  1. .336 average as of 8/10, not striking out much and taking a few walks. At 25, do we move him to AA yet this year? Or maybe start AA next year and see if he can jump to AAA at mid season?
  2. Thanls for the insight, DB! I hope he keeps it up. We have a number of great outfield prospects.
  3. Anybody see d'Vo play down in Florida? He currently is batting .329 with almost no power. He was one of my favorites before he left for a year. I really don't know what happened to him, i think I remember someone saying he lost his passion. Anybody have any information?
  4. EDIT Mike Gonzalez to the Braves for Mauricio Cabrera on 7/27 @ 6:23 PM EST I would also love this trade (not calling day or time since I am confident in my first prediction).... Gonzalez and Lohse for Maurico Cabrera, Cody Martin, and one of Weber, Ross, or Miller from Lynchburg.
  5. Always liked Wooten, very consistent without really good stuff. Come on Dougie, a few more trades and call up Sanchez and heck maybe even Heck.
  6. Mike Gonzalez to the Braves for Mauricio Cabrera on 7/27 @ 6:23 PM
  7. Might as well let the young pitchers pitch... Thornberg Fiers The Power Forward in AAA anybody remember Billy Parsons and Jim Slaton in the early years?
  8. How about an over/under for this kid... the under as good as Gamel the over not as good as Chipper (maybe .8)
  9. "I think you can use Gallardo and maybe Rodriguez to get one of Davidson/Skaggs and add volume with maybe two of Tahan, Owens, or Chafin. I would guess the Brewers would need to include a minor league player as well." Yoga and K Rod for Davidson and Scaggs along with Trahan and Chafin. If not, walk away. Yoga is still in control for 2 1/2 years. That is very valuable. LAA gave use 3 very good prospects for 1/2 year of a ZG. I know ZG does not equal Yoga, but they are not that far apart. What is the extra two years of Yoga worth?
  10. Thanks for all the information. $14 million will never happen, o we don't get a pick. Maybe we can sign him for less after no one else signs him.
  11. It looks like Hart will not play this year with both knees hurting. If we offer arbitration over the winter, what would be the number since he was hurt 1 1/2 years out of the last two years? I am guessing less than he is making this year, maybe 9 million?
  12. Year One: 2013 ---- Trade Gallardo, Hart, Ramirez, Axford, Aoki and Rodriguiz (new set up man) at the trade deadline. Hopefully that brings in at least some solid talent to the farm system. Must have an AAA 3B with power and quality (2-3) AA and AAA starting pitchers. Extend Segura if at all possible. Give playing time at the MLB level to players like Morris, Gindl, Bianchi to see what they have in the 2nd half. Draft pitching, catchers, 3B and SS. No outfielders, 2B or 1B. 3B and SS can always be moved to 2B. 3B and Catchers can be moved to 1B. Most any infielder can play outfield. This should improve defense overall in the minors. Year Two: 2014 ---- Refrain from signing any aging vets. Hopefully Weeks had another solid 2nd half to 2013 and trade him in the off-season. For anything. Don't get caught like the last two years. Build around the younger players like Segura, Lucroy, Gomez new AAA 3B (as well as of course Braun). Keep Kyle Lohse. Bring up Gennett to play 2B. Hopefully Green & Gamel contribute, too. Roster 1B Morris, Gamel 2B Gennett, Green SS Segura, Bianchi 3B AAA 3B, Green C Lucroy, Maldenado RF Gindl, Davis CF Gomez LF Braun SP Lohse, Peralta, Burgos, Fiers, Estrada, Naverson, any of the quality SP gotten in 2013 trades BP Henderson, Kintzler, Gorz, Gonzalas plus... Draft pitching, catchers, 3B and SS. No outfielders, 2B or 1B. If we are out of it in July, trade Lohse or anyone who has had a over productive year that will come back to the norm on 2015. Segura should be extended like Braun contract(s). Year Three: 2015 ---- Refrain from signing any aging vets. I am ok signing anyone to their first free agent contract, but only if it fills a needed hole (SP# 2 at $30-$40 mill for 3 years). A FA reliever can not get a contract for over $5 million per year. Roster 1B Morris, Gamel, Rogers 2B Gennett, Green SS Segura, Bianchi 3B AAA 3B, Green, Walker C Lucroy, Maldenado RF Gindl, Davis, Kr, Davis Ke CF Gomez LF Braun SP Peralta, Burgos, Fiers, Estrada, Hellweg, Nelson, Pena, Jungmann any of the quality SP gotten in 2013-14 trades BP Henderson, Kintzler, Thronberg, Sanchez, Wooten plus Draft pitching, catchers, 3B and SS. No outfielders, 2B or 1B. May want to think about trading or extending Gomez or Lucroy (quality SP at AA or AAA only), depending on how the wear/tear factor is treating them. May want to trade Braun for the mother load (this could restock the MiLB with multiple quality arms and bats). There are a number of outfielders ready to make an impact for the Brewers at the MLB level.. Year Four: 2016 ---- Refrain from signing any aging vets. First free agent contracts only and but only if it fills a needed hole. Roster 1B Morris, Gamel, Rogers 2B Gennett, Green, Rodriquez, A SS Segura, Bianchi, Riveria 3B AAA 3B, Green, Walker C Lucroy, Maldenado, Coulter RF Gindl, Davis, Kr, Davis Ke, Haniger, Roache CF Gomez, Reed, Taylor LF Braun SP Peralta, Burgos, Fiers, Hellweg, Nelson, Pena, Jungmann, Hall, Golforth, Bradley, Gagnon any of the quality SP gotten in 2013-15 trades BP Henderson, Kintzler, Thronberg, Sanchez, Wooten, Toledo, Magnifico, Lopez Draft pitching, catchers, 3B and SS. No outfielders, 2B or 1B. If we have done this for four straight years, the MiLB teams should be adequately stocked with premium position players.

  14. The old saying is trade 'em while they are hot. I would trade Yuni in a second for a decent AA SP (Pena, Nelson, Hall) prospect.
  15. I went to Chattanooga about four years ago to watch the first round pick fastball pitcher we traded to KC. I sat there for nine innings and came away totally impressed......with Lucroy...... and the way he handled the pitching staff. I could see then who the better pro would be. I would hope we try to develop pitchers not throwers. I will take my chances with Hiram and his type as they can develop into the mini-Maddox types. There is nothing wrong with having a bunch of number three pitchers on your staff or hanging around in AAA. We need our 3rd-7th round picks to turn into contributors and more than likely they will be the Lucroy, Green, Gamel, Burgos type of players. You need at least three players from every draft to have some sort of impact at the major league level, not just the first rounders.
  16. Reyes went down last night for the Jays and will be out for at least 1/2 of the year. Yuni was listed as a possible replacement. Seeing either of our backups go would be ok with me. I saw that Biaca got a couple of ABs at Huntsville last night. Get to work Dougie!
  17. When do minor league rosters come out for each minor league team? I have been using the JS Online Brewer page to click into each minor league team and then to the roster page. They seem somewhat inaccurate. Does anyone have any better ways to get more accurate data?
  18. Your 25 Man Roster looks about right. I would make one change (drop Crosby add Gindl, if we are going young, give the guy a chance) Rotation Gallardo Estrada Fiers Peralta Narveson Bullpen Axford Gonzalez Henderson Olmsted Badenhop Gorzelanny Rogers Lineup Aoki Weeks Braun Ramirez Lucroy Gomez Green Segura Bench Maldonado Bianchi Gonzalez Gindl Crosby Schafer
  19. He bats right handed. Bat him against leftie starters and in late inning pinch hit spots for Gamel. His glove makes him a great late inning replacement.
  20. JohnBriggs12 said: Why does everyone think Green is such a lock? He got chances off the bench last year and the reality is he didn't do much with them. I know he had a great year at AAA in 2011, but he's never really been a prime prospect and last year Bianchi put up better numbers at Nashville than Green did, with the added bonus that Bianchi can play SS. Bringing in Overbay was significant only that it signals their intention for Gamel's role ultimately to be in the OF, not 1B. Overbay may not make the team out of Arizona, but it's clear they want Gamel playing some OF even before Hart comes back. It could be Green or Bianchi playing 1B when Gamel's in RF, and Aoki slides over to CF but neither are accomplished at the position. A. You're writing like Overbay already has signed. He hasn't yet, and there's no guarantee that he'll choose to sign in Milwaukee. B. Taylor Green never a prime prospect? He's only been their Minor League Player of the Year twice with much of the gap between the two years due to the wrist injury & recovery from it. Henderson & Fiers were never considered great prospects but they've done well so far. Heck, Hart was never touted as much of a prospect. But how a guy is "billed" isn't necessarily the same as how they're viewed by the organization, and I'd put much more stock in the latter. Absolutely right on both counts.
  21. Cots has use at 69.5 million with 11 $500,000ish players to sign. That is right at $75 million with a pretty good team on paper. A $3 million backup shortstop might be a good investment, but other than that, I think our real transactions will happen in July (either for the good or for the bad). There is your team (he did not cost the $3M though). Play Ball!
  22. No Overbay, please. We don't need a lefty 1b off the bench. Green and Gamel can do that and should at least be give the chance. Love the Gonzo signing. Quality in the field with a little pop. I see him playing SS 1-2 times per week. Maybe every 5ht or 6th game. When a tough lefty starting pitcher is throwing against us, he or A-ram can play 1B and give Gamel a rest. He also can be the right handed semi- power off the bench everyone has wanted. He needs to play to be effective, but he is also recently injured and 36 years old. I think it is a perfect scenario.
  23. Cots has use at 69.5 million with 11 $500,000ish players to sign. That is right at $75 million with a pretty good team on paper. 24. This is good for the Brewers and bad for Corey Hart. Brewers become more flexible with Gamel, Green and Morris getting a shot. One will emerge and do well, maybe two. Corey Hart will never get a long term contract. He will be, at best, a two year at a time player.
