  1. If mods feel this is inappropriate please delete. I have an eBay store and sports collectibles and memorabilia is probably about 75% of my inventory. I'm just looking for some input from people who shop there to help me improve my store. What kinds of things do you search for or are interested in? Also, what things do you look for in a listing that make you more likely to purchase an item that your interested in? Any other feedback you might have would be helpful too. Thanks!
  2. Currently we have three openings in our fantasy baseball keeper league. Our league has been going for about five years, with a league constitution that is very in depth. Many of our members are also on this site and brewerfan. It is a twelve team league, with a $50 entry fee, and payouts to the top three teams after the playoffs. The scoring system uses ten categories split between hitting and pitching. The league format is that you get to keep up to $125 worth of player salaries per year. The remaining roster is filled with an online auction that we are tentatively having around Easter weekend. You will have first choice of any teams remaining. Plenty of talent is on all of these teams, and I can send out team information to anyone interested. We are hoping to get the spots filled this week, so please pm me if you are interested.
  3. I imagine this is what happened when the NHL went to a salary cap 10 or so years ago and when the NFL did the same 20ish years ago.
  4. This makes more sense to me than the current system. The way it stands every player gets to have some sort of say in how much they make except for pre-arby guys who are just given a contract based on whatever their team wants. You're still going to have utility players making the same or close to superstars like deGrom but at least their frustration will be with the league or the union instead of their own team.
  5. Does Denson project to be a good enough hitter to be an everyday 1B? If not, a guy who can only play 1B and isn't a great hitter is a pretty useless player. Might as well see if he can play the OF and make himself more useful.
  6. Is there a reason Pinto has gotten more time at 1B than C? Maybe it's just to get him AB's since they need to prove Lucroy is healthy. Otherwise that's a very Melvin-esque move to just put anyone at 1B.
  7. So if he hasn't signed can he participate in Spring Training?
  8. I don't think anybody hates the dog. I think people hate that the dog has been shoved down our throats. I hate the dog. And all dogs as a general rule. Especially the ones that live across the street and bark all day long.
  9. On the one hand they have injury issues in the rotation with Anderson, Ryu, and McCarthy. On the other hand none of these guys is out for the year so are they going to be willing to give up anything worthwhile for something that isn't a dire need. Worst case scenario for them is they bring up Urias for a month or so or grab some vet who gets cut at the end of camp and roll with him. Bronson Arroyo comes to mind. Although he seems like the kind of guy that Dusty Baker would keep rolling out there every 5th day no matter how bad he is.
  10. So has the whole Maverick Phillips has a funny laugh thing jumped the shark already? I feel the same way about it as I do Hank.
  11. Bundy has shown zero ability to stay healthy and rarely do pitchers who start out that way find health the rest of their career. While the talent is tantalizing it means nothing when you're on the DL most of the time. I would not give up Braun one for one for Bundy. To me, Bundy would basically be a throw in to any trade with Baltimore.
  12. Slightly off topic but still relevant, how much longer is the Phoenix area going to grow? The end of the boomers are getting near retirement and a good chunk of them will probably end up there but what after that? Also, as the first wave of retirees starts to die are there going to be enough young people moving there to replace them? I don't know if anyone really has an answer for that but I'm just thinking of the last time I was there which was 5 years ago I couldn't believe all the construction and expansion that was going on. That bubble burst has to be in sight, right? They're going to run out of people, money, or desert at some point. I bring that up because the taxpayers are going to be paying for a big part of this or any other team's complex. Is the public money going to be there for this or more importantly will there be the public support especially when a large part of the population is on a fixed income. I'd assume the same issues would arise in Florida.
  13. Yup, 30 games. He went from 45 to 30 by agreeing not to appeal. I still don't like the precedent this sets by suspending players without conviction or even charges being filed. Jose Reyes has got to be suspended for at least a full season based off of this.
  14. Garza is starting opening day. No one in the current rotation screams ace and Garza is the vet, therefore he gets it. And whoever starts opening day won't make a difference anyway because Bumgarner will dominate the Brewer offense.
  15. Everyone talks about how horrible the Maryvale area is. I've been there twice, only during games, and it certainly doesn't look like a high class area but I've never felt unsafe there. Has there ever been any issues with players or fans and the locals? I mean there are multi-millionaires and their very expensive cars and gullible midwesterners around for a month and I can't recall ever hearing of any incidents.
  16. The strike zone is clearly defined but each umpire has his own "interpretation".
  17. Who are the 5 because I count 6 in the running. Garza Anderson Nelson Peralta Jungmann Davies
  18. That's what I was thinking. Trying to define it makes it too confusing, if that makes sense. It should be up to the ump, was the runner trying to make a legitimate slide into the base or take out the fielder? Most of the time its obvious. Same as the catch rule. There are way too many variables involved in the NFL catch rule. A catch is a catch. You know it when you see it. One thing about this slide rule I don't really see addresses is the late slide. The way I read it as long as the runner doesn't slide through the base he can slide as late as he wants. Those can be just as dangerous as sliding to one side to take out a fielder. Also, does what the fielder does have anything to do with how the rule is enforced? I'm thinking that Tejada slide from last year. Utley's slide was certainly questionable but Tejada was put in a weird position from the circumstances of the play.
  19. This. Not even worth trying to figure out the regular season order at this point.
  20. They're definitely not youth sizes. The tags say Medium and they fit pretty good on me.
  21. Probably. My wife has constant contact with me but won't get sick. Post on the same internet message board as I do and you'll contract my disease.
  22. If Melvin was still around maybe but a low OBP, no defense corner outfielder has not been Stearns MO so far.
  23. I'm sure they are but the 40 man is full or almost and there are a number of out of options guys and I don't see a whole lot of guys that are obvious cut candidates.
  24. I think the phrase you are looking for is "utterly stupid." I thought last year was confusing which was the first time my wife and I filed jointly and included my 6 months on Obamacare. This year I have worked as a W2, a 1099, and have an online store. I also have investments in mutual funds and individual stocks that my parents got for me when I was a kid. Please just send me a bill instead of making my wife and I take hours to figure all this stuff out and hope we do it right so we don't get audited. And I'm not going to pay someone to do something I'm legally required to do because it should be easy enough that I shouldn't have to.
