  1. I wouldn't count Houser out just yet. That guy showed some great, albeit inconsistent stuff in his very limited opportunities at the MLB level last year. Hate to give up on a guy with upper 90s heat, especially after sticking with him through his rehab. Part of me wants to continue to see the Carlos Gomez deal as the gift that keeps on giving as well. The Brewers have 17 pitchers on the 40 man roster that deserve a spot on a MLB team. This is without a signing/trade like Miley, Gio, MadB etc. WE have about two to three pitchers that will need to be moved, Houser could be one because of the lack of options. My guess would be one of Anderson or Davies are trade for MiLbers or a 2Ber. If I was the team looking for reliable SP with MLB experience both Anderson and Davies are attractive and probably don't cost much. Either with Houser would get back quality MiLB depth.
  2. Maybe sitting on the bench during the playoffs he heard the excitement and came to an understanding what it would be like to play in MKE.
  3. No kidding. Last year at this time many posters were ready to use Ray as a throw-in trade sweetener, and now he's an untouchable prospect? Look, I like Corey Ray, and I have no doubt that he's going to be a Major League OF ... maybe even a pretty good one. But he is also 24 years old and is looking at seeing AAA pitching for the first time in his career in 2019. He is also blocked by two former MVPs and another player who garnered MVP votes last year, along with Ben Gamel and what will likely be another OF depth signing like Granderson. He is also likely behind Tyrone Taylor and Troy Stokes Jr. on the depth chart due to their 40-man statuses. Now, using Ray in a package for Kluber makes a lot of sense. But the Indians have shown absolutely no indication that they don't want to go into the season with once again a train wreck of an OF, and little depth there on the horizon. The Marlins have shown no indication that they are anywhere close to asking for a palatable return for Realmuto, and I'm not interested in trading Hiura, Ray and Burnes for him. If the Brewers can pick up Bumgarner and what will likely be a qualifying offer draft choice for Corey Ray and change, I think that's a deal you make pretty easily. As long as we get the qualifying offer, I would do the trade.
  4. Jeter wants major league talent ???? I would say Anderson, Thames, and Davies are major league talent that we can lose.
  5. How many seasons can you ruin when you are 26-6 as a starter? I get it, he is athletically limited, can’t throw a screen pass and is poor at passes to the boundary. But by all accounts, he is a tireless worker and prior to last season he was ridiculously effective on obvious passing downs and in the red zone. Admittedly, some of his regression is teams have figured out how to better defend against him, but Wisconsin is more than a QB away from getting to the next level. When Wisconsin lines up against Ohio State next season, players who had offers to both schools; 30+ of them will be in scarlet and grey including multiple Badger legacies and 2 of them will be on Wisconsin. The athleticism and depth is a tough gap to close. I’m not saying that Hornibrook should start, but Im also not ready to say Chryst should put Mertz out there if he can’t get the team in the right audibles, recognize the blitzes, doesn’t know the route trees, and could permanently ruin his confidence or his physical state. and he is gritty
  6. If only that is what people cared about. Reality is I think people enjoy a not true champion, people love upsets. Not saying they would happen or often...but people would like it. Regarding next years QB situation. I could see Mertz winning the job outright if he really dominates in practice etc...I would guess Coan gets the nod in the early going though. Not like their season is going anywhere special. If Alabama and Clemson (and Georgia) can start freshman quarterbacks, so can Wisconsin.
  7. Malls are mostly shopping areas with some restaurants and maybe an entertainment venue or two. This would be mostly entertainment with restaurants and maybe a few shops. Add in housing and a hotel and improve access and it could be succcessful. Malls are a thing of the past. Plus, there arent many malls or entertainment areas that are close to MP. Forget about MLB. There are plenty of examples in Milwaukee. 84 South in Greenfield. The Mayfair Collection in Tosa. I don’t know what it’s called but there’s one in Oak Creek. All basically built on empty land and turned into areas with retail, restaurants and housing. This would be essentially the same thing just with more entertainment and less retail. I realize this isn’t going to happen but i do think it’d be a good investment and it would be good for the city. Eventually you connect the street car to Miller Park and it would run right through the new village. The closest example of what I am thinking is the Opreyland Hotel in Nashville, awesome place. It is a self contained hotel with restaurants/bars and shops. Add in some apartments/condos on floors 2-6 over the restaurants/bars and shops and you have a self contained population (maybe 200 condos) for these restaurants/bars and shops. If the hotel had an indoor poll with waterslides (Bernie Brewer like) and maybe a Brewers Hall of Fame it becomes a destination spot on weekend during the off season/winter. I think it would be cool.
  8. Considering malls everywhere are dying - including Grand Avenue years ago and fairly recently-renovated Bayshore actively losing multiple stores - a mall in Miller Park, in a non-residential area, would almost certainly follow that path. And as someone who attends Brewers road series yearly, when looking for hotels proximity to the stadium isn’t #1 on the priority list. Being near entertainment, restaurants, etc is most important. Uber can get you to the game easy no matter where you stay. I wouldn’t stay in a hotel at the stadium if there’s nothing else to do around there. And for all but 81 days a year, there would be little reason to stay at that hotel. If they wanted an entertainment center, they should’ve built it downtown. They instead opted for parking lots/tailgating. And there’s nothing wrong with that, Miller Park is great for what it is - an area to go tailgate and watch a game. You have never been to the new Braves complex then. The "mall" is not your ordinary mall. It is full of night life much the same as Bourbon Street in New Orleans, just not as big. It also has many shops and has its own population with apartments and condos. You can tailgate there too! If it was done right in Milwaukee, it would be cool.
  9. The new park in Atlanta is an example of how to make the ballpark a community. A hotel or two with an indoor mall with restaurants and shops would be cool.
  10. Helps that like 15% of the population is Asian and it is one of the most diverse cities there is. Milwaukee is like 3% Asian and is the most segregated place in the US. Can’t be much of a selling point. Asian population I can see. Segregation not so much.
  11. Christian Wood recalled. Come on Bud, put him in the game. I would love to see a rotation of Sterling and Donte at guards with Thon, the Freak and Wood/DJ. Maybe even a whole quarter. Let us see what these young kids can do and it will help make our off season decisions a little easier.
  12. Sonny Gray ($9 million) and Michael King (NYY #22 Prospect) for Eric Thames ($5 million) The Yankees just might cut Gray and then you get him for nothing. Stick by your guns!
  13. How about a one stop shopping experience in Miami? 2B/SS Starling Castro C JT Realmuto SP Jose Urena I look at Castro as negative value as he is owed almost $13 million, but he would fill a hole for one year. Realmuto is Realmuto Urena is a controllable starter that has had good to average success at the MLB level. What do you have to give Miami to make it work? SP Freddie Peralta SP Zach Brown OF Tristan Lutz or Corey Ray C Jacob Nottingham SP Trey Supak Too much...too little?
  14. Thon, DJ, Sterling Brown and Donte make me feel good about the future.
  15. Believe in Bud. Having a quality NBA coach just makes all of our pieces look better. Snell is even looking good. Right now I have confidence in the back half of our roster if Bud wants to put them in all together. If Bud wants to start Snell, I am ok with that. I like when he pulls players for poor defensive effort. High effort 48 minute quality defense will win championships. In Bud I trust.
  16. Starting Snell instead of Malcolm may increase Snell's value a little bit. His 3 years remaining at about $30 million would be great to shed. I just don't know why anyone would take it unless he is playing better.
  17. Jed Lowrie on a Chacin type deal would be great. 2 years $15 million. $9 the first year and $6 the second. Sound pretty good if I were a 35 year old infielder.
  18. I replied to Adam before reading your post.
  19. 2019 Erik Kratz AAA catcher and MLB backup plan. 2020 Erik Kratz MiLB pitching coach/catcher.
  20. If I could have Realmuto for 4-5 years at a below performance price (Yelich, Burnes, KH, any other almost can't miss prospect) I would do this trade. I will get only two years back on my end, so I am only willing to trade you players that are equivalent to two years of worth. My advise is enjoy the holidays and wait for the after Christmas discounts. When the 50-75% off discounts ads come out we can talk.
  21. About a month ago people were all over DJ Wilson. Last night was the first I saw him in any amount of action and I thought he looked really good. His defense against a bigger stronger all star was good, he did not back down and challenge at every opportunity. He did not look too lost on offensive end and hit his shots when he was open. I am quite optimistic in his development after seeing him play some. Maybe it is not a lost pick? Also Sterling Brown looked really good. He will have a long career in the NBA. He can play quality defense, rebound like a man, and play bigger than his size, even though he is pretty big anyways. He reminds me of a blast from the past... Sidney Moncrief, my favorite Buck of all times. Last but not least, Tony Snell did not look bad. Enough said. It is only one game, but it makes me fell good about the second team and the future of the Bucks. I really like Connaughton and the pick of Donte D. If Middleton costs waaayyy more than $20 mill per year, I won't feel that bad if they let him go.
  22. This is why I like Tyrone Taylor so much. The front office seems to value his talents a little more than this board does.
  23. Do it to spite the Cardinals
  24. Standing still and doing nothing is looking pretty good.
