  1. The Brewers play what 16 games against Cincinnati? And another 6 or so against the Phillies. They will go at least .500 against those two. That should keep them from getting 100 losses. If anyone's going to lose 100 it's the Reds who have a team consisting of Votto, the ghost of Jay Bruce, and a bunch of nothing.
  2. Capuano cleared waivers like 5 times last year. I would lol at any team that would decide to claim in this year.
  3. That map puts me right near the 6-8 and 12-18 line. Still, I can't see the predicted temps supporting that much precipitation as snow.
  4. I'd be more upset if they held on to him and got nothing but a comp pick back. That's such a Doug Melvin move to have a super talented, cheap, just about to leave his prime player on a losing team. The concussion concern is real. It took Justin Morneau a few years to get over his. Joe Mauer has admitted his concussion has effected his vision and Mauer's came from a foul tip. Lucroy's already had one which means he's more susceptible to others.
  5. The forecast says a foot here but temps in the mid to lower 30's. I don't know how you can get a foot of snow when it's that warm.
  6. [sarcasm]Hey, he's been terrible for two and a half seasons but these two weeks worth of spring training at bats have turned him around.[/sarcasm]
  7. Broxton has to make the team now. Between Kirk, EY, and Presley I think you just flip a coin. I would give EY the edge because of his defensive versatility and switch hitting but his bat is brutal. Like Segura brutal. Kirk and Presley have put up pretty similar career MLB numbers - 94 and 92 OPS+ respectively. Neither has had a great dWar but Kirk's is at least positive and he does have one good season of hitting to his credit. As long as they don't straight platoon and give Broxton only 25ish% of the PA I don't think it really matters who they go with.
  8. Does it mean anything that Lara has played with the High A team the last two days? Hasn't it been consensus here that he'll stay in Arizona after camp breaks.
  9. Saw that too. Means they will have a new catcher in a few days. Maybe not Lucroy but somebody will be brought in.
  10. Obviously this is serious and his own well being is more important than baseball but plenty of players have come back from similar experiences. Marlon Byrd, Jayson Heyward, and Giancarlo Stanton come to mind.
  11. Tomorrow night my wife and I are going to see The Who at the Bradley Center. I bought the tickets over 18 months ago and it is probably the longest I've ever waited for something. Super stoked to see them for the first and probably only time.
  12. I don't think the old regime would have viewed him any differently. Wilkins is this year's version of Matt Clark and old regime never went overboard to keep him in the big leagues. I think..... and I may be wrong here, but my guess is that he's referring to the fact that Counsell spoke very highly of Wilkins during ST. Counsell basically said Wilkins is the "next guy up" if something happens to Carter injury-wise. (or possibly if Carter falls flat on his face.) I'm really not all that worried about Andy Wilkins getting too much playing time. If it happens it's because Carter is hurt, or sucking so bad that he's not justified in playing. Even if Wilkins does play, he's not a long term option, so I'm not going to get too bent out of shape over it. No it was because he's an older guy with little upside and put up pretty good spring numbers. Doug and Ron always needed a pointless veteran on the roster for whatever reason. Given the lot of those type guys in camp this year I shutter to think what the opening day roster would look like with those two still in charge.
  13. Glad to see Wilkins optioned. Under the old regime I feel he would have made the team and played way too much.
  14. Signed with St. Louis as expected.
  15. Listening to Brian do tournament games reminded me of one of my biggest peeves about him. Whenever he tries to sound excited it comes off as fake and forced.
  16. The actual tour part is nothing spectacular but yeah, far & away the best bang for your buck as far as samples go. If you're looking to get drunk for cheap, do this one. I thought the tour was ok but would have been better with less belligerent drunks.
  17. I'll be in the market for some power tools this spring. I'm not a carpenter by any means but I do a lot of small projects around the house. What I need and would use the most is a miter saw. After doing some research I think I've found the one I want but it's more than I really want to pay. Is there a huge difference between name brand power tools and cheapo generic? I would assume you get what you pay for.
  18. After seeing Baites' totals I figured it had to be a bad appearance or two. Then I clicked on the game log. Wow. Every time he took the mound was a disaster. I didn't think it was possible for a professional pitcher to pitch so bad consistently. It's one thing if a guy gets hit around or can't find the zone, but he somehow did both giving up gobs of hit while walking everyone and hitting everyone else.
  19. i can't recall a brewer who was likely ticketed to the minor leagues (such as barrios) ever being put on the 60-day disabled list before opening day. it likely stems from the team's reluctance for that player to earn major league service time (and pay) while on the disabled list. I vaguely remember a player winning a complaint against the Brewers forcing him to be added to the 60 man during extended spring training since his injury occurred with the major league club. I sort of remember that too? Was it Kintzler?
  20. Please no! This is the complete opposite of what they should be doing. A 30 yr old OF with a .464 OPS last season?!?! .642 for his career? Pretty clear he was an insurance guy if they had a rash of injuries, didn't like what they saw from the young guys, etc. If EYJ makes the 25, then I honestly don't know what the plan is here. (And don't tell me he can always be traded. He is what he is at age 30, which isn't much. No upside like the younger guys. If Rivera doesn't make the team I could see EY sticking around since he's also an infielder.
  21. Outside of top prospects I feel like minor leaguers don't do much training in the offseason. I'm sure a lot of them get jobs instead. I remember going to a T-Rats game a couple years ago and sitting front row by the visitor on deck circle. I couldn't believe how scrawny many of the hitters looked. I remember the CF looked like he'd never touched a weight in his life. Baseball is such a sport that you can be pretty succesfull in high school and college without great physical strength.
  22. If you're just selling here and there the fees will probably kill your desire to sell more. In my case, I have a store and I'm a top rated seller (power seller now). I get free listings and discounts on fees for having a store and shipping discounts for being a top rated seller. The fees aren't a big deal on my bottom line, especially when compared to the overhead of having a brick or mortar store.
  23. Lucroy looks 100% healthy; is swinging the bat very well. You'd think someone would pull the trigger and offer what Stearns wants All it takes is one harmless looking foul tip and he's done. He needs to be moved sooner rather later.
  24. Neither Hill nor Villar is going anywhere anytime soon. Tejada is going to the Cardinals, that is the only possible ending.
  25. Which I addressed. There is a huge pushback against tax payer funded stadiums for pro sports teams right now. I don't think it matters how much, any city that tries to use tax payer funds for a stadium is going to get a lot of opposition to it.
