  1. Garza's stats through the first 3 innings: 3.00 ERA 1.29 WHIP 6 k/9 3.3 bb/9 .241 BAA Not amazing but not trashy either. Garza can start a game, you just can't let him go a second time through the lineup. With as many pitchers as they have now I'm guessing they're going to piggyback Garza with someone, Suter, Guerra, or maybe Woodruff to limit his innings.
  2. I feel like there were when Salome was a September callup. yes, thank you. in 2009, the brewers had been carrying jason kendall and mike rivera as their primary catchers all season. on 1 september, vinny rottino was recalled, and angel salome had his contract selected. interestingly, that gave the brewers five catchers on the 40-man. that was short-lived, as lou palmisano was designated for assignment five days later. I was actually working a concession stand at Miller Park on September 1 that year. We were shutting down for the night when the 10,000 or so fans started cheering in the bottom of the 9th for what seemed like no reason. We walked out to the seating area to see that it was just Vinny Rottino pinch hitting.
  3. Really, the offense is just making up for all the games we should have won earlier this year but the bullpen blew.
  4. After dominating them with fastballs last night you've got to think the hitters are going up there thinking fastball. So he and Vogt need to be smarter than throwing a meatball fastball down the middle first pitch.
  5. I feel like there were when Salome was a September callup.
  6. More about stacking with non-RHB. If he was riding hot bats Phillips wouldn't be in there.
  7. Not that minor league playoffs really mean anything but how legitimate can they be if half of the playoff roster didn't even play a game for that team during the regular season?
  8. Just realized Wily wasn't called up. Thank god. I know he's not on the 40 man but they certainly seemed to make an effort to have him pitch in the bigs earlier this year.
  9. It's as if having a hitting coach who was a lifetime .245 hitter and a .307 OBP would be a detriment to the offense. Derek Johnson never threw an inning of professional baseball. So, there goes that theory.
  10. Chicago is a short drive from Milwaukee. No reason he couldn't live in Chicago and play for the Brewers like ARam did.
  11. You must have missed all the posts saying "he doesn't throw enough strikes" and "ignore the ERA, he hasn't been very good."
  12. Any chance Craig keeps Hader in there since he's dealing? None. But he should.
  13. Considering there is rarely any contact besides the glove at the plate anymore, I doubt that happens.
  14. Conversation looked like it went have something along the lines of, "Hey, what the hell, blue?' 'Well, he called me a $%$#@@#$#.' 'Ah, nevermind then. We're good.' That's when you tell the ump to grow a pair and see what happens.
  15. I know you gain nothing from arguing but could Craig have acted like he cared any less about Braun getting tossed?
  16. I'm not trying to be combative but didn't it come out a few days later that the reporter took a lot of "creative license" with the Garza story?
  17. There was plenty of talk about concerns about the pregnancy last year. And, personally, I would have no problem with Shaw taking a leave from the team to be with his daughter and wife or anyone in a similar situation. Also, those situations are totally different. Garza would have thrown pointless innings in a role he had never done before on a team that was playing for nothing. Probably taking innings away from young guys which I'm sure plenty of people would have complained about. Shaw is a starter and a middle of the order hitter while fighting for a playoff spot. Frankly, I think the Brewers organization would have come out looking pretty bad if they fined or suspended Garza for choosing his family over pitching a handful of garbage time innings the last couple weeks of a losing season.
  18. Considering his wife is not in a high-risk pregnancy with twins right now (as far as I know), I'd say the chances are significantly less of that happening. (One of my best friends just lost both of his twins due to complications of a high-risk pregnancy, in case you think something like that isn't serious.) Ya, I just can't understand how the Garza haters ignore what was going on with his wife when they whine about him leaving last year.
  19. He's generally been good for 4 innings. Maybe they piggyback him with someone in September. Suter perhaps.
  20. Angels loading up, Detroit unloading. Still trying to move Verlander. Houston gets another OF for some reason.
  21. Yeah and I totally get that stance. And this isn't about being offended or not because I truly don't care too much about a guy like Lucroy. It was just telling that when he didn't get his way, all of a sudden he had comments. He could have very easily left out the part I highlighted. He chose to include that and for some, that's enough to diminish his time as a leader of our club. I want guys that want to battle. Not guys that want to complain or come up with excuses for why theyre not winning. This and his veto of the Cleveland trade because they wouldn't guarantee he would be the full time catcher the next year. He said he wanted to play for a contender and then vetoed a trade to a contender because they wouldn't give him what he wanted. Does anyone honestly believe Cleveland was going to give the majority of the starts to Yan Gomes or Roberto Perez? Even in his crappy season Lucroy is outhitting both of them.
  22. I really have no idea what to think of Nicasio. The other thread about him everyone said there's no way the Pirates would trade him in fact they should resign him. Days later the Pirates are giving him away for free.
