  1. Getting 2 of Garland, Bedard, or Davis would almost guarantee the brewers a playoff spot but there is NOOO way the brewers can add that payroll.
  2. I wonder if Bedard is just pure speculation, my assumption is that their Bedard claim didnt come from any scources. With that being said, I would love the Brewers rotation if they get Bedard and didnt have to start both Parra and Supppan.
  3. according to wikipedia (questionable validity), Lewis had 5 hr in about 100 AB. The 6'4" righty would make an interesting addition if the brewers dont want to sign any of the 5 ERA batting practice pitcher (i.e. looper or davis) or one of the injuries waiting to happen. Plus this move would give them the much talked about "financial flexibility" that melvin desires. Not to mention a strong hitting rotation (8th spot) wolf (.180 5hr in 11 seasons), Gallardo (.196 4hr), Parra (.187), bush (.129)
  4. I would have to agree about Bedard, the only problem is having 3 lefty starting pitchers in the NL central. Here is how i would rank the probably SP for the brewers while considering cost, quality, and health concerns: Bedard Wang sheets Garland Davis Washburn Pinero
  5. Pinero and Sheets would cost too much to fit into the brewers payroll and I wouldn't want any of the garland/davis/washburn trio , unless they are less than 5 mil/yr. Wang, a righty with potential, would be an interesting addition to the brewers at the right price. The problem is that he wont start throwing off the mound until mid to late February and probably wont be ready to start until may. In my opinion, this could actually be beneficial for the brewers because they can have parra and suppan battle for the 5th pitching spot.
  6. than what would you suggest the brewers do to stay competitive if they dont sign prince
  7. last year the wild card team had 92 wins. unless the brewers add davis, garland, bedard, or sheets it will be wishful thinking they they could get 90+ wins.
  8. YUCK!, Morrow seems to be a guy that will never mature into a productive player. Maybe im bias but IMO Gamel is going to be very good (1+ all star appearances), the only way I would be ok with losing him is for a young proven with 2+ years left on his contract i.e. Josh Johnson type.
  9. either escobar or gomez will be batting last (8th or 9th), the other will be near the top of the order. It would make sence to give escobar the hardy treatment, that is let him bat in front of Braun so he gets good pitches to hit. Considering he is our top prospect Macha needs to put him in every position to succeed
  10. What is classified as a significant FA acquisition? one year. Less than 5 mil? How much payroll do the brewers have to spend? I think they are around $82 mil
  11. I will have to put that request on the christmas list. If both of them could prove to be decent 1 & 2 hole hitters that would be the making of a dynamic lineup
  12. Im sure 100% of the brewer fans on here agree that an above average starter will have more value than the best LOOGY in MLB. The problem with Braddock is his health, I would rather him make it to the big leagues and pitch for years than worry about his overall value. If he can prove that he can stay healthy, than he can move into the rotation.
  13. He has to be worth more than Harden and Penny if he signed a one year deal. 12 mil/yr is a little steep for a guy that didnt pitch in 09. I wouldnt be suprised if he gets about 10 mil and an option year
  14. are u saying its close to 82mil not counting Riske and halls salary. I figured the projection with bush, riske, and hall but not Counsel. With that being said, how high will the brewers put their payroll? 85 or 90 mil
  15. After signing Vargas, Hawkins, and Wolf what is the brewers payroll at? I don't know how much vargas cost but with 10 mil and 3.5mil to wolf and Hawkins plus the estimated arb, I am guessing their payroll is around 82 Mil. does any have a more accurate amount?
  16. I wasnt goin to waste my time to re-read this article because i thought it was stupid the first time i read it. I have a feeling mark and doug didnt agree with this authors plans
  17. wow what a great day. I thought i was goin to use this snow day to edit my 12 page paper due on friday but instead i got to see the brewers make some aggressive moves
  18. Braddock will be the second lefty (midseasonish), assuming he can stay healty. With that being said I would love the addition of Shouse which has always been one of my favorite brewers. Hoffman Hawkins Coffee stetter LOOGY Vargas Suppan Also vargas
  19. I just have a feeling that Hart is going to have a bounce back year. As Doug has stated, last season they made him be more selective at the plate which took away his power. in my opinion he will have more trade value next season then he does right now, even considering one less year of his eligibility.
  20. Ignoring Gonzalez's price tag, the possibility of having the 7-8-9 being: Coffee, Gonzalez, and Hoffman is outstanding.
  21. If Doug gets Wolf sign soon, I think it might be a good idea to let the market cool down and sign the best pitcher left at a discounted discount rate.
  22. I was disappointed to see Cody not protected and surprised that Doug Jones was on the list. My guess is that both of them will be goners
  23. It is a mistake to compare Wolf to Suppan/Looper. I agree that the third year (non option) is kind of scary. But with that being said, getting a SP for less than 10 mil/yr of his quality is a really good deal.
  24. If DM can get Wolf 10 mil-ish, that would give us enough money to sign bedard/sheets to a one year deal. Or he may choose to get a low risk low reward pitcher davis/ garland. With our offense/defense combined with an improved rotation leads my biased opinion to think the brewers will win the central (cardinals minus holliday) Gallardo, wolf, _______, Bush, Parra. SP6/ long relief: Suppan (also Cappy & Mulder)
  25. I'm assuming braddock's future will be in the bullpen until he reaches the majors. Come 2013, if he proves that he can stay healthy maybe they will stretch him out to become a starter.
