  1. With the top of the order up why do you send him on anything that might be close? Love Suter!
  2. Nice to see a pitcher have an at bat like they actually give a crap instead of watching 3 straight down the middle.
  3. The rotation order is what it is. They're not going to mess with it just so Suter doesn't start today.
  4. When you consider all the never-will-be's that make up minor league rosters, I don't know how anyone can complain about Tebow being around. His numbers are serviceable and he sells tickets where ever they play.
  5. Rule 3.03 Comment: A pitcher may change to another position only once during the same inning
  6. The pitcher can only go to a position and come back to pitch once an inning. So, yes, you can do it (and it happens a couple times every year). You can't do it multiple times in an inning though.
  7. More than anything that just shows how bad of shape the Blue Jays are in right now. From one of the better teams in the AL for a few seasons to a rudderless ship. This is more of an observation than a "News or Note" but it seems like the vast majority of teams are playing Saturday afternoon games. Seems like it used to be there were only a couple Saturday afternoon games but bow just about all of them are. Which means this weekend almost everyone is playing 3 straight day games. That is very unusual.
  8. This is the Brewer team we're used to seeing. Blowing leads late and boneheads on the bases.
  9. Finally got around to the Brooklyn 99 season finale. I guess it's going to NBC so there will be more episodes but the finale would have been a perfect way to end the series aside from the Captain Holt storyline. I get why they brought Fred Arminsen in, since I'm pretty sure his character was in the first scene of the series but I was expecting Jack Black to be the musician they found since Kyle Glass was in the episode too.
  10. A 38 year old catcher who is somehow a worse hitter than Bandy. What could go wrong?
  11. My driving peeve lately has been, just driving on a normal city street, 2 lanes with parked cars on either side, if there is a car approaching in the opposite direction they will happily cross over the center line into my oncoming lane so that they can give that parked car a good 5 to 10 feet of clearance. Meanwhile they're coming about 3 feet away from my car, which isn't parked and is moving towards them at or above the speed limit. What logic makes these drivers feel like the parked car is a bigger danger than the one moving right at them? Yet it happens over and over and over every single day! Absolutely. A few of the streets in my neighborhood are narrow and have cars parked on both sides most of the time. It is very much the minority of drivers that don't swerve in front of me to miss a parked car when simply driving slower would work better.
  12. I'm sure that was the Cubs' thinking with Chapman as well. While he helped get them a Series win, if there were looking to lock him up longterm, that backfired. That maybe true, I don't think it was but of course I don't know for sure. Still, my point was they would have that intention and attempt to do it so it makes more sense, not saying it would work. MKE would have 0 chance at resigning him. The way they abused Chapman when they had him tells me they had no intentions of signing him long term.
  13. Lorenzo Cain was such an anti-Stearns move too. David Stearns has been a GM for very little time and has essentially never managed a contender before this year. Sometimes I feel people act like we have 20 years of data to look back on and know what he will or won’t do. I doubt we blow up a chunk of the farm for a premium rental...but I can’t say I know Stearns wouldn’t do it ever. The only couple months of team control is why it's an anti-Stearns move. Unless the price drops to peanuts, Davey's not going after him.
  14. See, we can draft MLB starting pitchers! Im both happy for the kid, and sad for the Brewers at the same time. Stupid Dibeetus! Personally, as a Type 1 Diabetic myself, it has always bothered me that the Brewers didn't seem interested in working with Covey to get on top of his prognosis. There have been plenty of Type 1 diabetics that have gone on to have successful professional athletic careers after being diagnosed, yet it seemed like the Brewers wanted no part of Covey. A big part of me really wants him to succeed and kind of show the Brewers up on this one. And yes, I know it's been a winding path for Covey to get to the Big Leagues. But I'm glad he's there and has found some success. I don't think it was the Brewers that didn't want to work with him but his family felt he would be better off going to college and staying close to home. T1 myself so I understand wanting to stay close to home but I really doubt any college program would care more about your health than a major league organization that just invested millions of dollars in you. I can't imagine them money he lost going from the 14th overall pick to a 4th rounder. His signing bonus could have easily paid for a personal dietician or chef for his first couple years. Which would have been much better than the diet of cafeteria food, fast food, and beer he probably lived on in college.
  15. I know he's prone to getting rocked but I love watching Suter. Puts more effort into everything he does than just about any pitcher in baseball.
  16. Perez, barf. Why not put Choi in LF and hit leadoff? Not a traditional choice either but certainly less dumb.
  17. Really disappoint in Counsell. He had a situation where he needed to go ballistic and all he could muster were some feverous arm swings. Pina did more to get tossed than Craig did.
  18. Can’t say I agree. If Brian Anderson is fired up about a bad call, you know it's really bad call.
  19. How much more national market exposure did the Brewers gets when they acquired CC or Greinke? Probably not much more and any was certainly because the team was actually good, winning games, and a playoff contender.
  20. Thats funny to me. A guy who signed for 3/$38 million hitting .220 on a loaded offensive club ,commenting on whats bad for baseball... There are so many layers of eye rolling irony in Cozart's statement, I don't even know where to begin.
  21. Acquiring Machado would be such an anti-Stearns move I don't know why anyone would waste any thought on it.
  22. Add another guy to the list of cranky, old, get off my lawn! baseball players: commenting on Sergio Romo starting back to back games for the Rays and their general use of their pitchers this year, Zack Cozart said it is, "bad for baseball".
  23. And let him get hurt? No. PH everytime you can. Anderson, Nelson, Guerra. All batting/running. No thank you. Let them just stand there and take the strikeout. My reasoning is that the PH being used is essentially worthless...so I guess using the pitcher let him stand at the back of the batter box for all I care. Why even let pitchers pitch? They could get hurt doing that too.
  24. It's hard to say this trade was horrible. Maldonado posted 645 ops last year and has 684 this year. We took a chance on Bandy, played on upside and the options as noted. With Maldonado, we KNEW what we had. It just didn't work out. Even though Bandy is likely a bust, you can't call it a horrible trade as it's not like Maldonado is doing that much better. I'd be perfectly happy for Stearns to continue to trade fringe mlb "known quantity" guys for players with some upside. I don't think we have a single positional player aside from Bandy on the 25 man roster with less value than Maldonado would have had. Arcia is a defensive whiz, Perez and Saladino have been decent and have flexibility, Villar is turning it around and has massive(although increasingly unlikely to fulfill) upside still. I'll also agree with other posters, I'm not sure why Bethancourt isn't taking Bandy's spot. Heck it'd be nice to have Susac around right now. Maybe we can print up a cardboard cutout of Bandy to take his AB's for him, his obp would probably increase. Crappy catcher for crappy catcher? The trade is a push.
