  1. Good for the Sky Sox. Make that park more attractable for other organizations.
  2. He hasn't messed with the rotation and lo and behold it's now being led be 3 guys in the prime of their careers. If Guerra comes back strong why can't this roster compete for a wild card? Then I wake up and there is another Braun to Dodgers report? That's what frustrates me. The system has largely been rebuilt. The lineup today isn't bad. No need to tank now. Even Joe Maddon mentioned that the Cubs have played 3 really good teams including the Brewers who he said were "vastly improved". Briggs must be a politician. He can spin anything to make himself sound right.
  3. Guys who throw 97 but can't find the strikezone are somewhat common though. Stearns has shown when it comes to pitchers he doesn't follow the Melvin strategy of acquiring hard throwers regardless of their strike throwing ability. I'd agree that it's surprising that it was Magnifico over others but ultimately I doubt Damian ever becomes anything.
  4. I would guess that's not allowed. If it were, every 4A guy would want something similar in their contract.
  5. Disagree. A team is not going to promise him a lot of PAs and then cut them off because he is pitching too good. If they have that idea they would tell him up front what their plan is. We are talking about a guy who is considering coming over here to play for pennies. Pull that kind of stuff and he will just leave, good luck getting another Japanese player, and have fun with FAs for awhile. Joe is probably right. I highly doubt any team is going to actually allow him to get anywhere near regular at bats if he is a halfway decent pitcher. Pitchers coming from Japan have had a much higher success rate than hitters. Hideki Matsui and Ichiro are the only ones I can think of that were anywhere near the hitter they were in Japan and both had major drop offs in power and OBP. Now bring over a guy who's team is probably going to have him focus mostly on pitching and who knows what kind of a drop off you get. If he's a sub .750 OPS hitter, is that worth the injury risk? I'd love to see someone give him a chance and I would pull hard for him to succeed but I really doubt anyone will give him a fair chance.
  6. Good question. Did Feliz show a little excitement after striking him out or something? Not whatsoever. Took a few steps toward first then circled back toward the mound. I think he was upset that Manny was so excited over him striking out. There's probably some Rangers bad blood against Feliz too though.
  7. For something that's worn for like 4 hours 1 day of the year, whatever.
  8. Move the Brewers to the NPL. Try to convince him to stay in Japan by making him the highest paid player in the league. That is their best chance.
  9. Much of this also comes down to the schedule. People talk about spring training being too long, but pitchers still aren't 100% ready when the season opens. That's why teams usually get extra days off early in the season. For some reason, the schedule-makers decided to stick it to the Brewers a bit this year and not give them much rest for the first month while facing the best offenses in the league. That mixed with some injuries and under-performance could end up costing us Magnifico. I'm pretty sure the extra days off is because of the unpredictable weather to allow teams to reschedule games early instead of forcing double headers later in the season and the Brewers first 7 games are indoors. They only play 2 outdoor series the whole month.
  10. Yes I THINK food can be opened items, but liquids must be closed. Liquids have to be sealed. I have yet to see any food get turned away. A few years ago we sat by a guy who brought in a whole bucket of KFC.
  11. I'm not being combative, but why? What does he do that you like? For me? I think they play off each other very well. Good overall knowledge about players, rules of the game, strategy. And nice balance between game talk and general nonsense and fun banter. Plus, they walk the line of being homers about perfectly for me. BA is the exact opposite of a homer. Like I said in my post that started all this, he spends a good deal of time talking about how awesome the other team is. Sure, you need to talk about your opponents strengths but he's been talking about the Rockies like they're the greatest offense in the history of baseball.
  12. I've listened to others. I like a lot more than BA. There's some I don't like. Anderson is such a nationally touted guy but his picture is in the dictionary next to the word vanilla. I look forward to the day when he finally becomes too big for Milwaukee and he moves on. Hopefully taking Rock with him. If the alternative is Daron Sutton, I'll take BA every.single.time. I could go either way on that. Daron could at least be entertaining sometimes.

Do you know who is next on the depth chart? It's not Augie, Davey, or Cashun if that's what you're getting at. I'd assume Dillard's the next up.

  15. Manny Pena Manny Pena Manny Pena Manny Pena. How can one freaking letter in a 4 letter name trip you up so badly? Even though people keep telling me he's a great broadcaster, I still don't see it. BA rarely offers anything interesting or entertaining, mispronounces names, and says the most pointless things to fill air.
  16. I don't know what's been more frustrating in this series: the Brewers blowing games or listening to Brian Anderson go on and on about how awesome the Rockies are.
  17. Guerra injury. #BrewerLuck
  18. I'll give him a pass on defense for a while at a somewhat new position but he's the same dumb baserunner he was before so far.
  19. For me it's not really about Diaz. It was claiming a couple nothing, 4A, filler types that could be had at pretty much anytime for nothing over protecting anybody. And then just letting them go on waivers.
  20. Really needed the room to claim Geltz and Parker. Oh wait, they were let go for nothing.
  21. Considering winning as many games as possible isn't really the goal of the team right now, I doubt they make any moves to specifically address it.
  22. ...what. Cutler was entrusted as the franchise AB, the most important position on the team, cost franchise QB money, and the team gave up multiple high picks to acquire him. Villar is a 2nd baseman in a much more team oriented sport, makes league minimum salary, and the Brewers gave up Cy Sneed for him. But yeah, other than that, they're the same, though I doubt Stearns is going to be fired on the basis of acquiring Villar for Snead. The hatred for Villar is so over the top. Yes, he can be a frustrating player. Yes, he needs to work on the fundamentals of his game. He's also a very good player that missed being the first 20/60 player since Rickey Henderson by 1 HR, and put up a 3 WAR, all at the young age of 25. There is a good reason we offered him a 20M extension. He was 24 on opening day last year. A 24 year old MLB infielder that puts up a 3 WAR and we want to run him out of town for his mental mistakes. Or maybe, I don't know, seeing as how he's really young and talented and started playing at a high level at a young age, and we're a rebuilding club, we could maybe work with him on the things he does need to work on and have some patience with him. My goodness. Its. The. First. Game. It's Briggs, would you expect anything else?
