't recognize pitches well and really has no understanding the movement/shape data, but I am so glad a lot of you do.
  21. It does look and plays well up. Not sure his velocity but the announcer stated 94 mph twice. So not sure if that’s max, so not quite 96+ that Wichrowski has thrown. Hardin’s offspeed stuff looks like it needs time to be effective. But the high heat was his bread and butter.
  22. He is the star of that operation for sure. I'm hoping a bunch of our players become stars this summer, but Javik right now is the reason to watch Shuckers at the moment.
  23. That camera is funny - is anyone else just so used to now tilting your head to the left when you watch Biloxi games lol And yeah that audio is trip. I hear the "hears the pitch and the ball is..." while the pitch is being delivered. So you wait to see what is happening while the description happens - it's the virtual reality of having gameday on while watching the games (gameday is usually 1-2 pitches ahead of the live game feeds).
  24. Watched Hardin. He works quick. He is primarily fastball, and works up in the zone. A few calls by the announcer for 94 mph, and another that was 89 - maybe it was a cutter or change? His slider was erratic and I think 2 of the hits were off sliders. Only a few hard hit balls, as one of the basehits was a dribbler between 1B and pitcher and 2B and Burke made a nice fielding play and flip from his glove but the runner beat it out. The biggest hit was his last out only a few feet away from a home run. But Hardin looked sharp and impressive again. Definitely a high zone fastball that the batters could not get to is his main pitch.
  25. Watched most of the Mudcats game - really focused on the pitching side. Travis Smith seems to have some good stuff, but his command was not sharp again. He can be dialed like he was for his first two batters, but then it eludes him. But he must have enough to make do and get the outs, as he not walked any so far. The announce did report two fastballs at 93, and the effort seems easy so I imagine he can sit there, or may have more velocity with more effort, but he needs to reign in the command I think. I was impressed again with Sam Garcia. His delivery is deceptive and everything looks faster. What I liked is when he has bouts of control, he finds it within a few pitches. He gave up really the one hard hit ball for a HR. One of the "doubles" was a misplay in RF (between Alastre and Adamczewski), and the other double was opposite way grounder/liner down 3rd base line. Dinges looks very athletic behind the plate, but to my untrained eye needs work on the glove. He is good and did stop/catch a lot of pitches that missed, but the run scoring wild pitch could have been blocked better and he did lose track of a couple of balls that he stopped. But I still see a catcher there. And his bat seems quick in the few at bats I've watched of his so far. Made seems very confident at the plate, and hopefully his swings will lead to more hits. He has good range and solid glove but his throws are not consistent, as he made 3 that were not great. While Pena has the hands at the plate so that is good, but he can chase a little more. Also defensively at 3rd has a good glove, but his throws are also off, as he made a great stab when infield was in to prevent a XBH, but the throw was bounced and to the right of Dinges so he had no chance to get the runner home. Bang bang play but a solid throw and he is out. Seppings was solid. All his pitches move, and I don't know if he throws only breaking ball, or his fastballs move too. Again I stink at pitch recognition, but he definitely has movement on his pitches but not wild. Overall solid game for the Muddies. You can see the talent and the youth. But they are not wild, but have things to work on which is what you would expect from 17-20 year olds mostly in their first year of full season professional baseball. Adamczewski and Payne definitely stand out defensively and at the plate as mature and I can envision them moving up by end of season if I were to predict based upon about a week of baseball (then I need to remind myself that there were many players who looked amazing the first few weeks last year too).
