  1. Kameron Loe does have a 3.81 K/BB rate as opposed to Veras' 2.32 ... Veras walks a lot more batters than Loe. Loe should never face LHB's in MLB though
  2. Kameron Loe has a much lower K/9 rate, a higher career WHIP and LHB's have a .837 OPS against Loe in his career (LHB's vs Veras have a .708 OPS) --- In what way is Loe a better pitcher or even as good as Veras?
  3. Veras doesn't have huge Splits issues that jump out (in terms of being much more effective vs rhb or lhb). He walks too many batters but he strikes a lot of people out too Looks like an upgrade over Kameron Loe to me and at 6-6 245 an imposing presence http://www.baseball-refer...erasjo01&year=Career&t=p
  4. Veras stats http://www.baseball-refer...layers/v/verasjo01.shtml
  5. Surprised and pleased to see that we received someone with some value for McGehee. Jose Veras is a good strikeout pitcher (+10 K/9 in the last 2 years) who will help our bullpen
  6. MLB Network just reported 3 years $36 million for Ramirez
  7. He also said Gamel was as smart as a box of rocks, but I digress because I think Gamel is going to be a very good player. While we're discussing WAR and who mean hows many wins etc... what is the WAR value of never having Mark Kotsay play CF and never having Loe pitch in the 8th inning? That has gotta be worth 1-3 wins right there, correct?
  8. I believe 25 games is for stimulants/marijuana whereas 50 games is for steroids
  9. Signing Carlos Lee would be one of the ways we could become much worse on defense. The only plus I see to that would be getting to hear Bob Uecker call Lee's at-bats on a regular basis. Now, while I don't discount the entertainment value of Mr Uecker, I prefer winning. If we're going after Carlos Lee we might as well go after Adam Dunn, too!
  10. Maybe he's changing agents because he wants to DH in the interleague games in which he's not pitching?
  11. As has been mentioned, Green will still likely get 50-60 games started between Ramirez needing days off, Ramirez starting at 1B on some games and Ramirez being a DH in interleague games.
  12. Is this factual at all? (that Greinke wants a trade) Or is this pure speculation at this point?
  13. I think Ramirez/Gonzalez is an upgrade defensively over McGehee/Betancourt. Ramirez/Gonzalez/Gamel is absolutely an upgrade defensively over McGehee/Betancourt/Fielder
  14. Exactly. A lot of people here hate Yadier Molina. I'd be absolutely thrilled if Molina became a Brewer!!!!
  15. I think when you are looking at this signing you need to understand who we have as a manager. Ron Roenicke would have likely started Casey McGehee over Taylor Green at 3B without Aramis Ramirez on board. Roenicke will already start Gamel at 1B more than likely. he chances of RR starting 2 rookies is very slim.
  16. Now that we have Aramis Ramirez, if we re-sign Prince Fielder we'll be a favorite to win the National League pennant. But the Brewers cannot afford Fielder and winning a World Series or 2 would not effect our TV contract moving forward, and the value of the Milwaukee Brewers franchise hasn't gone up a $100 Million or so since Mark Attanasio & crew bought the team. Putting a powerhouse team on the field year in and year out would have no effect on value of the team or revenue coming in.
  17. I would be surprised if he wasn't. We have Taylor Green to back up 3B & 2B, and I presume that Aramis Ramirez can play 1B if needed. Hopefully we'll be hearing about a McGehee to Texas for a utility infielder trade later today.
  18. I'm happy about this signing. The Brewers just got better and that is a good thing.
  19. At first I was going to say that he's a AAAA type, with his .950 AAA OPS in 2008, but he only played 50 some games with a .751 OPS in AAA in '11. Injuries? He did have a double in the 2010 World Series...
  20. Y'think?! Seems to me that Braun telling the truth is much more likely than him having twice the testosterone levels as anyone who has ever been tested!
  21. It really is, and just seems to keep getting more strange by the hour. "According to the source, there are also chain of custody issues involving the test, which was first performed by Major League Baseball during the playoffs, then sent to the WADA lab" Read more: http://www.nydailynews.com/sports/baseball/ryan-braun-initial-ped-test-results-insanely-high-nl-mvp-lawyer-insists-client-peds-article-1.990020#ixzz1gGricLfN
  22. If the results were twice the levels of testosterone for anyone who has ever taken the test, then Braun is either one of the biggest juicers of all-time (extremely unlikely) or there was some type of problem with the test (much much more likely) I mean, c'mon now, Braun is one of the best right handed hitters in baseball history (in my opinion, he certainly has the stats to back that up in terms of his first several years in MLB). If he was that big of a juicer, he'd be hitting 60-70 HR's a season. There were plenty of balls hit last season that ended up on the warning track or were doubles that, I sincerely believe, would have been HR's if he was a steroid freak Unless you are going to believe that in reality Braun has the natural power of a Jonathan Lucroy type and it is only because of steroids that he averages 30 HR's a season. And I'm just not buying that. Twice the level of testosterone as anyone who has ever taken the test? C'mon now! Its not like he is "Robo-Braun" out there
  23. Caleb Gindl is ready to fill in. And Gomez playing more in CF with Morgan in LF would improve our defense But again, I believe Braun and don't think he'll be suspended. And I bet he comes back with a chip on his shoulder and hits 40 HR's and bats .340
  24. I don't think Braun will end up suspended. I believe Braun and believe he will be exonerated. And I think they will sign Aramis Ramirez regardless That said, if Braun is gone for 50 games, I think you fill in from within (Gindl, Gomez) in LF and try to ride your strong pitching until May 31st in Los Angeles (Game 51). The NL Central likely isn't going to be the most competetive in baseball and with strong pitching and Weeks, Hart, Ramirez you try to stay in it until the best player in baseball comes back.
