  1. Short Answer, no. If this is his peak, he will not get you much back in a trade anyway. Burnes, Woodruff, Ray, Peralta, Brown are all sell high right now. They all have potential written all over them. I just wouldn't sell high on them since they are all pitchers (except Ray). Ray could be special, but I am not so sure.
  2. That is good news. Hopefully he gets is shot this coming year. It just looks like with Braun in the outfield that their is no place for Santana and he does not make a very good 4th outfielder. Taylor fits that bill better than him and to an extent Broxton (although I really love Broxton's defense). There's two main points I disagree with here. 1) why do we need to think of Braun as a primary starter? He will miss time due to injury and he hasn't been great the past two seasons. I know some of his statcast numbers were good so I don't think he's useless, but I also don't think he needs to be on the field 5-6 games a week. 2) why can't Santana be a 4th outfielder on this team? Typically you want someone who can play CF, but Yelich and Perez are both capable of making a spot start in CF or covering for a few days. 1. If he is healthy, that is where he starts. If Jesus is the real deal, Braun will only get a few games at first base. Braun won't be a pinch hitter or a defensive replacement, must get our moneys worth. 2. He can be, Taylor just has more versatility.
  3. Nice game against the Raptors. The defense is starting to look good. A high quality win against a true playoff team. If they choose to play as a team, they can beat anybody.
  4. Ramos, Ramos, he's our man ...If he can't hit, nobody can! Can he catch for three years with two ACL surgeries? Seems like an AL DH kind of team would be a better fit. He would be my second choice after YG. My options would be... 1. Grandel (4years + one team option, 5/$75) 2. Ramos (2 years + one team option, 3/$36) 3. Remalto (only at our price, No Burnes, KH and only one of Woodruff and Peralta) 4. Stay put with our internal options
  5. Trade Thames (plus a MiLB'er) for Sonny Gray, the sign Moose. Shaw can play 1B, 2B, 3B Moose can play 1B, 3B Jesus at 1B H Perez can play everywhere KH is waiting at AAA to take over 2B
  6. Gray for Thames and a small extra
  7. I'm sure he does, and if "those guys" are Thames, Anderson, and Davies there will absolutely be teams interested in them at the pricetags they carry heading into 2019. My point is even if Schoop isn't plan A for the Brewers at 2nd, they shouldn't non-tender him today - it's not like tendering arbitration to him today means they have to cut him a check for $10M tomorrow. Even if you truly feel like Schoop is the worst option of anything the Brewers could do at 2nd and the Brewers figure that out in Spring Training and aren't able to trade him due to his arbitration number, they could cut him and be on the hook for what, $2M tops? That would essentially be this year's version of the 2017 Boone Logan cash burn, and I think it's worth keeping options open as the offseason heats up. I would rather make the right decision now and save $2M later.
  8. I said this earlier, but it is worth repeating. Schoops needs to take less money to make this work. No other team is going to pay him $10M to play next year. $6 or $7 million would probably get it done.
  9. Maybe, maybe not. A good reason to put Christian Wood into the game and see what he can do. I don't know what you're disagreeing with. You don't think he tries hard? I think that's clear. After that I said the guy is terrible and not an NBA player, so yea I'd play Wood and see what happens I don't think it is so clear cut. He is still very young and can develop over the next 1-2 years. If he doesn't get better in that time, then I would make a call on his basketball talents. That is why I would put Wood in the game. He also plays hard and seems to get results.
  10. Mark and friends bought the Brewers in 2005 for $223M. If he sold it today there would be a "B" in the amount. He also has an investment banking firm which allowed him to buy the Brewers. He has a personal wealth of $700M. He is a great owner and will spend when needed, because it is more than just a business, it is his adult toy. That being said it is still a business and he still wants to make money.
  11. Maybe, maybe not. A good reason to put Christian Wood into the game and see what he can do.
  12. Christian Wood is good. Just put him in the game and let him run along with GA. They should run a shift of GA, Donte, Sterling Brown, Wood, and Wilson. Play pressure defense for about 2-3 minutes per half against the other teams second unit. Just pressure and run. and if it becomes half court on offense GA takes over and you still have pretty good outside shooters. I would love to see what our youth can do together.
  13. +1. This is the one business he runs for fun. Winning in investment banking is profitable. Winning in baseball is fun.
  14. When the Bucks exchanged point guards with the Pistons about 5 years ago (B Jennings trade) they received a throw in 2nd rounder. Who is that 2nd rounder... Kris Middleton. 2nd rounders sometime do not show there potential immediately. So maybe Wilson or S Brown or maybe even Christian Wood (my favorite young Buck) might interest the Cavs.
  15. Wilson/Brown and picks
  16. Trade Thames for a bag of balls and sing Moose. Jesus/Shaw at 1b. or Trade Thames and Jesus and sign Moose. Braun and Shaw at 1b. We could actually get something for Jesus. I'm not so sure why you're trading Aguilar to make room for Moose... Make room for Braun, which makes room in the outfield.
  17. I just found out that Smith's 2019-2020 season is not guaranteed. This is a deal I would make if Cleveland would go for it. Shedding Snell gives us chance to resign Middleton, which is almost a must.
  18. Davidson charges? The last one was questionable.
  19. Cardinal Rule of MLB GMs....Never trade young pithing. We are in such a good position for long term pitching success, lets's not mess it up. If we are trading young pitchers it needs to be someone like Davies who is entering arby soon.
  20. Trade Thames for a bag of balls and sing Moose. Jesus/Shaw at 1b. or Trade Thames and Jesus and sign Moose. Braun and Shaw at 1b. We could actually get something for Jesus.
  21. $12M isn't much of a factor in the conversation IMO. If we really want Bumgarner on a short term commitment that's actually quite cheap. We're considering $10M for Jonathan Schoop. They could basically clear the money for Bumgarner by non-tendering Schoop, going with Dubon for a short time at 2B and then promoting Hiura. Prospect loss, lack of long-term control and concerns about possible decline are far bigger factors at play here in my opinion. Just sign Miley. You also get two years with Wade for $12 mill.
  22. Schoop needs to take less money to make this work. If he is non-tendered, no one will sign him for $10 million a year. If they do, they are not very smart. He is in the position of "You have to show me you can still hit." with GMs.
  23. Left handed catchers, 3b, and middle infielders always make me interested, although Vogt had no arm before shoulder surgery.
