  1. You probably don't see it denied because it's in a commercial. Do you know that for a fact or are you just guessing? Even if it were true that would only account for plays that were the 3rd out.
  2. It's really not. The rule states that even if you're out of challenges you can go out after the 7th and make a suggestion that the umpires should look at the replay. They don't have to grant it but they obviously thought it was close enough to take a second look. So then rewrite the rule to call it what it really is - managers get unlimited challenges after the 7th. The whole concept of a 'suggestion' is ridiculous. Obviously any coach or manager at any level of any sport wants any close play ruled against him to be reviewed. It's not a play that would have been reviewed without manager intervention. Wait for the outcry from a team when a crew refuses to grant a review on a similar play. Exactly. It's not a "suggestion" if the umps always review it. And I have yet to see it denied.
  3. No it would have a really negative effect on the Brewers attendance and revenue. How? Almost double the number of home games.
  4. [sarcasm]Just move them to Milwaukee and play in Miller Park when the Brewers are out of town.[/sarcasm] Could that ever actually be an option?
  5. Unfortunately not every team can trade with Dave Stewart.
  6. Just guessing they're this year's fan design winner. I'm just tuning into the game so I'm not 100 percent sure on that. It's been a few years since they did the fan design. I thought these were the retro BP uni's but I don't know.
  7. Villar is approaching Gomez levels of baserunning incompetence. I never thought I would see a dumber baserunner in the majors but Villar is getting close.
  8. Perez and Broxton should be getting at least 4-5 starts a week to see what they can do with fairly regular playing time, even if they were to struggle. This is exactly the type of year where younger players like them should be given a long leash to show something or fail. As for Hill, no team will give up anything of substance to where it's worth giving him more starts than Perez. What's your definition of "anything of substance"? By all accounts ARam would bring back nothing last year and returned a guy who can contribute to the major league team. His .720 OPS was very similar to Hill's .714 this year. And Aaron can play multiple positions.
  9. They wore the grey on Mothers Day with that god awful pink.
  10. Have they even worn the road greys this year?
  11. Every sort of difficult defensive play is amazing to him as well. He's just really annoying overall. Thank you. I'm glad I'm not the only one who's enamored with him which seems to be contrary to the general consensus of this board.
  12. Good lord, hyperbole much BA? A "gutsy" performance by these relievers.
  13. What exactly have Broxton or Flores done when they've gotten playing time? Been flat out horrible is about it. And it's not like Kirk is old either, at 28 he's in his prime. I can't imagine Counsell going to Kirk and saying "Sorry, we're benching you for a guy who's OPS'ing almost 200 points lower than you or another guy who's OPS isn't even above the Mendoza line." Ya, play the young guys but don't play the worse player just because he's younger.
  14. Great call ump. You cost us 2 runs. How can no one of the Brewers bench say anything about that?
  15. If they're only going to play him as a 1B, why not just ask for Chris Carter? Granted Carter's defense is subpar, but he might still be a comparable pure 1B to Lucroy. Mets don't make much sense to me given d'Arnaud's presence. d'Arnaud is the Ryan Braun of catchers. There's talk of moving him to another position because he can't stay healthy.
  16. I wish I could remember when it was but I remember watching lots of baseball games the first couple weeks of the year and batters were striking out on the "high strike" pretty frequently.
  17. I have him on my fantasy team. They are going with some "non-traditional" bullpen roles there. Colome gets the majority of the saves but rarely are they 1 inning. He has a lot of less than and more than an inning saves.
  18. You make so much sense that you should change your username to "Voice of Reason". Seriously Amen to what you wrote. Villar is one of the big success stories so far. A switch-hitter who gets on base with plus baserunning skills who can play 5 defensive positions? He is a big asset to the team moving forward Yes. I can't understand how some people aren't thinking much of Villar and then are also down on the Segura trade. Jean was trash for all but a few hundred at bats here. He goes to Arizona and he's had another couple hundred great at bats but he still has the same terrible approach. He's not a Simmons level defender so his terrible offense doesn't make him a valuable player.
  19. Remember about 10 years ago when there was an emphasis on the high strike? What ever happened to that?
  20. I've always been curious how the computer determines the top and bottom of the strike zone. The corners are fixed points and never change. The top and bottom however changes with the batter. There's a big difference in the zone between Chris Carter and Jose Altuve, how does the computer factor in the difference?
  21. Since Freidman has taken over the Dodgers they are no longer the "throw a couple hundred million at it and see if it works organization." He's certainly going to weight the cost in dollars and prospects versus the production and potential lack of health of Braun and most likely not make an offer the Brewers should take.
  22. Giving more off the corners would be a much better solution. How often do we see guys hammer a pitch that's an inch or two off the plate? Not too often anymore because guys hardly swing at anything but most hitters can still make solid contact on those pitches. You can't say that about the bottom of the zone. Give more strikes in an area where the batters can actually hit it and we'll see the ball in play more and you're helping the batter and the pitcher. Raising the zone does nothing but help the batter.
  23. There's no reason the teams can't pay for them. But they know the cities will always kick in money so they don't need to pay for them. I mean the league itself. A new stadium benefits the league as a whole, not just the home team, so MLB should be throwing in some money too. Even if it's in the form of a loan.
  24. The more I learn about it, the less up in arms in makes me. However, the fact that the taxpayers are possibly being forced to pay for half of a new stadium to replace a 30ish year old stadium (that I'm sure they also paid a good chunk of) irks me. There's no reason that MLB isn't kicking in a bunch of money for these new stadiums instead of the taxpayers.
