  1. He does seem to be making better contact, although it is painful watching him try to beat out a DP. I really hope he can turn it around, but only time will tell.
  2. It doesn't help when the corners aren't considered part of the strike zone. He should be out of this inning.
  3. I'm sorry, but this is just silly. People predict epic recessions/the end of America all the time, and the bottom line is that they are largely unpredictable by any means. If this is your opinion of economics you have little understanding of the field. That is an extremely ignorant statement.
  4. Given the 25 man roster, I don't mind Kotsay playing 1B. He probably handles the position fine. I would have liked to see Gamel or Green up for interleague, but so it goes. I actually would have liked to see Kotarras get a shot at 1B over Kotsay, but that's not a huge improvement.
  5. I'm sorry you feel so inadequate. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gifWell played, Mauer.
  6. xFIP = 2.03 K/BB = 8.57 For some reason, guys have been getting good wood on some of his pitches despite looking foolish on many of his pitches. He's getting a decent amount of the plate right now, but his peripherals are still very very good. He'll be fine; 50 innings is not nearly enough to judge a pitcher by. He'll be fine.
  7. 10-5 I'm sick of being a debbie-downer. McGehee is going to get things going, Greinke will start trimming runs off that ERA, and Yuni can't get any worse. So much for rationality!
  8. When I hear Darwin Barney, I think 5'4" dweeb in high school who will live with his parents until he's 37 years old. Jose Bautista has struggled as of late, he's now down to a measly 4.7 WAR on the season (down from 5.0). Maybe they'll take Yuni for him.
  9. Hey dlks, mine is biggerhttp://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/tongue.gif. http://www.travelfreehi.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/05/north-carolina-tar-heels-fan-gear.jpg
  10. D, relative to other MLB managers, most of whom I find to be borderline incompetent. I'll give him a B for his relationship with the players (too early to judge how they'll like him when they're really struggling) and a solid F for his understanding of the game and evaluation of talent. I do think it's important to have a manager that motivates the players, I just feel like his friendly persona can't even nearly outweigh his incredibly poor understanding of baseball talent.
  11. Might today be a breaking point for Yuniesky Betancourt? I think it's clear at this point that even a dismal platoon of Craig Counsell and Josh Wilson should easily outproduce Yuniesky.
  12. Aggressive baserunning FTW! What the heck was he doing there?
  13. What the heck is going on with Greinke? He's striking out batters like mad, but when they can actually make contact the ball seems to get smashed. I think we all know he'll be much better than this down the stretch, but boy is this getting frustrating.
  14. Kottaras 2, Oxy 1http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/tongue.gif
  15. DFA Kottaras. Ugly passed ball, but the guy hasn't caught Greinke much outside of a couple rehab starts and it's his first inning back in the majors. In his career, Kottaras averages one passed ball per 66 innings, Nieves one per 158 innings. One has to imagine the bat more than makes up for the extra 1.5 passed balls per 150 innings. Are there any Nieves supporters on here anymore?
  16. Plushdamentals: If Mr. Plush hits an infield single, Braun will follow with a longball.
  17. Don't they owe him like, half of British Columbia? I think he has $55 million left on his deal, and it ends in 2021 I believe. So yeah, that's about half of BC. I really hope he isn't broken now.
  18. Yuni's the type of guy I can see either (1) hitting for the cycle or (2) having a 25 game hitting streak where he goes 1/5 with a single in each game. This must be due to my fear of having to hear about the last Brewers' cycle, by Yuniesky Betancourt. That would be worse than hearing of Chad Moeller. I can also see him going a long time without making an error. All of these could be justifications for keeping him in the lineup. I think I've developed Yubetaphobia.
  19. Oh boy. Here are his splits, per Baseball-Reference: vs. RHB: 226 PA, .362/.420/.533/.953 vs. LHB: 177 PA, .206/.270/.284/.554 If that doesn't scream LOOGY I don't know what does. Everything Roenicke says concerns me more.
  20. Without looking and after your Greinke hint I would assume it is Nieves' batting average lined up with all of our starting pitcher's batting averages.Nope, it's their wOBA's. Needless to say, Wil Nieves was not having a good year.
  21. Roenicke was probably sick of us making fun of him for using Braddock as a LOOGY, so he decided he wanted a real LOOGY (/blue). Well, it really sucks to lose Braddock for now; he's one of the club's best relievers and now he's going to be stashed away in AAA.
  22. DFA Luongo. What a joke.
  23. What the heck is Luongo doing edging outside the crease to play the bad angle shot there? Given that he misplayed that entire play and had his momentum going the wrong way, it's not hard to expect that puck to end up in the back of the net. Oh well, 24 more minutes and a power play. If things don't turn around, there's always next season!
  24. "I thought it was going to be Estrada for a while." It doesn't seem like Roenicke either (1) looks at the statistics or (2) watches baseball.
  25. Ouch! 82 and sunny for the second straight day here in Chapel Hill, NC! Gotta cool the nerves on Brewerfan during the commercial breaks in the Stanley Cup Finals. Go CanucksCrew!
