  1. He's not being aggressive, he's being reckless and stupid.
  2. Rivera wasn't brought up and anointed the starting short stop pushing a guy who's having a great year to another position. I don't really think it's a huge deal but I can understand what those posters are saying.
  3. This mainly falls on Villar but I agree. Sedar looked like he was doing nothing to help him out.
  4. How would it get nixed? He's played a game for them and passes the physicals needed. Just happened with the Padres and Marlins.
  5. First Arcia at bat I've seen and I agree with everyone else. How has this organization let him get to the big leagues with a stance like that. He looks like a teenager playing slow pitch softball.
  6. Please refer to the countless other posts that have addressed this topic. A Lucroy extension would not be smart, he's just about to leave his prime. And the Dean Taylor comment must be a joke, right?
  7. The way you describe him, he sounds like a halfway decent starting catcher. Catcher is an incredibly shallow position across baseball. We've been spoiled having a good one with Lucroy.
  8. And hitting .241/.311/.408 at age 29 MLB is trending younger. Re-signing/extending a lot of our players is part of the old paradigm and very much a Melvin move. I doubt we'll see Stearns do a heckuva lot of that. Controllable young talent is how you sustain success in today's MLB. After 5 years, trade a player for two top prospects and keep on rolling. Not to say a Brewer player won't get extended. But you don't stockpile Middle Infielders & athletic outfielders if your plan is to extend guys a lot. I would think if they do extend someone it'll be a pitcher, and they'll prioritize money towards international signings. And extending all glove no hit middle infielders just isn't really smart. Alcides Escobar, Andrus, Simmons, all guys who aren't worth their extensions.
  9. Good lord when you think you have a point you really like to pound it home. Khris hits homers, we get it. But pretty much sucks at every other facet of the game.
  10. I'm pretty sure you're confusing Turner with someone else as Turner was part of a prospect laden 3 team deal.
  11. Corey Hart and his crowd pleasing long foul ball.
  12. I was just thinking that maybe Stearns likes one of the younger short stops more than Arcia so service time isn't a big deal for him. And hopefully Arcia proves an adequate major leaguer and he can be traded in a couple years. Probably not, but maybe.
  13. I think you're overestimating how many casual fans know who Orlando Arcia is. Don't think the promotion in and of itself sells any appreciable number of extra seats this year. If he hits .400, people will buy more tickets and it is clear promoting him was the right call in the first place. If he hits .200, most people will remain oblivious and not buy the tickets they weren't buying anyway. I think this is first and foremost a baseball move. Let the big league coaches work with him, let's see what the Brewers have, and people here are happier because Ramon Flores gets less playing time. Ya, your casual Packer...I mean Brewer fan really has little clue who Arcia is. And the fact that he's a glove first, light hitting short stop is going to make those fans care even less. He's been getting a good bit of hype and when he comes up and hits .260 with 1 homer the rest of the year those fans will lose interest in him because they won't understand his glove is what make him special. As for the move itself. I don't get it. Just doesn't make sense to me to bring him up at all this year.
  14. Surprised I haven't seen a post about this one. Maybe because it was reported a half hour after the deadline had passed. The Pirates sent Liriano, Harold Ramirez, and Reese McGuire to Toronto for Drew Hutchison. Seems like Pittsburgh just wanted to get rid of Liriano.
  15. I was reading through a Facebook friends post about the trade and, of course, most of the commenters know or understand nothing about how baseball works but the guy that took the cake was the one complaining that Mark A is your typical, cheap Brewer owner who only made the trade to save money. I thought about responding to that for about two seconds before I decided it wasn't worth my time or sanity.
  16. Any player having a bad 122 PA at any level is not a cause for concern. Especially when those are his first 122 PA as a professional.
  17. If there's any conspiracy theory it's that Cleveland got cold feet after giving up what they did for Miller and then made unreasonable demands of Lucroy to get him to veto.
  18. ? Pretty darn good discussion if you ask me. You must have just skipped all the posts calling other posters stupid or saying "you don't understand baseball" and calling Stearns an idiot.
  19. Jeez, trade Jeffress and make Lucroy a throw in at these prices.
  20. And this thread is turning into a pissing match again. Let's just get this trade done so we can all move on with our lives already.
  21. Gattis has a career sub .300 OBP and for a power hitter has a rather pedestrian .770 OPS. Not to mention he'll be 30 this month. I personally have no interest in seeing anymore of these all or nothing hitters in Milwaukee, Gallo included. The game has changed and while homeruns definitely have value you need to be getting on base in your other at bats too. I guess he's an upgrade over Maldonado, and Pinto, and whatever random catchers we'll be running out there the rest of the year but he just doesn't really bring that much value, especially long term.
  22. I would love to see it. Musgrove may start tonight because Fister's wife is supposed to have a baby. He's the real deal. Reed is going to be great. That would probably sting the most. But it gets the Astros Luc and not the Rangers, so I'm all over it. I wonder if the Brewers would want Castro or Gattis back as well. Oh hell no on Gattis. He can't play defense at any position and can only hit homeruns. Our front office has finally (mostly, Carter excluded) moved past their love for that type of player.
