  1. wasn't that first strike to Walker the exact same location as Ball Four to the last batter?
  2. Dear Carlos Gomez I miss you very much. Please keep recovering quickly Signed A Concerned Brewers fan
  3. Maybe they can talk Jeff Cirillo into a comeback. At the age of 41 he has plenty of veteran grit. He could probably hit better than McGehee right now, and at the very least he'd be a better fielder and a faster base-runner than Casey
  4. He's had 25-26 at bats for the Brewers so far (incredibly small sample). He still has a .328 OBP on the season which is better than McGehee, Counsell, Betancourt, Kotsay, Lopez, & Wilson
  5. I thought it was that Mat Gamel struggled in the tiny amount of at-bats we gave him so therefore Taylor Green will struggle too.
  6. OK, cancel the DFA on Doug Melvin. Just DFA McGehee
  7. So is Lucroy. And Hairston, Gamel, and Taylor Green, and a 55 year old Robin Yount & Paul Molitor and even Zack Greinke
  8. Taylor Green currently has a 1.005 OPS with a .333 BA DFA Doug Melvin
  9. Because if this game goes into the 14th inning we might need Greinke to pinch hit!
  10. Braun just cannot take walks... I wonder if he's ever gonna grow out of this thing, or if he's always gonna be a .920 OPS guy instead of a 1.000 OPS guy?
  11. OK, OK, I'll admit that Rock is a better announcer that Mitch Williams, but I'm still happy to have a days vacation from the repetition that is Bill Schroeder And Mitch Williams is twice the announcer that Craig Coshun is, anyways...
  12. "250 pounds of ouch" and "are they delivering cauliflower in 18 wheelers to your house, Prince?"... c'mon guys admit it, this is better than Bill Schoeder saying the same thing over & over for 15 seasons
  13. Its funny to read all of you guys complaining about the announcers. Personally I'm very happy to be able to watch a Brewers game without listening to Bill Schroeder!
  14. Seems like the difference between Braun being a 1.000 OPS guy and not is all about walks. Grounded out on ball four there
  15. Nope. And I feel the same way about Betancourt, Kotsay, and Counsell too.
  16. Roenicke's inability to see Felipe Lopez as a minor leaguer at best is frightening
  17. truly, Lopez should be starting in Nashville. Hairston should be at 2B with Farris playing 2B (or Counsell, or Wilson) when Hairston plays CF
  18. I don't mind resting Braun tonight. He's looked like he could use a day off during this series. Giving Braun occasional days off will hopefully lead to him finishing the season batting .325+ with a .970+ OPS .... him grinding it out day in & day out could lead to a .305 BA and a .920 OPS I get the sentiment that "why don't they wait till tomorrow"? But the reality is, he's a human being, he's looked pretty run down the last few days. These are the dog days of August. He needs a day off today. As others have said, I don't get Kotsay batting 3rd!!!! In fact Hairston should be starting over Kotsay anyways
  19. It's weird to think about, but there's an outside shot that that is reachable, isn't there? If they play just .500 baseball the rest of the way they'll finish with 89 or 90 wins. So yes 96 wins is possible, though maybe not probable. To finish 96-66 they'd need to go 29-16 the rest of the way. Not likely (but one can dream!)
  20. well, obviously I'll take a Postseason in any form we can get it. That said: Home field advantage in the 1st round would be huge. Clinching early would also mean being able to get our pitchers aligned properly The Brewers all-time win record is 95 wins in 1982. It'd be cool to be able to root for breaking that record late in September with everything else clinched
  21. I am all for getting Shaun Marcum. He has been a huge difference this year and I doubt we'd be in first place without him. One thing we will never know is: did we have to give up Lawrie to get him? I wonder if a combination of Gamel/Rivas and somebody else might've gotten it done? Or Gamel & Thornburg?
  22. Only because Albert Pujols popped up with a runner on second base! The odds on that are not good... At the very very least, Betancourt should not be playing in late innings of close games. The very least
