  1. He could be the last member of the bullpen. If healthy (big if), he mows down righties.
  2. I would love a third catcher that is a good left handed hitter. Moving Lucroy to RF or 1B over time to save on wear and tear and having viable pinch hitting options from the catcher position makes my heart go pitter patter.
  3. How about a compromise? Offer a three year deal at $34 million. Year one $11 million, year two $11 million, and year three 12 million. Hart gets a raise and we get a first baseman. If he says no, give him the QO of $13 million. He will probably test free agency an we get the pick, if not one year at $13 does not kill us. The three year offer makes Hart tip his hand one way or the other. If he is not willing to give a little in home town discount, he will try free agency. I think it is a win situation either way.
  4. Southpaw said.....Of the relievers, I would still like to see Howell. Another lefty for flexibility would be great. Not Howell, but having the second leftie (Gonzalaz) really helps the flexibility.
  5. $13 mill for any player?
  6. due80, Karstens looks like a value pickup as long as he is healthy. I would not have a problem with a 2 year/$6-7 mill contract. Of the relievers, I would still like to see Howell. Another lefty for flexibility would be great.
  7. Won't we get an extra pick for Hart after next year?
  8. Monty... I really don't think we need a whole lot of help in the pitching department in our minor league system. Over the years, we have made this a moderate strength. There are 5-7 pitchers from A+ up that might become major league starting pitcher. I think our main weakness in the minors is our upper level position players especially 3rd base, shortstop and catcher.
  9. By adding Zach, the time is now to make the deal. Who do you offer? Heckathorn? Brooks Hall? Kentrail Davis?
  10. Left handed relief pitchers (2) are a must. Howell plus a retread loogy that can throw strikes.
  11. I will have an order of A Sanchez for 4/62 and a side order of two lefties for the pen....JP Howell 3/9 and J Affeldt 3/23 Anybody think that is reasonable? .................................................................................................................................. I have changed my order................ J Shields (2/22) need to trade 1-2 low low level pitching prospect (Toledo, Wagner, Quintana) and a side order of lefty pen masters(?)...Howell (3/9) and J Affeldt 3/20
  12. I do not think that this is a good permanant option. Lucroy is an excellent receiver with an adequate arm who is an incredible offensive asset as a C, but is likely just hovering above replacement value as a 1b/RF (he's not a .320 hitter.). Meanwhile, Maldonado is a good receiver with an excellent arm, and will likely hit around replacement level. I wouldn't mind if Lucroy caught 3 or 4 days a week and played 1st/RF 1 or 2 days a week, but he is a good, young catcher who can hit that guys not named Randy Wolf enjoy throwing to. It just doesn't make sense to move him.[/i That is what I am thinking. Our lineup should be fluid as to give rest when needed and absorb injuries when they happen.
  13. Charlie Moore was an above average catcher.
  14. I will have an order of A Sanchez for 4/62 and a side order of two lefties for the pen....JP Howell 3/9 and J Affeldt 3/23 Anybody think that is reasonable?
  15. They need two quality lefties, one who could be the closer.
  16. As the Hart contract expires at the end of 2013, I would love to see Lucroy make the move away from catcher to another position (right field or first base, like Charlie Moore did). Maldanado moves into the main catcher position with a third catcher (power lefty, like Kottaras) as the backup. That backup needs to also be able to play another position like first base. I love having three catchers on the roster as it gives you that extra pinch hitter option every game and does not "waste" the reserve catcher position. We have our best defensive catcher playing the majority of games and have great flexibility. A bench of Biachi (ss, 2b, 3b), Green (3b, 2b 1b), Schafer (of), extra lefty catcher. and a cheaper version of Corey Hart (of, 1b, 3b) maybe it is Gamel maybe a right handed hitter. With a starting lineup of.. Weeks 2b Aoki rf Braun lf Ramerez 3b Lucroy 1b Gomez cf Segura ss Maldanado c I love the way that lineup looks like two 1-4. When the first inning end with Ramerez, having Lucroy and Gomez 1-2 is similar to Weeks and Aoki.
  17. 1 Yoga............. Solid #1.........................................................7 plus innings 2 Greinke...........4 years $84 plus 1 year vesting at $20.................7 innings 3 Fiers..............Marcum lite......................................................5-6 innings 4 Piggyback ......Estrada for 3-4 then Rogers completing the game...9 innings, no relievers needed 5 Peralta...........Let him eat innings............................................6 innings 6 Thornberg.......AAA 7 Burgos............AAA BP 11 innings per five games Axford..............He will comeback.......3 innings, 9th inning Loe..................Solid.......................3 innings, 7th and 8th FA LHP.............Pay for quality...........3 innings 7th and 8th FA LHP.............Comeback type..........LOOGY 1-2 batters once or twice a week Henderson.........????........................as needed Sanchez, J........Give him a shot..........as needed Wooten............Very solid softy..........long relief Pitcher cost should be around $45-50,000,000. $40,000,000 for Hart, Braun, Weeks and ARam. Everybody else is about $7,000,000. That adds to about$92-97,00,000. Maybe there is room for another big bat?????
  18. That's 14 starting pitchers 2 years or less away from MLB. If half pan out we are in good shape. With Fiers, Rogers and Willie P being almost for sure, this should be attainable.
  19. Back to Atlanta. Living here, all people talk about is when will Chipper get hurt again and the lack of a right handed power bat off the bench. Prado has to play both short and third quite a bit because Chipper is an old man at third and they really don't have an answer at short. Corey Hart fits their needs right now and so does A Ram. I thindk Dougie needs to be shopping in Atlanta!
  20. MLB Prospect Watch already has them 1, 6 and 12 in the Brewers Top 20.
  21. 1. Morgan.... Schafer 2. A-Ram........Green 3. Hart......already have Aoki, but also Gindl 4. Kotteras......already have MM We won't get much for 1 and 4 but we are not giving up that much. 2 and 3 could bring back much need players for 2014 and beyond.
  22. Adding a bat like Ramirez a DH could be tempting for an AL team. What AL contenders need an upgrade at DH?
  23. The Braves have always liked Corey and he fits a need right now for them. They just don't make stupid trades, so I am not sure if we would get back a whole lot. Maybe Joe Terdoslavich (gotta like the the name, good or bad) and a pitcher?
  24. Thanks for the info.
