  1. Not sure if it was the bad note the Brewers ended on this season or what but geez people have been turning everything into a big arguement lately. Heck i may have just not wrote that first sentince the way someone wanted and they may start a 3-4 page arguement about it. Its crazy. It happen with Josh in the Brent Brewer topic also and it is like some of you don't want any "insider type" people on here. Everytime they write something its like people nick pick at what they wrote a lot more than if myself, ColbyJack, Mass, or anyone else wrote it. I personally love that people like coach and Josh come and give us insite on Angel and the other players. In the last 2 weeks we have made both off those guys not even want to post anymore and that is rediculious. As far as the discussion goes they way I see it is a lot like most, we have two promising catchers for the first time since god knows when and I'm excited for it. I'm happy with eighter of them and think come spring, the one that all around plays best wins the starting job while Kottras or Rivera backs them up.
  2. Albert by far earned so not prob at all with Prince getting no 1st place votes but how, with those stats did he finish fouth and Braun 11th? It just goes to show how people around baseball feel about the Brewers I guess. No respect. 3 8th place votes, 3 10th place votes??? After batting .300 leading the league in RBI's and walks(think), and hitting 45 bombs. All around his stats where awesome and they claim he was 8th or 10th in the the NL alone. That is aweful.
  3. Yeah, well he is actually an insider.....so that would make him know more than any of us at least when it comes to Cain, Green, Jeffress, Brewer, Dennis and the rest of his clients. I understand what you mean though about saying who it is but can't tell us and why would he make the comment but at the same time he literally can not say anything until everything is signed on the dotted line. To me its like when you hear an exciting secret and your dying to tell all your friends but you can't so you just just give them a cliff hanger or little clues. I really don't get why everyone is riding him so hard. Give the guy a break. It's been 4 pages of the exact same comments trying to make him defend himself. Being an agent isn't an easy job, and we all say thing that come out wrong, for him the "bogus" was a little strong and rattled a bunch up and if he would have just said that is not true I talked to him the other day and he is commited to baseball this forum would have been done after page 1. It happens and now we know that Brewer is staying with baseball so there is no reason to keep riding him because guess what he was right.
  4. Really? Great for Darren! I haven't kept up with him since the trade but he was one of my favorite prospect before he got traded. When will Jeffress's suspension be over? I hope he comes back strong, head screwed on straight and hopefully stays clean at least until he reaches the majors.
  5. I say Battle Royale! ha I like both of them and have been a big Salome fan since they picked the kid. The best solution in my opinion is to bring them both in for Spring Training along with Rivera or another catcher and let them all slug it out. The one that overall plays better (not just hitting but the other tangables) wins the job but I do think it should be one or the other with Rivera or FA being their to backup and catch about every 3rd game or so
  6. I mentioned this a couple of times during the season that I had a feeling he would go back to football. I think football suites his talent better, he hasn't been able to translate his is unbelievable athletic ability to the baseball diamond. Nothing wrong with that, baseball is a tough sport to make it in and if he feels football may be a better route for him to go and get his degree on top of that, go for it Brent. But I'd go play at Ok St. Gundy's offense is great and with their depth at WR he'd prob play right away. Realistically, Escobar is going nowhere soon, Prince has already over took Brent as the 2nd best SS and we still have a handleful of talented CF's coming up. It wouldn't be an easy road for him to stick with the Brewers.
  7. I remember when this team was made of potential and everyone loved it. Now we have this 23 year old who was a top 10? top 20? prospect in all of the minors a few years ago with potential up the wazoo and now every is crying. Gomez isn't a bust, he is a prospect that Twin fans were extremely excited for. Even that his bat hasn't came around yet Twin fans loved the kid.
  8. Gwynn had a 2.8 WAR this year. Gomez has been a 3.3 WAR player in his career.plus Gwynn is older by 3 or so years
  9. Cain is around the same age and is still considerably behind where Gomez is right now. Defensively and even offensively even though Gomez still has to develop much more
  10. this reminds me a lot of the Melky Cabrara for Cameron thing last year that almost went down except I like Gomez potenial a lot more
  11. That's why everyone not a Brewer fan or Twin fan thinks it is a good even trade. Im happy with it and like the added 14 million
  12. That is because Brewer fans over value Hardy way way way to much
  13. Turns out we didn't get anything for him. I'd rather keep him, hope he regains his value by the trade deadline next year and if he doesn't then you can still make a terrible trade for him later.Again, Gomez is the best defensive CF in baseball. We were going to miss Cameron next year so much. Who could the brewers have replaced in CF next year? We are actually UPgrading on defense in center next year. He's only 23 going to be 24. He still not developted yet on offense. If he can learn to take a walk once in awhile, we all of a sudden have an elite player. Now only if half of the people on here would understand that...
  14. Agreed! The kid is only 23 almost 24. He has the body to fill out and develop some more pop and become the dynamic player that people thought he was going to become. People can complain and complain that he is not enough for JJ but this kid was the big piece of the trade for maybe the best pitcher in baseball (Santana). Most kids at 23 are still developing in the minors. Not every prospect will come out and play like Miguel Cabrara did off the bat when they are thrown in the mix so young . Can't consider a /2324 year old a bust already. He still has to develop more but he is a cheap alternative to Cameron by over 9.5 million. Cain our "future" CF is only a about a year younger and nowhere near where Gomez is. Truth is JJ's value is probably no where close to where most of Brewer fans thought it was. Yes maybe we could have got a good "prospect" pitcher who wouldn't contribute this year and may never make it or a another middle of the line, okay major league pitcher. DM has cleared some salary to make some room for a big pitcher. some of the Possible FA's that stand out to me: Josh Beckett Erik Bedard Justin Duchscherer Rich Harden Tim Hudson Cliff Lee Jarrod Washburn Brandon Webb There are options and as long as DM steps up and doesn't settle for a Suppan/ Looper I am 100% in appoval of the trade. So step up and get it down DM!!
  15. Lucroy is ridicious right now! Another Double again tonight and unless I missed a game I think his hit streak is still going and pushing 20 games. For the first half off the season I was pretty disappointed with his bat, same with Salome is June and beginning of may but man they really have turned it around and got it going. Hopefully one of them will become the real deal for us. God knows that we have been waiting a long while for a home grown stud behind the plate
  16. Looks like a good prospect to me http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
  17. Whatever happened to Josh? Was it injuries or what that had his career end so fast with the Brewers? Was one of the big 3 from Rice, a higher draft pick (4th round I think) he struggled a bit and then he was just gone. I don't know this artice got me wondering. EDIT: Shortened quote from article...
  18. I'd agree with ours except I think Jones needs to be. He still has good upside and could help us out. If it came down to him and Cody I'd probably take Jones.
  19. Little surprised by the move but like what Homer said we have seen this happen a number of times in the past. They did it late last season with Jeffress who wasn't pitching lights out at the time. I think its good for him to hit the better competition in AA and his bat may be ready but his defense is still a ways away. Then again, since when do they Brewers care about the defense when they have a guy who can hit. Fielder, Braun, Weeks, and Gamel were all guys who were considered to have sub par defense when they were called up.
  20. Ha, come on now Briggs, you know just as well as I do that Farris could get 5 hits with 2SB's every game the rest of the season and X still wouldn't call him a prospect. No use trying to sway him. Great to see Gindl jump right back into things and as for Schaefer....I still can't figure why they never gave him the bump back up to AA. I know Cain is back but man he is playing some great baseball and also has learned to walk a little more. Just to add, man its wonderful to see the Braddock the Great back and dominating. I really do think that his future is in the pen as a future closer. The guy is to flithy when he is able to just go out there and throw as hard and nasty as he can. It'd be nice if he did work out in the rotation but you can never complain about having a great closer.
  21. Yah, I don't see any of these guys except for maybe Cody or Heether to be added. I'd love if they did add Jones, that be great but the rest don't need to be added until the fall. As for fallI have to believe Cain, Green, Braddock, Rivas, Butler, Cody and maybe Jones would have to be added. I don't see them wanting to leave any of those guys unprotected. Rivas has simular value as Periard had when he was added. Someone would for sure be willing to give Braddock a chance and Butler, Cain and Green also would be quality rule 5 picks. Cody and Jones may be able to not have to be put on the 40 man. It's going to be interesting with Salome. Do they bring him up and give him a pinch hit here and there or do they rest him and make sure he is healthy for the AFL. I doubt he will get any starts if he did get called up, Macha has a hard on for Kendell and Rivera swings the bat great whenever he gets a chance to ( Thank god he finally is giving Rivera a chance to play instead of thinking Kendell is the greatest catcher ever and needs to play everyday and lead off once in awhile)
  22. Now I just have to wait to see how X tries to cover this up for his arguement that Farris is no way shape or form a legit prospect because he is 23 years old and Ops isn't steller in A plus. May not be the best prospect but will make it to the bigs and be a very handy utility guy, or maybe even a starter
  23. ha sorry bout that but yeah I see what your saying now. I could def see him passing both Brett at second base if he was ever moved over there because like you said the leadoff reason plus who really knows if Lawrie will stick at second or move to the outfield.
  24. The guy takes walks, hits for good average, has crazy speed, said to have some pop in his bat, in college was a plus defender with good range( so still has plenty of potential @ shortstop) and is like 21 and you already think he only can be a bench player... that's a little questionable. He def has starting potential
  25. Butler 1 inning and struck out the side, hope gets back up soon
