Who's Your Favorite Longshot to Make the MLB Roster?
YoungGeezy replied to davemakovec's topic in Milwaukee Brewers Talk
Why waste time critizing a guy who has yet to take a meaning swing for the Brewers? Or a guy who has had a pretty solid career. There is no stat that jumps out and say...oh hell no, this guy doesn't even deserve a spot on the bench. He doesn't strike out much, will take walks, has some pop to drive the ball, and etc. He is no super star but he is solid. I didn't know we needed to have .900 OPS guys sitting on the bench to bat 5-10 times a week. Has Reed, Boggs, Alomonte, or Gamel shown that they deserve a spot or have a track record with any success? I wish Gamel but for the 3rd straight year he has blown his opportunities. Also why continue to make invalid arguements? The other old vets actually showed something that they would be productive? Wrong. Wasting time with stats like BA? Well look at all the other stats, are they magically that much more impressive? No. Sure I bet you can take this stat plus this stat minus that stat divided by that other stat and find someway to prove a point but fact is most baseball stats are pointless. Here is a look at a few older vets that were successful and their performance 3 years prior to Milwaukee: Gab Kapler 32 when signed (05’06’ Boston, 07 retired and coached) AB 227; 57 H; 14 2B; 3HR; 21 RBI; 30/17 K/BB; .250 BA; .310OBP; .660OPS Jeff Cirillo 35 when signed (Seattle 02’ 03’ San Diego 04’ 824 AB; 190 H; 34 2B; 9 HR;84 RBI; 113:60 K:BB; .231 BA; .270 OBP; .580 OPS Jim Edmonds 40 when signed (07’ St.L 08’ Cubs & SD, 09’ Retired) 705 AB; 172 H; 34 2B; 4 3B; 32 HR; 108 RBI; 157:96 K:BB; .244 BA .334 OBP; .775 OPS Mark Kotsay 35 when signed (08’ATL & BOS, 09’BOS &CWS, 10’ CWS) 916 AB; H; 42 2B; 2 3B; 18 HR; 102 RBI; 102:79 K:BB; .265 BA; .321 OBP; .711 OPS While Kotsay's career has dropped off since his Oakland days he still isn't that terrible -

Yeah.....So Kaplers success as a coach for Boston counts? Edmonds batting. 235 in 08 the sitting out all 09? Jeff Cirrilo batting. 249, .205, & .213 the three yrs prior to coming back to Milwaukee? All where guys who careers were over or had played awful recently. Why waste time complaining about Kotsay? Is he going to be an every day player? He will be a 5th OF and a emergancy 1B ( prince doesn't take days off). What's wrong with having a lefty bat with some power on the bench to pinch hit? People act like is an X- factor, he is as expenable as any other bench player outside of Counsel. Prob be gone if Gamel smashes in AAA start the season. I see this as a complete non-issue that gives those who love to complain one more thing. I trust DM and with his track record outside of Suppan ( against any team not the Brewers) he has donean excellent job finding ppl on waviers or older vets who can contribute. There is a reason he is a GM and we are all on a fan forum lol -

I have no problem with Kotsay, we have been very good at bring old veterans and having them produce. It is not like they gave him some massive deal that they can't get ride of him if he struggles. I feel having another veteran bat to come of the bench is really not that bad of a thing. Eric Farris would be my favorite sleeper. Highly unlikely but I feel he offers a lot to the team and new style of play coming off the bench. The one thing I hope is that he gets work at SS as well 2B in AAA. Jeremy Reed is another guy I poll for. This guy was a big prospect bad in the mid 2000's but has had a bunch of set backs and hasn't ever got back on track. Kind of feel bad, he had so much going for him. I cheer for him like I would for a Brad Nelson or Dave Krynzel http://sports.espn.go.com...columns/story?id=1575867 http://www.baseballameric...s/03top10s/whitesox.html -

2011 Brewers Breakout and Disappointing Players of the Year
YoungGeezy replied to Jofis11ep's topic in Milwaukee Brewers Talk
Mark it down right now Carlos Gomez breaks out. I give him every chance possible because with the new aggressive style of baseball Gomez could eat teams alive. He is one of the most explosive guys in all of baseball, just have to have faith he can get on base. Even if it is at only a low .300 clip you have to factor how many more runs that could manufacture over the next guy. (Dickerson is athletic but nowhere near the threat Gomez is, he doesn't have the ability to steal 40+ bases or a threat to go 1st to home on any given hit.) I'm an optimistic individual lol Disappointment: Axford, I like him but I'm not sure he can match his success of last season. -
As of January 14, 2011 no we don't have that kind of caliber but by March 2013 we could, two full years is a long time. As my post pointed out we are too young to know what we have. Where will Heckathorn, Thornburg, Peralta, Scapetta, Nelson, Arnett and so on be in two full season from now. Nor do we know how they will pitch at the major league level. Marcum was a good minor league pitcher but was never thought of an ace type pitcher. From what I saw he was usually graded as a C+. So just because baseball America says Scarpetta, Peralta are only number 3's, does that mean there is no chance they could eclispe that? Some people still don't consider Marcum an ace or top of rotation guy but yet he has pitched stellar in that roll in the best divison in all of baseball. Fact is, a lot can change by 2013, trades, free agents, prospect development, so it is 110% useless to sit here and say well in 2013 we won't be able to compete and max out in the low 80's for wins. Just think back to this time two seasons ago, did you think when you were going through what the 2011 Brewers would be like that the team would have Greinke, Marcum, Wolf in the rotation? Axford would be our closer? McGehee would be going into his third season as the Brewers starting 3rd baseman (2 1/2 yrs)? Gomez and Dickerson in CF? Lucroy not Salome the everyday catcher? I am guessing not. What matters now and next year is we have enough upper level talent to give us needed depth in case of injuries, even if they are not superstars. Our system is young, in two seasons it will look a hell of a lot better with these guys being in AA & AAA over R+, A, A+. Our system is not an issue now or who knows could be a strength in 2013
-
I think our farm is fine, we have great major league talent with nearly everyone except Prince and Weeks (who I think will sign extension) for at least 2011 and 2012. We have Gamel, Green, Farris, Rogers, Rivas, Peralta, Schafer who are all close to being ready this season for at least bench and bullpen roles giving us major league depth. Then you have that next tier group with Scarpetta, Komatsu, Gindl and some others. As I post on the second page he have a buck load of talent who only have 1 or less full seasons in A ball or higher. So of course we are rated so low. In order to be a legit prospect you need to have had success at AA, been a high pick/signing, or put up really sick stats in A or A+. Baseball America is not going to rate the Brewers high when most prospects are inexperienced... Injuried Factor: Rogers has missed over two years before having a great season in 2010, Komatsu sat out all of 2009, Schafer all of 2010 so as of right now Komatsu and Schafer each have one great season under there belt and that is it. Wooten and Anundsen missed all last season both could be decent pro prospects. Wooten as a set-up man or middle reliever and Anundsen as a possible 4 or 5 pitcher. 2009 picks only have 0-1.5 seasons under belt above A ball Arnett, Heckathorn, Ke. Davis, Garfield, Walla, Brooks, Richardson, Roberts, Howell, Gennett, Khris Davis, Lamontagne, Prince, Burgos, and Cravey which I read good things about. By 2013 you figure these are realistic placements MLB: Heckathorn, Kentrail Davis, Lamontagne, Fiers AAA: Gennett, Richardson, Prince, Burgos, Khris Davis, Howell, hopefully Arnett if he turns it around, and I think Garfield AA: Hall, Walla, Roberts, could all be in AA or at least in A+ 2010 Draft class has only had 3 months of baseball and by 2013: -Morris could be in AAA -I could see Thornburg, Nelson, Hawn, Garman, and outside chance Miller, Ross, Neda all in at least AA to start -Rivera, Pierce will still be in Wisconsin maybe BC but have big upside and if Kneeling learns where the strike zone is he could be moving up right with the others. DSL team You never know how they will develop but they have some talent like Jose Pena, Hitaniel Arias, Andres Martinez, Osmel Perez, Ruben Sanchez, Jeffrey Saba, Eliezer Montano, Carlos Sosa, Ronny Pullo, Jose Garcia, Yonki Hernandez, Carlos Pena, Mondesi Jr. all of which will be 23 or younger in 2013. My guess is at least one of these names will become a high ceiling prospect to watch and most should be hitting Wisconsin by 2013. That is just the talent in the last two years without thinking ahead to what we will pick up this season in the draft and where they will be by opening day 2013 (Some may hit AA others most will have completed at least one season in Wisconsin and be in the same spot as Heckathorn, Davis, Gennett. So it is not like so many are making it out to be and we have NO talent because that is untrue and by 2013 when some of these prospects are going to be needed it could be a different story. The brewers system could easily be a top 10 just as easily as it could be somewhere in the 20's. No one knows what will happen, two years A LOT can change but I don't see the Brewers system being consider the worse, even in the 20's after this season and some of the 2010 guys make a name for themselves and 2009 guy duplicate there first season success. Lastly, I have to agree with Colbyjack in that I do not care what our system is ranked. It doesn't matter. The last time I checked no team is completely made up of 100% homegrown players whom were drafted, developed, and promoted to the bigs by there current teams. Brewers need only a couple of prospects a season to turn out and fill the roster with quality players.
-
Schafer is 10 months younger than Gomez and never has seen a major league pitch outside of Spring training, both are plus defenders with unproven bats. I hate double standards that say Gamel, Schafer, Farris and all these other guys Carlos age should be given all these chances but Gomez needs to be given up on. It should be Gomez's to lose, you never straight up give up on a 25 year old, def one with the tangables he has. He learns to walk (which IS actually possible for a player to do) he could be an excellent player. Gomez's ceiling > Schafer's ceiling therefore I hope Gomez plays the way he is capable of and Schafer isn't rushed.
-
For some reason I think Gomez may step up this season, yes he has been in the majors for awhile now but he is still 25. Still not willing to say a 25 year is a complete bust and will never be anything. I think Weeks Hart Braun Fielder McGehee Lucroy Bethancourt Pitcher Gomez Nice think is Weeks, Hart, Braun, Gomez all have the ability to steal at least 20 bases and could all be 30 SB guys. This season can be really exciting if Roenicke runs as much as he said he wants to.

Bold Predictions for Spring Training
YoungGeezy replied to pitchleague's topic in Milwaukee Brewers Talk
Manny Parra comes in with major chip on his shoulder and pitches the way he is capable and wins #5 spot. Which to me Parra with head on straight is a legit #2....really the guy has amazing stuff. If Brewers trade Prince before season I will cry, honestly just ball because if we are going for THIS season, having one of the most game changing bats and a guy who gets on base 40% of the time seems to be a guy we may want to have. I rather make the playoff and maybe the world series more than I want to get prospects in return. -
Early projection of next season's rosters
YoungGeezy replied to And That's topic in Brewers Minor League Talk
I couldn't agree more. There's also no pop off the bench. We really need Gamel to get back to raking. Because we're so thin every injury is going to be magnified. I hope Casey holds up. Of all our starters I think he's most likely to go down long term.Yeah, Gamel is going to be very important this season along with Eric Farris. Outside of those two not sure if any other prospects could be ready to go up if needed. Green possibly, not sure if Schaefer could (doubt it at least until late), and noway I think Gindl could. Who knows Katin may actually get his shot. -
Early projection of next season's rosters
YoungGeezy replied to And That's topic in Brewers Minor League Talk
I think in a dream world these are some things I'd like to see by the end of the year if not the start: Pitching AAA Peralta, Fiers, Lamontagne all see Nashville preferably earlier than later. Fiers and Lamontagne are older 26 and 25 this season and Brewers don't need to take it slow with them. Both have played very well in AA last season and could handle AAA fine. Peralta did well in AA during his 6 starts in AA last season I say start him in Huntsville, let him get going then call him up by May or June. Wooten if healthy should see plenty of AAA time and gets ready to fight for a September Call-up or a roster spot in 2012. I wouldn't mind to see Scarpetta be promoted if he is dealing towards the end of the season to get his feet wet. AA Heckathorn & Seidel in starting rotation to start the season. Anundsen makes an appearance at some point during the season depending when he is full health and has pitched a hand full of games in BC. Trey Watten is pitching in either pullpen or rotation A+ At least one of the college arms shine in Wisconsin (Nelson, Thornburg, Miller, Ross, Keeling) and are promoted by midseason. (Have to figure one is going to run away from the pack like Heckathorn did this season) If Arnett finds his stuff this season a starts dealing in Wisconsin I'd like to see him promoted, if he pitches the way he is suppose to I wouldn't be surprised if they are aggressive with him and get him to Huntsville by seasons end. Fredrickson starts season here and if he fails he will be the next Cody Adams type cut. I think it is really sink or swim time for him. I could see someone like Chad Robinson making the roster to breack camp. (If healthy) A The three that I really want to see here at some point in the season is Lintz, Hall, and Keeling. Keeling has electric stuff...when he finds the strike zone, from what I read he is like 09's Del Howell. He will be 23 this season and hope that he shows enough to make the team. Brooks Hall is a no brainer, the soon the better with him. Lintz actually should improvement last season....until the 4th inning. Everytime i know he was pitching I would check box scores often and I was always so excited because he'd have 3IP 0,1, or 2 H 0ER Couple K's 0 BB and then I check back he would now be 4 IP With 6,7,8 H 4,5,6ER and 4 OR 5 BB and it was like clockwork every game.(Actually in the beginning of the season he was getting blown up early in games) I just keep hoping he will finally get over the hump and put together. If he sees Wisconsin at all that is a big step in the right direction Hitters AAA Schaefer either starts or gets to Nashville relatively quick, M. Maldonado stars at catcher....thought enough of him to protect him, need a catcher (a prospect to go with one of the vets) Wouldn't mind to see Haydel at sometime. Wheeler either is starting at SS or an everyday UT guy (like Hall was early on for crew) Steffan Wilson turns it around this season while playing for Sound. AA Zarraga is starting catcher, The dream OF would be (LF-CF-RF) Khris Davis - Erik Komatsu - Kentrail Davis by the end of the season. Morris starts here and gets time at 1B/3B/OF. Josh Prince may have had a rough season but I still see him starting in AA. Brownstein comes back healthy and gets to AA early in season. Gennett at the end of season would be awesome. A+ Garfield and Richardson start here and finish season here. (If Richardson is playing great I say leave him and be aggressive with him in 2012' if he looks like the player we hoped for) Cody Hawn at some point, hopefully playing 1B and 3B which he played the most in college. A Neda to start season but I would like to see Roberts at some point in the season. Max Walla is a person I would make sure I get to Appleton to watch, batting practice mostly, all the stories and tails of his power still excites me. Chad Stang would be nice if healthy Those are just things I'd like to see happen this up coming season -
Ugh, stole pretty much the words I was about to write! haha But your 100% right not two mention outside Fielder and some relief pitchers the Brewers system has two full years to develop this young/inexperienced group before they will actually need to be ready to compete by 2013-2014. It's hard to consider a player a legit prospect until they have had success at AA or at least 2 years of success above rookie ball (Wisconsin and BC). For our system we do not have much that meet that critera. (If you don't feel like reading everything the last paragraph wraps it all up and shows my main point) List of good prospects who only have one full baseball season or less under their belt above rookie ball: 23 years old or will by end of season: Full Season Experience: Del Howell, Kyle Heckathorn, D'Vontray Richardson, and Kentrail Davis, Khris Davis, Eric Arnett Only Rookie ball: Thomas Keeling, Austin Ross, Cody Hawn, Brian Garman, Jason Rogers 22 years old or will be by end of season Full Season Experience: Scooter Gennett, Cutter Dykstra (only 99 in 09') Only Rookie ball: Jimmy Nelson, Tyler Thornburg, Mike Miller, Tyler Cravy, Rafael Neda, Shea Vucinich, Mike Walker 21 years old or will be by end of season Full Season Experience: Hunter Morris, Maverick Lasker, Nick Bucci Only Rookie ball: Brooks Hall, Seth Lintz, Stosh Wawrzasek, Ken Allison, Mike White, Ronny Puello(OF), Jose Garcia(OF) 20 years old or will be by end of season Full Season Experience: Cameron Garfield Only Rookie ball: Tyler Roberts, Max Walla, Demetrius McKelvie, Hitaniel Arias(1B), Ruben Sanchez(OF), Yonki Hernandez(2B) 19 years old or will be by end of season Only Rookie ball or DSL: Yadiel Rivera (SS), Ronald Johnson, Jeffrey Saba (SP), Eliezer Montano (SP), Carlos Sosa (RP), Andres Martinez (SS), 18 years old or will be by end of season Only Rookie ball OR DSL: Joel Pierce, Jose Pena (OF), Carlos Pena ©, Osmel Perez (SP), Jhonathon Diaz ©, Jorge De La Cruz(3B) *Not many 18 and 19 year olds due to the college heavy draft in 2010 Now some of these guys like the Davis's, Gennett, and Heckathorn made a big splash this year and moved up our boards but need to have another big showing this season in order to really get respect from people at Baseball America or others outside of Brewer Nation. (They usually only care if you were a top pick when your in A ball in terms of prospect rankings or a big international signee.) Guys like Del Howell, Eric Arnett, D'Vo Richardson, Cameron Garfield just didn't have great season, does that mean they will never be big prospects or future Brewers, no, it's one season and first full season in their pro careers. Who knows Garfield's bat may catch up to his D, Richardson will close some of those holes in his swing and play like he did in August, Howell and Arnett may turn it around and show why they were so highly regarded out of college and all of a sudden they start to get attention. Then for those who have never played above rookie ball, who knows how they will perform once they start to move up but there is still a bunch of potential there who could turn into really good prospects. (Hall, Walla, Nelson, Thornburg, Hawn, Pierce and etc) Also can't forget players like Anundsen, Schaefer, Brownstein, Seidel (missed a good chunk), Wooten, Chad Stang and other prospects who have missed most of season with injuries. All can bounce back and have breakout seasons...(Erik Komatsu had monster season in 08' in Helena, missed almost all 09' and now is a top 10-15 prospect in system after great 10' season in BC. All of this writing to get to my main point, the Brewers system is a huge question mark because outside of the select few (Rogers, Gamel, Rivas, Gindl, Green, Farris, and Peralta) no players have made it to or have had success at the AA level, most haven't even seen the field in Advanced A yet. Until these players make it up to and have success at these higher levels no one will give them credit. Komatsu, Schaefer, Scarpetta are all in that limbo stage right now where they had their lower level success but won't be consider legit MLB prospects until they prove it this season. So right now the system is bare, empty and seems like a black hole but by the end of the 2011 season it will start to look better with many of the prospects having played more than one full season and by the the end of 2012 should seem much better and more deep with the majority of these inexperienced players now having played in AAA, AA, and A+. 2 top 15 picks never hurts eighter!

For the question as to why everyone is done on Rogers, I didn't realize that people really were down on him. He can't be counted on to be a starter all season but that has nothing to do with talent and is because he is still increasing innings and would need to start out in the pen first in order to not reach his max before the end of the season, same would go for Jeffress or even Braddock if for some reason they decided to make him a starter again (don't think that would happen) If Rogers could just throw strikes consistantly I have no doubt Gallardo and him could be that 1 2 punch we hoped for when they were both drafted but without strikes it will turn out to be the Gallardo/ Parra 1 2 punch that let us all down. As he showcased at the end of the season, when he throws strikes and pitches to contact, he is Ace potential, but you never know if he is going to walk 6 in a game or throw strikes, get a good amount of K's and have an insane amount of ground balls. Needs to be consistant, that will make or break his career along with health
-
Doesn't matter if he he profiles as a #3 or $4 and pitches like a #2, makes no difference, all that matters is this guy has pitched extremely well the last two seasons not just in the American League but in the toughest divison in all of baseball. Trading Yankees, Red Sox, Rays and O's for Cards, Cubs, Astros, and Pirates, are you joking me ha, he must feel as if he is in heaven! People put way to much emphasis on, WOW he is 6'5 and throws 95 he is a #1 or oh he is 6'0 and throws 90, the guy is no better than a #3 or #4. Really all I care about is if this guy can 1) not give up runs 2) keep a good Whip and not walk many batters 3) make it though 5 or 6 innings without a major meltdown (something Bush, Parra, Suppan, Davis, and many more Brewer pitchers struggle greatly with). If he can do those, he is in great shape and I don't care if he is just a smart #4, he is doing the job very well and that will translate into Brewer wins.

Ken Macha won't be back - option for 2011 not picked up
YoungGeezy replied to Rightomac13's topic in Milwaukee Brewers Talk
Like I said before Willie is actually a coach/teacher. The two years of work that he has put in with Weeks defensively (this is counting before injury) his defense actually has really improved. The whole can't spell weeks with out 2 E's and a K is now you can't spell Weeks without out a K. It seems like every play on that team has taken to him and Dale. If you want to be successful you can't continue to flush out people players trust, bond with and improve under. As a football coach I see some teams in our conference coaching coaches every couple of years and the teams never develop. The thing that I like most is we have an explosive offense, that will only improve when a manager like Randoph lets those players use their biggest strong....there speed! To have the speed we do and have as little as steals as we do is just absurd. I'm biased Randoph was one of my managers with the Mets so naturally I love the thought of him taking over the Crew. Plus health willing he is in a good situation with pitchers getting pretty close to knocking on the door and some that are (Rogers, Jeffress, Rivas all could factor in Braddock was outtstanding outside of one horrible outting and will continue to get better with age) Then you got Odorizzi, Scarpetta, Peralta and Heckathorn getting closer. Not to bad. -
Ken Macha won't be back - option for 2011 not picked up
YoungGeezy replied to Rightomac13's topic in Milwaukee Brewers Talk
Development of pitching is not DM's job so all that falls on Jack Z (brought them in) and Reid Nichols (develops them) 100%. Doug's job is to promote the players who are ready for the bigs, to bring in FAs, make trades, resign players and so on. I always see people complain about DM and his crappy draft record with pitchers or how he can't develop minor league arms (large majority are the brain dead commentors from jsonline not on here so much, we actually have some intellegence ha) but it's not his job. His worry is the big league stuff. Sure, he knows what every player is doing and is ultimately Nichols and now Seids boss and has say but he lets them do there job and he does his. I actually think that Ash oversees the minors day to day stuff out of the two. So I agree as a GM he does a good job, he works off a much smaller budget than most get to, he keeps the team competetive, and there are plenty of GM's who are much worse. Who would you rather take Sal Bondo, Dean Taylor or Doug Melvin.... I think it is a pretty easy choice. -
Ken Macha won't be back - option for 2011 not picked up
YoungGeezy replied to Rightomac13's topic in Milwaukee Brewers Talk
I think that is true but with Randoph he really is a whole new idea and style of baseball than Macha. To me it is hard to believe that he would have stuck around two years as bench coach here unless he thought he could be in line to take over the team. You'd think given his track record and everything else he would have other options. -
Ken Macha won't be back - option for 2011 not picked up
YoungGeezy replied to Rightomac13's topic in Milwaukee Brewers Talk
I think Cirillo would be idea, Hoffman if he wants to stick in baseball could be an excellent pitching coach. Just from listening to how all the other pitchers talk about him and how important he has been to the young guys like Braddock, seems like a perfect fit but his boys are getting older and he will probably want to retire so he can watch/coach them. I'd be happy if they'd bring in some former Brewer for that role such as bringing back Cecil Cooper or Robin Yount as bench coach (I'd assume that they would all get along with Randoph and Yount is best friends with Dale) A coach staff i'd like is: Manager -Willie Randolph Bench -Robin Yount Hitting -Dale Sveum Pitching - Rick Peterson (he can't be blamed for what he was given a deserves one more season) Bullpen - Stan Kyles 1st Base- Ed Sedar 3rd Base- Sandy Guerrero (He has been a good coach in the minors and he can help them better with gomez and escobar) -
Ken Macha won't be back - option for 2011 not picked up
YoungGeezy replied to Rightomac13's topic in Milwaukee Brewers Talk
No shock, Brewers knew that it'd be impossible to bring him back with the lack of support the move would get. Brewer Nation would go nuts if he was brought back. So bring on Willie Randoph or (Slightly a joke)Ryne Sandberg as the next Brewer Manager! Why Sandberg you may ask? 1) He will be extremely pissed off at the Cubs if they go in a different direction and just to spite them he could leave to big time nemeis (White Sox and Cards have no openings) 2)He know just as much about baseball as anyone else we could bring in, plus he has attidude and confidence something we have lacked since Ned Yost was fired. 3)This is the main reason.....what a slap in the face to Cubs!!! God could not explain how much enjoyment I would get out of the heartbreak the Cub fans will feel after there belover Sandberg, not only great player but someone they thought would be there great manager of the future ups and leaves them to go to one of the foes....It would be like all those Packer fans who still cry and complain about Favre leaving for the Vikings. Hate the idea all you want, when I first to my dad he was like what? why? like most, then I gave him those reasons and he ended saying hmmmm thats actually not to bad of an idea. Take it as you will In reality though I hope it is Willie because I thought he was great with the Mets and he has everything your looking for: He has personality, players love him, he will have there backs, he knows how to coach/teach actually (that is a great quality). Why risk it bringing in another guy that you have no clue if they will gel with the players or connect. Players loved Ned Yost and even when they were bad they were fighters out there and would battle to the end, with Macha the players didn't gel and seemed to play flat and give up a lot. That could just be me though. Have to bring in a guy that the players all respect and Randolph already has that. Easy choice Dougy.. -Also lets not forget that Willie really likes to run, and our team is really fast! So all these guys who only had like maybe 10 steals this season because Macha hates to run, will be in the 30's to 40's if not higher (Hart and Braun both are capable of 30, David Wright was over 30 with Willie so I think that is fair to say). Just look Escobar, Cain, Gomez, Weeks, Braun, Hart, and even someone like Lucroy could add some more off those heads up steals. -
Yeah, it was seven days of rest for Jake before this start. Odorizzi is blowing away the league at 20. Non-alcoholic beverage to celebrate, young man... http://web.minorleaguebaseball.com/images/players/mugshot/ph_543606.jpg Lol with the Brewers luck he will have two front page articles in tomorrow's paper, the first and the big one will be Odorizzi, Rosario No Hit Cedar Rapids! The second and smaller one on the side column will be 20 year old T-Rat Star Pitcher Recieves Underage Drinking Ticket After No Hitter (well thats a little long of a title but ha) Very happy I was able to catch the end of the game and congrats Odorizzi and Rosario!

I think this was huge for Jake. I thought that over the last five games that maybe his arm was just worn out having pitched 108 IP's (pitch only 67.2 innings during his first to seasons, 47 innings coming in Helena last season.) That is a big jump. But I think tonight proved that he his arm is still good. Here is just a look at what I was talking about that made me think that he was just spent... First 21 games (18 starts) 78.2IP 64h 25ER 26bb 96k's Over his past 5 (prior to tonight) 29.1IP 28H 18ER 10BB 24K

Well just think if the MLB didn't foolishly get ride of draft and follow canidates this whole situation could have been resolved. He could have had until next May or June to learn how to manage and live with his diabetes while playing at one of the 100 of JUCO schools within the 2 hour radius of Pasedena(spelled wrong) and make up his mind if he wanted to go pro and be a Brewer or transfer to University San Diego(I would think they would still be more than willing to give him a scholarship). Sadly the MLB destroyed a good thing (one were the Brewers really excelled). Bring Back the draft and follow!!!!

Lol, have you not read this form at all? The reason why they had a lack of time is because Bud Selig told every team to wait until last minute to sign over slot players for other draft picks can't use other players over slot signing prices as a barginning chip. If you think that the 300k is that much over slot for the 14th pick, you better look at some of the other over slot price. Stetson Allen got 2.5 million as a second round pick which I believe is close to 2 million over slot....Brewers got lucky Covey only wanted 2 million which was more than fair. So no it was not their greed that made it last minute
