I really like the lineup for tonight. While Weeks has been horrendously bad this postseason, I think that sitting him would be a huge mistake. Four hours to go...
While I'm not going to defend the Brewers for their play last night, I do think we often overestimate what constitutes "average" defense these days. With Gomez in center I don't think this team is horrible defensively, but that's probably more of a testament to how good Gomez is than anything. Hairston is a solid player who saved two runs with a brilliant play and then gave them up with a boneheaded play. If he had let the first ball go by and played the second cleanly I don't think we'd even be thinking about it. Weeks and Yuni were painful last night. Gomez made a beautiful play in CF. On the level, I think it was more the timing of the miscues than anything. Any way you slice it, it was pretty tough to watch.
Yea, I think BA has done a very good job of not showing his bias this season, outside of perhaps the huge inning in game 1. He's a really good announcer.
Then you remember slugger make ball go far, and you remember why we're 2-2 and won 96 games this seasonhttp://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/tongue.gif.
Yeah, as frustrating as it is, even if the club loses tonight, we just need to win two games in a row to go to the World Series. At home. Just win game 6, and win game 7. Or better yet, mount a comback!
Or not. Hard to tell if Betancourt had a play there, probably best just to take the out. It's getting way to late in the game for them to keep tacking on these runs...
Meh. Most of those guys seem pretty reasonable. I think the main difference here is that somehow the "riff raff" don't seem to stick around on this board. I haven't had problems with Cards fans at Miller Park. They're generally pretty respectful and enjoy watching the game. It's hard not to be a football first state when the Packers have been arguably the greatest franchise in NFL history and the Brewers have been one of the worst franchises over the last 40 years. I do think there are a lot of baseball first people in Wisconsin now, but I think it would be foolish to deny that the Packers are still king.
Or we could just send Josh Wilson their way. JHJ flew under the radar at the trade deadline and I'm thrilled they picked him up. I see no reason not to give the guy a 2-year, $4 million deal.
uh, did you hear Plush after Game 5 vs AZ? And that was when he knew the mic was right there I'm pretty sure sveum is alluding to all of those Cardinals fans who were disgusted by Morgan's actions.
Something I actually thought about today: Should the manager be just about the last person to trust when evaluating an outfielder? They can hardly even watch an outfielder throughout the season. I mean, the dugout has to be one of the worst possible spots to evaluate outfield defense.
