  1. Seriously. I counted only two pitches he actually came set so far this inning. Don't you have to at least say something to an umpire. Maybe get in Kershaw's head.
  2. That stupid hands over his head thing should be a balk, but they haven't called it his whole career so why start now. But other than that, Kershaw pretty much never comes set. They have to call it at some point, right?
  3. Why say it like this, seriously? If you called a Woodruff hit, then show us. Otherwise don't post stuff like this. Ridiculous to put this kind of tone in a game thread when the Brewers have been playing so well and everyone should be enjoying it. Blue=sarcasm
  4. Apparently he does: Hiring Doug Melvin is not a "we're rebuilding" move. It's a "we're going to try to fill our holes and go for it in the next two years" move. There's no way any of those pitchers are going to be moved this offseason, unless it's for a major haul to fill several offensive holes on the major league squad. Doug did a pretty good job of getting the rebuild started here, when he was allowed to. I don't think it matters who the Mets hire, rebuilding will not be an option. I don't think just regular building is really an option either, though.
  5. I thought Brian Sabean was retained to run everything in SF, even though they fired their GM. I think it will be interesting to see what Stearns does the rest of his career. He's got about 30 years of "work" left in him and he's already reached pretty much the highest level of his profession. If we win the World Series this year what more does he have to accomplish?
  6. This was me until I had a fresh garden-grown tomato. I love them and fresh cherry tomatoes, but still cannot stand anything bought at the grocery store or in a can. Grow a garden full of tomatoes every year. Still hate them. My son, on the other hand, eats them like candy.
  7. I came here to post that. First off Dan LeBatard is an (former?) ESPN idiot who like most news personalities is more interested in creating controversy than reporting news. Secondly, the lead up to his question was basically, say something ridiculous. As for whether or not MLB wants to see to Dodgers in the World Series, I don't know if they want an organization currently under federal investigation in the national spot light. In fact, I'm surprised I've only seen that mentioned in the initial story that came out about it a couple weeks ago.
  8. He's actually 61 years old. I would guess that still puts him on the young side for an owner of a pro sports team.
  9. Things I like: Ketchup Tomato soup Salsa Marinera/Pasta/Pizza sauces Things I hate: Raw tomatoes My wife made a dish with diced tomatoes in it. I saw them and didn't think much of them until I took a bite and had the taste of raw tomato on my tongue. I just couldn't do it, I had to spit the tomato out. Raw, I think they're just about the most disgusting thing there is.
  10. He's got to be one of the youngest owners in pro sports I would think. Weren't his kids in high school or younger when he bought the team?
  11. College is different because the kids have a choice of where to go and most of the best of the best chose to go to the best teams. Amateur baseball players wouldn't have a choice (more or less) in a draft, so all the top talent isn't going to funnel in to a few organizations. I agree a random draft order would be stupid but the college example does not fit. I think the draft order should be based on your combined record the previous 5 seasons or so instead of just the previous year.
  12. Look at the kickers that are getting cycled through and cut already this season. Maybe there's a guy out there that's an upgrade but is it worth it to throw crap at the wall to see?
  13. I'd prefer the Astros over either Boston or New York As a baseball fan, I would prefer the Astros. But I think the Yankees are the most beatable of that group, so I guess go Yankees?
  14. Based on service time, I believe. Pretty sure when we acquired Brad Miller he was like a day away from have enough service time that he couldn't be sent down or something like that.
  15. Does anyone know if Jeff Angus, the author of the book Management by Baseball, is from Wisconsin? I've found a good bit about him by Googling but nothing ever mentions where he's from. He's a SABR member so between that and the fact that most people here are from Wisconsin, I'm hoping someone knows. And if he is, does anyone know how to contact him? I tried the email address on his website and it came back undeliverable and also messaged him on LinkedIn a few weeks ago with no response.
  16. My wife was looking for the "Our Crew, Our October" sweatshirts online. Somehow she missed them despite spending half an hour on MLB Shop. Anyway, I found them for her. $80 for a sweatshirt!? No thanks. I said I'll get her one off of eBay for like $30 after the playoffs are over.
  17. So because we're winning we can't acknowledge that our offense has looked putrid against average at best pitching? If we advance, whoever we play will have a batter offense and better pitching. Ya, I'm excited to (probably) be moving on but there are lots of red flags in the batters box.
  18. Not upset, just pointing out that our crappy offense is still crappy. The Rockies gifted us those runs.
  19. Is that rule still in effect for the playoffs? Seems like it shouldn't be I could swear I've seen them finish a playoff game the next day before. Changed the rule about 10 years ago that all playoff games have to be at least 9 innings.
  20. 2 runs were great but we still struck out 3 times and the batters did nothing to bring those runners in with less than 2 outs.
  21. No. https://www.baseball-reference.com/players/gl.fcgi?id=cainlo01&t=b&year=2018 Not sure what your point is. The last 13 games he's slashed .255/.308/.277 with 1 extra base hit. That's struggling for a couple weeks.
