  1. Here's a question for board members. Assuming that the suspension is held up, would you still be a Braun fan when he comes back? This question only applies to people who liked Braun to begin with. If you weren't a fan before, you probably won't be a fan now. I know some people are vehemently opposed to steroids and PED's and I was just wondering, since Braun is one of our own, would you still cheer for him? I will still be a fan and cheer as much as I always have. I've never really cared if any player, let alone our own, were using PED's, and I never let that influence my fandom. I usually look at the person as a whole, and Braun seems like a good guy, and is obviously a remarkable talent. I don't think using a steroid makes you a bad person, and I don't think they hurt anyone any more than tobacco, beer, or fatty foods. I've never read the Mitchel report, and I've never been part of the witch hunt. I don't believe they should be kept out of the HOF either. I do believe that PED users should be suspended, and serve their suspension, because that's the consequences for violating the rules. But, once they serve their fifty games, I don't look at them any differently. But, that's my view and I know many people, if not most people, are going to think completely different about the situation. But, that's what this board is for. Discussion is great and disagreement is even better. I was just curious what others thought, and whether or not you will remain a Braun fan after this is all over. Once again, if you weren't a Braun fan to begin with, not sure if the question really applies to you. But, you could insert your favorite player in for Braun and ask yourself how you would feel if they were in this situation.
  2. It was a hypothetical, hindsight question. I didn't say we should have, I was asking what his value would have been in the other posters opinions. All I was asking, is what do you think we could have gotten, compared to what we did get. Stop putting words into peoples mouths.
  3. I didn't read the whole thread, so maybe this was discussed. But, if we got a decent middle reliever for Casey after last year, what could we have got if we would have sold high before last year? Good luck to Casey though. He seemed like a good guy, and was very easy to cheer for.
  4. You thought a team that won 96 games last year and lost one key player was no longer a contender? Yeah, you're definitely in the minority on this board. I always try to be optimistic, and I hope Braun is found innocent, but most likely we lost our best player for a third of the season, and our second best player to free agency. Plus, they aren't just key players, they are exceptional game changing players. Unless our pitching staff is lights out, I think .500 is about right. You just can't lose two elite players, that carried our lineup many times, and expect much else in my opinion. Hopefully I'm wrong.
  5. "jump to conclusions mat" is from the movie "Office Space." Need to watch it man. Great flick.
  6. Well, this helps the lineup I guess, but I really wish we would have extended our pitching staff with that money. Let's face it, most likely (99%) Braun is going to miss a third of the season and Ramirez is not going to replace Braun and Fielder production wise. I still look at this season as kind of a lost cause, so I would rather have that money to pay our pitchers.
  7. It's a big glimmer of hope though Jet15. Since that is part of the process I believe. I thought that when a positive test was revealed, they automatically do a second one to make sure. If the second one wasn't positive, hopefully that's a good sign.
  8. I agree with you guys that there is absolutely no reason not to give Ben an invite on a minor league deal. And anybody who says they shouldn't, should at least be able to form an argument that makes sense on why they shouldn't. The only argument would be that he has nothing left, but there is absolutely no risk involved to find out if he has anything left. You may not personally like Sheets, but, he stuck around here when we stunk and he knew that he was the only good pitcher and some years, the only good player on this team. I personally respect that.
  9. I saw the 1989 Bosio year on there. Forgot about that one till this list came out. That was Cal Eldred's rookie year right? I know him and Bosio were awesome that year, but any idea what Eldred's WAR was? Edit: never mind, it was 1991 was his rookie year. Great rookie year, good second year, then arm troubles. My bad.
  10. war! Hhuh, good God Ya'll! what is it good for? absolutely nothin'!Fixed it for you.
  11. Yahoo is reporting this. I guess he separated his shoulder while heading to the the Brewers facility in the Dominican. Further tests will be done.
  12. If Clint Barmes gets 6-7 million per year, then this is one of the worst signings they could make. How could his production make that viable? edit: sorry, didn't read the whole thread. But i'm glad we didn't pay that.
  13. If it was more like the NFL, wouldn't the Cards get like a sixteenth round pick or something like that. Don't you get a an equivalent pick to where the guy is drafted? I'm not really up on how NFL comp picks work.
  14. This time of year is a blessing and a curse. Way to many awesome looking games coming out. Happens every year. BTW, is this new Batman, better the same or worse than the first one? I've heard mixed things.
  15. I'm honestly still trying to finish oblivion. Granted, i just got it this year, but there is so much to do, and i want to experience as much as I can. The problem is, I don't want it to get boring and repetitive, which all huge games seem to do, so i won't play it all the time without mixing in games like Madden, or Red Dead Redemption. It's going to take me awhile, so I can't even think about Skyrim yet. But, I will eventually.
  16. Yahoo, is reporting this along with Pujols visiting Miami to talk with the fish. Buerle was there a few days ago. If the Marlins get these three, they are contenders with a healthy Josh Johnson and Hanley moving to 3rd. But, would it make Gaby Sanchez available? And if so, what would it take? This question was asked a while ago too, and someone (can't remember who) said "start with Ryan Braun", which is a HUGE underevalutation of Braun. There isn't too many people in the majors worth Braun straight up, and Sanchez isn't one of them. So, seriously, what would it take? Edited thread title --cc

  19. I'm not big on Pena, especially at the price. But, i do like Kotchman. His defense is very good, and he can hit. He's not Fielder and won't give us power but he reminds me of Overbay (when he was here not now), where he can spray the ball around the field, but better defense.
  20. Actually it was for the best stache, not just in sports. It was the Robert Goulet Memorial Mustached American of the Year Award from the American Mustache Institute. http://www.americanmustac...ed-american-of-the-year/ Cool, didn't know that. The sports radio guys up here are above average when it comes to the Packers, but the Brewers are an afterthought for them.
  21. Another award that was announced on the radio up here in Green Bay, Axford won an award from some mustache club for best stache in sports, congrats Ax. And, no, I'm not kidding.
  22. I'd be okay with that. Prince to the AL and Reyes to us? I can dig it. Now, if only Pujols would be so distraught by the loss of his biggest fan, that he hangs it up, it would be a great offseason.
  23. actually, the winner of the MNF game is in first place if I remember right. The Chiefs are turning it on.
  24. The title of the thread should be changed to "pathetic excuse of reporting". I thought it was terrible, and if this is what the free agent market is going to be this year, we can't afford to have a team anymore. And my earlier post about Reyes, was me pointing out how dumb these predictions are. Not really suggesting anything else. You don't sign an extremely high priced player, at a position where you have a very high priced player currently. Especially when your whole payroll is basically those two guys. Besides, if we did get another good shortstop, we'd end up trading him for a 5th outfielder, a coke machine, and some board games to keep the bullpen entertained.
  25. So Reyes is going to Florida. Does that make Hanley available? Or does one of them move to third or second?
