  1. Teams shuttle AAAA guys and utility scrubs between LF and RF all the time, I know there are differences but if those guys can do it I just can't believe the drop off of an above average defender like Yelich going from LF to RF for maybe 1/3 of the games is any deterrent from doing it. I've posted my feelings on the whole doesn't have the arm to play RF before so I won't go into that again. But if we're talking Yelich vs Santana for RF, Yelich is going to get to and catch a lot more balls than Santana will and I'll take that over Santana's arm any day.
  2. There are still plenty of unemployed 1B/OF that could be had for peanuts. No reason for the Yankees or any team to trade one.
  3. I see comments like this all the time. Is his range that bad in RF or is it just because of his arm? If his range is the same and it's just because of his arm, then it's a totally overblown deficiency. I see he hasn't played an inning of RF in the majors and I would assume that is 100% because of a man named Giancarlo Stanton and has nothing to do with Yelich's lack of defensive ability in RF.
  4. If there ever was a guy I was 100% sure made a career by juicing it was Jenkins. Built like a rock and pretty much always hurt. Dropped off a cliff as soon as testing started.
  5. https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2018/03/phillies-sign-scott-kingery-to-long-term-deal.html Unless there are some major changes to the CBA, this will become more and more common you would think. I see zero downside for Philly. If he totally flops the last two years are kind of a hit for dead money at $6M and $8M but probably not that bad considering what money should be worth 3 years from now. Even he's just replacement level this isn't that bad of a deal. For the player, Scott has set himself up for the rest of his life already. And he could hit free agency between 29 and 32 which is still young enough to get another sizeable deal. My favorite comment on the MLBTradeRumors article sums it up for me: "it could either be an incredible steal, a very good long-term deal, or very slight inconvenience."
  6. Choi and Thames are the same guy. No way both make the team. And almost no way Thames doesn't make it.
  7. Read he's not even hitting 90 now. That's a 3 MPH drop from last year. Maybe, dead arm. Maybe, dead career. Either way there's probably better options.
  8. Santana doesn't really seem like their type of player. The reasons they traded him are probably the same reasons they wouldn't be that interested in getting him back. Same with Phillips. Think it had a lot more to do with them just really liking Carlos Gomez and Mike Fiers at the time and having to put together a good package to land them. I'm sure it's some of both but Santana and Phillips are both big K guys and Houston has gone in the other direction. As for now, I don't know where Santana would even play in Houston. He'd probably be in a RF/DH rotation like he is here.
  9. Santana doesn't really seem like their type of player. The reasons they traded him are probably the same reasons they wouldn't be that interested in getting him back. Same with Phillips.
  10. Can't up the payroll because they blew their wad on some fancy concession stands. (blue?)
  11. Definitely would have preferred Bethancourt get a shot instead of Bandy.
  12. Aguilar's nice and all but players of his skill set are a dime a dozen. There's been argument about wanting to keep Choi who is a left handed hitting Aguilar. I hope both stick with the organization but if they don't you can find those guys just about anywhere at anytime.
  13. Signed one of those relievers that signed for 2 years at $6-8M a piece early in the offseason. Maybe Lynn if he would have signed for only 1 year.
  14. Yes please. I love and wear this hat all the time but continuously get “go blue” and other Michigan references shouted at me. As a Wisconsin fan it becomes rather annoying. They need to do a modernization of that logo like the Astros and Blue Jays did with their old logos. I agree with a simple M like that being pretty boring and it does look like Michigan I certainly prefer it to whatever the current one is and the ball and glove logo.
  15. Many teams do a throwback jersey once a week now. It's not just a Brewer thing.
  16. Holland knows he can wait until after the season starts to sign because someone's closer will get hurt or implode and he'll get close to what he wants for at least 1 year.
  17. Yelich and Cain were acquired for 4 and 5 years. Neither move was "all in" or "going for it" but simply making the team better for the foreseeable future. Signing an aging, mediocre pitcher to a multiyear deal for even market value just doesn't make sense right now. I'm sure Stearns and the FO care no more about 2018 than they do 2019 or 2022.
  18. Villar is making $2.5M this year. Practically nothing. I don't know the exact numbers but cutting him before opening day would save such a minuscule amount it's not worth it. I hate Villar as much as the next guy but I have no problem taking a $2.5M chance that he performs somewhere between the 2016 and 2017 Villar.
  19. Is the concern about Hiura's defense about his actual defense or just his arm injury?
  20. I know he's not in big league camp but it's a shame Dillard wasn't somewhere in that video as he's basically been making the same videos for over two years now. I was expecting the Sutersaurus to be on the other side of the fence but instead stupid Hank gets brought back.
  21. Yikes. Are we able to blow $3M on an iffy catcher? This outta make those advocating signing a pitcher that much more ticked off. $3M for Vogt to sit on the DL for a couple weeks really is a drop in the bucket and it isn't going to prevent us from signing anyone else. Stearns has plenty of money to spend on whatever he feels is worth it. And he clearly doesn't feel any FA pitchers are worth it.
  22. Ya, I thought it was kind of weird how they were on almost every day at the start but have gone days in between games lately.
  23. No one is saying he'll be a 4th outfielder and play once or twice a week. At worst, he'll be one of 4 outfielders and play 5 games a week minimum at some position.
  24. My son enjoys Odd Squad on PBS. If you're forced to watch children's programming this is pretty good. Straight up Canadian humour with lots of adult orientated jokes and references. Plus an episode guest starring 3/5 of the Kids in the Hall.
