  1. Dropping a pitcher for an outfielder is a bit of a head scratcher especially when that OF is another left handed hitting center fielder. It's like they said, "You know, Kirk and Ramon are struggling. Let's bring up another mediocre version of those guys and see what happens."
  2. Good, it isn't all about sabermetric data. The shift has nothing to do with sabermetrics. Teams have been shifting for decades. Pittsburgh just finally decided to do the crazy thing of playing their defenders where hitters most often hit the ball instead of just placing them in the same spots every time. Once every other team saw how well that worked the rest of the league adopted it.
  3. Does the new slide rule apply to home plate as well? You don't have a raised base to stop you like on the bases so you should still be able to take out a catcher on a potential double play, right?
  4. Wasn't Heyward only out a month or so when he got hit in the face? Marlon Byrd I thought wasn't out very long either.
  5. I gave up after 3 paragraphs. It wasn't worth my brain power to read that.
  6. People only remember the times when a hit gets through the shift and not the countless times it takes away a hit. I will agree it makes for awkward double plays and has put Scooter in positions where he has no business making a throw a few times this season. If they are shifting for a RHB it seems it would make more sense to put Scooter at the "3B" spot so he doesn't have to throw across his body.
  7. Ugh. Sucks to be Davies right now. Very little of this is his fault. But that's what happens when you don't have overpowering stuff. Batters put the ball in play and sometimes they are outs and sometimes this happens.
  8. I pretty much never watch ESPN, especially not SportsCenter. I needed some background noise this morning so I turned it on figuring to see baseball highlights. I saw about 30 seconds of baseball in the 45 minutes I watched. I got a half hour of college football scrimmage coverage and 10 minutes of NBA playoffs and EPL soccer highlights. The only baseball I saw was during the top 10 plays.
  9. I think the question should be "Why Taylor in CF in 2016"? What exactly has he proven more than any of the guys at AAA? I understand EY and Pressley offer nothing for the future of the organization and Reed might not be a CF but bringing a guy up from AA who hasn't put up good numbers since rookie ball seems like the wrong move for all involved.
  10. I was half paying attention last night but did BA say he was going to be gone till mid May? Is he doing NBA playoffs?
  11. I can't believe no one touched this post from earlier. I didn't realize Dusty Baker posted here.
  12. Typically when it comes to mechanics I trust that professional coaches know what they're doing. Having said that, Wily has way too much unnecessary movement in his delivery. He's got a big rocker step and shifts his weight back which makes him unbalanced when he gets to his balance point and then bends his leg before he breaks his hands which makes the rest of his delivery totally unpredictable and his release point all over the place. I don't know if I've seen a big league starting pitcher with less control of his fastball than Peralta. If you can't command your fastball, the rest of your pitches are irrelevant. Just ask the revolving door of closers Milwaukee has had in the last decade. This surprises me because Derek Johnson is supposed to be a mechanics guru. Has DJ not spotted these flaws or is Wily just making no effort to fix it?
  13. He's getting paid whether he gets in shape or not. I don't see a whole lot of motivation to do so. Especially for a team that has (rightly so) dumped on for most of his tenure with them. And I don't see getting traded to a losing team motivating him either.
  14. No thanks. Let the kids play.
  15. I know the feeling. And there's absolutely no negotiating on anything whatsoever. Probably the only industry where the customer can't get any sort of break through haggling, complaining, whatever. To continue to keep the long story somewhat short, I switched to another brand of insulin because a diabetes educator told me it would be cheaper with the company's co-pay card. Well, it wasn't because my insurance doesn't even cover it and the company's rep doesn't even know how his own company's card works. The DE then called me and told me about a new brand that just came out and would be even cheaper with that company's co-pay card. So this drug actually cost what it was supposed to cost but the pharmacist told me the co-pay card pays $500 each time because my insurance doesn't cover it either. So that company is practically giving me their new drug for free and I'm assuming working the price difference into other drugs. The whole is industry is just so corrupt and I'm beholden to them for the rest of my life.
  16. Catchers get called up and sent down, cut and signed by someone else all the time. If AAAA scrubs and veteran fodder catchers can come in midseason and work with a staff, Lucroy should be fine. If a team is in the playoff chase and their catchers all suck, no GM should hesitate to think about Lucroy.
  17. What the Astros and Blue Jays have done is fantastic. The Brewers need to do something similar with the old Braves M, which I believe was the first logo when the Pilots moved to Milwaukee. While I like the ball and glove logo it's just goofy looking to me and screams 80's...the bad parts.
  18. Apparently Blaine Boyer spent his offseason with Adam LaRoche in Southeast Asia as undercover agents in the sex trade industry.
  19. Based on what? You can bet if he wants to come back to MLB there are plenty of other clubs willing to give him more money and years than the Brewers. I'm not sure why the Brewers would want him either. He'll be on the wrong side of 30 and has never at any level or league played 1B. I think the organization has moved past the point of just shoveling anyone there.
  20. The Dbacks unis are definitely out there for MLB. They look more like a college or high school uniform. I do like them though except for the orange gradient at the bottom of the pants. That is just stupid.
  21. Had to spend the afternoon on the phone with drug and insurance companies because, long story short, they all suck. I knew I wasn't going to get anywhere with the insurance company but I thought if I was angry and annoying enough it might help. It didn't but it did help to get some things off my chest.
