  1. Pretty much what we should have expected. We just can't take advantage when other teams lose.
  2. Is there any way Counsell pulls Knebel this inning?
  3. Fair/foul plays not reviewable Should have asked for help......inexcusable not to It wasn't really a fair or foul decision. It was deadball or batter interference. I don't know if that's reviewable or not but he should have asked for help. It's a joke he didn't. He had the worst view of anybody to see that play.
  4. Santana, see above How about just don't make an out? I don't care what happens, just don't make an out somewhere.
  5. 8-2 the last ten, gained three games on the Rockies, kept pace with the Cubs, down by a run. That's your definition of crapping the bed? Yes, the way they are playing tonight is crapping the bed.
  6. Rockies lose. Cubs down by 4 and looking like more. And we lay an egg. I know you can't win every game but it seems like every time there's a chance to gain ground they just crap the bed.
  7. The Cardinals are an example that you don't have to be "boom or bust." That gives me hope that the Brewers, under the correct management, can become a franchise that can expect to win regularly. The Cardinals never firesale their MLB team, but they always have a strong farm. They never gut the farm, but they always have a good MLB team. There is a mix somewhere between the "window strategy" and the "continual rebuild strategy" that can lead to prolonged success for a smaller market team. Hopefully the Stearns/Attanasio group can find that successful strategy, and if they do I hope Attanasio signs Stearns to a lifetime contract. I know that wasn't to the topic of "Cardinal pessimism." It's easy to dislike them, but it's hard to be too pessimistic about a team that rarely has a losing season, much less a prolonged stretch of ineptitude like those so prevalent in Milwaukee and Chicago. This is probably what it feels like to be a Bears fan. They hate the Packers because their team can't be like the Packers. The past 20 years or so the NL Central has been generally been pretty bad. Every now and then one of the other 4 (or 5) teams would put together a good year or two but it's really just been the Cardinals who have been consistency competent. Now I'm not saying their success has been because everyone else has been bad but it will be interesting to see how they do the next few years while the Cubs are riding high and the Brewers and Reds become legitimate.
  8. We've scored 4 runs in two games this series and outside of 2 games against the Marlins continue to look like crap on offense. I wouldn't even feel comfortable if the Pirates decided to not use a pitcher and gave us a batting tee to hit off of instead.
  9. Finally read the article and it really doesn't say much. Sometimes Johnson makes a tweak or suggestion, sometimes he doesn't. I'm sure he's made some sort of difference but I think a lot of it is that this is a relatively young pitching staff and they're just naturally growing and improving with experience.
  10. I thought the opinion of Johnson last year was that he was horrible?
  11. right? it's a head scratcher for certain. That seems like the New York ump was protecting his boys on the field. After the play Gerry Davis had a look on his face like, "I'm pretty sure I just blew that call."
  12. Just saw the Thames challenge. Have no idea how that call was blown. Clearly hit the line.
  13. I hadn't thought about that and it really makes sense for the player to not play high school ball if they're good enough for a D1 scholarship. I think the high school schedule is limited to like 24 games (at least for Spring) while traveling teams in the summer are playing 30 or probably much more. Plus the competition is going to be so much better.
  14. Isn't anything over 100 above average meaning he's slightly above average? I don't have an opinion on him one way or the other but it seems like you're misinterpreting those stats.
  15. The Reds are so bad, they tried to lose but wound up getting a 4 game sweep.
  16. Petco and Dodger Stadium are the only other two I've been to. I loved Petco. The downtown atmosphere was great and the stadium has some nice quirks with the beach in the outfield and a park with a giant screen showing the game behind CF. I had never heard any of the bad things about Dodger until well after I had gone there but they were basically true. The seating area and field are nice to look at but the rest of the stadium is pretty much a dump. A woman from the group of people walking in front of us thought someone from our group bumped into her and she tried to start a shoving match over it before her boyfriend pulled her away. Then on the way to our car in the parking lot I'm pretty sure we walked past a knife fight.
  17. Ya, BA seems to have little clue about player acquisitions. He spent a chunk of time during the Reds series talking about how Scooter signed there because he was born there and was comfortable with the area. Completely ignoring the fact he was a waiver claim and had zero say in his destination.
  18. I don't know if I'd say 2016 was exciting, more like hopeful. The fact that that year could be considering a "good year to be a fan" by anyone shows how embarrassing our history is.
  19. Yeah my mistake, I was thinking the 25 for some reason. That still doesn't explain how Wilkerson is eligible just from designating Rivera when Wilkerson was not on the 40. He was in the organization prior to September 1st.
