  1. I couldn't find any good scouting reports on texas' pitchers. Does anyone have links to scouting reports of the rumored pitchers
  2. This is easily my biggest fear. Take the best talent you can get. If that talent is in the majors, great. If that talent is in A+, do it. I don't want to limit the talent that we get because they weren't major leaguers or weren't major league ready. I almost cried at your last sentence HtR. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/frown.gif I have been thinking about this for a while. In hindsight, do u think the Indians wish they would have Cain over Brantley. DM should be concerned about getting the best baseball players available, not the 2010 attendance or 2011 roster
  3. i doubt they can get Teheran, but it would be reasonable to get both delgado and Beachy. In 2012, Gallardo Pineda and Hudson with 2 of Delgado/ Beachy/ Odorizzi/ Heckathorn. Sounds pretty good to me.
  4. i wasnt watching the game. what happened to hart's wrist? also i love those unis
  5. Good point combining a LOOGY with hart to get Buamgarner, but I can also tell u haven't been paying attention to Stetter's stats either. I don't remember what they are exactly (all i know is that they are atrocious). I wonder if Cappy or Naverson would satisfy them
  6. cain got dropped to AAA. what a shame, he was one of the biggest reason why to watch the games anymore.
  7. Here is an interesting perspective from the chicago sun times "Here's the reality: If the Sox get one more big bat and continue to challenge Minnesota and Detroit and make it to the playoffs, the Sox will draw. With the Cubs in the tank, the Sox will control not only the crowds, but also the buzz, both of which are very important to the organization. With their deep pitching, the Sox have a chance to make some noise in the playoffs since they get there, even making some fantasize about 2005. And, if the Sox can repeat what happened in that year, the organization will become appreciably more profitable. Casting aside a future all-star and some high profile prospects and bringing aboard a rent a player is a small price for them to pay to return to the promised land. So, if the Nats or Brewers are really serious, so is Kenny Williams "
  8. brewers will hold on to bush similarly to how arizona kept Davis. The return wont be good enough for the consequences, making fans annoyed.
  9. Giants just signed Willis to a minor league deal. Just some speculation, Giants plan on trading Sanchez or Bumgarner and willis will take the 5th spot in the rotation.
  10. I might be bias because i have always liked Gamel, but I dont think it would be a good idea to sell low on him. The return wont match his potential.
  11. If that would happen (lets hope it doesnt), hopefully prince's contract becomes a bust just like Soriano, Zambrano and Ramirez's. Nothing would be more enjoyable then seeing the cubbies get buried even deeper with overpaid under producing contracts! 10yr 200mil!
  12. There is no chance that the Rays will trade Hellickson or Jennings. IMO if we can get 3 of the Rays top ten pitching prospects I would be more than pleased. Names like Moore, Colome, Barnese, Torres, and Mcgee show how much better they are at drafting pitchers then the brewers. 4/5 of the 2012 rotation could come from the combination of Davis/Graza and 2 of the other prospects with some of our own Odorizzi, Heckathorn, Scarpetta, Lasker, Peralta, and Rivas.
  13. Maybe, but the only strong position in Free Agency this next offseason will be 1B, wish could actually hurt the market for Fielder. Dodgers, Giants, Rockies, Braves, Rangers, Angels, Red Sox, Yankees, Rays, and White Sox are the main teams I can think of that would likely be interested. Don't think there's that many good 1B/DH candidates available in free agency. Dunn, Berkman, Konerko, Lee, Pena, and Ortiz (option). If any of the teams are looking for an impact bat the only safe bet maybe Dunn and Konerko. I doubt that the Yankees and Angels will be after any of these including prince
  14. correct me if i am wrong but wasnt melvin the GM when they made the playoffs
  15. With the Rays 2 games back of the yankees and the redsox (3gb) and white sox (4.5gb) closely trailing in the wildcard, the rays could really use an upagrade on offense. Pena only has a .205 batting average. Excluding zobrist and crawford none of their outfielders have an average over .230. here is a proposed trade that i think would be fair for both teams: Fielder- Hart- Coffee for Garza, Davis, and two of the following as a brewer fan do u think that would be a good deal? Is that too much for the ray to give up? would we need to send cash or take Pena? Pitcher rank player Level ERA K:BB K/9 8 Alex Cobb AA 2.44 2.84 8.24 7 Alex Torres AA 2.92 2.02 9.83 10 Jake McGee AA 3.48 2.82 10.56 12 David Newmann AA 3.96 1.88 10.5 6 Nick Barnese H-A 3.02 4.00 7.8 Na Shane dyer H-A 2.37 4.15 7.3 4 Alex Colome L-A 3.72 2.71 8.72 as a brewer fan do u think that would be a good deal? Is that too much for the ray to give up? would we need to send cash or take Pena?
  16. Agreed. This wouldnt be the ideal return for fielder but it would be good enough assuming we cant get a future "ace" . also graza and braun share the same agent, Nez Balelo. my only concern is that both garza and davis have a shrinking b:kk rate.
  17. I dont think that i s smart approach. Harts future is very questionable and fielder wants way to much money (not worth more than 20mil if he produces). I would prefer to sign weeks around 6mil/ yearr. I do think the brewers NEED to keep at least on of them or they will fave an offensive shortage.
  18. no thanks, in my opinion it would be better to put cain or schafer in center and transition lawrie to RF if we are able to sign weeks. Plus melvin has already commented that weeks running style wouldnt translate to the outfield
  19. I thought the same thing tonight when i was watching Jenks . BS and BA are making these games intolerable. Also on Davey: I have listened to him a couple of times and thought he does a lot better job on the radio than he does on tv.
  20. I woudnt want to imagine the brewers with out Weeks. Assuming Fielder and Hart will be gone in the next 1.5 yrs, this team really needs to keep Weeks to fill the leadership role. Lawrie can always move to 1B or RF
  21. same thing for josh butler, 3 out of his last 4 appearances much better. Hopefully if both Butler and Scarpetta finish this season strong they could go to AFL
  22. i have always liked farris and think he could be a good lefty lead off guy, but isnt he still in AA? just for the record... i hope they can get some good deals on hart and fielder and then sign weeks long term
  23. Olney used three tweets to suggest a three way trade (wade davis- lee- lawrie) would make sense for all the teams. Im in no hurry to move Lawrie because he is best hitting prospect since Braun, but i dont know if the brewers can get another pitcher of davis's caliber for 5 years. Couple that trade with hart for bumgarner and the brewers would be set with an above average rotation for the next 5 years (also very affordable) : gallardo, wade davis, bumgarner , wolf, and parra, also Rivas as 6sp.
  24. On firing Melvin: I Know this is a little of topic from bashing each other about mark Attanasio's role in signing Suppan, but i dont see Melvin being fired simply because Attanasio does not have enough experience to hire a new GM. He has only owned the team for 5-6 years and I doubt he has enough knowledge on finding the next great GM and a scouting staff. Almost everything Attanasio knows about the business comes form Melvin.
