  1. When did Rickie Weeks become Rickie Weeks, Jr.?
  2. I paid for the sports pack on Directv which gets me FSN Wisconsin. Then I don't know. After I logged in with my Charter info I had a bunch of soccer games I couldn't care about and the Brewers listed somewhere in the middle of them.
  3. How did you get the Brewers game? I just went to that site and cannot find it. You only get your local game and I believe you have said that you live in Iowa so I would assume you only get Chicago games.
  4. Hey, we didn't run into an out at the plate there. Let's just end the game now and count today as a moral victory.
  5. Toronto went from down 1 in the top of the ninth to up by 1 and then game over losing by 1 after Jose Bautista's slide at second was ruled illegal on replay and therefore a game ending doubleplay. The slide itself wasn't the problem as he slid early and both feet went right to the base but he grabbed for the fielders leg. Heck of a way to lose a game and was definitely the right call. Probably would have been the right call before the rule change too but it almost certainly wouldn't have been called without the offseason emphasis. Also, Toronto manager John Gibbons said his team might wear dresses to tomorrow's game because that's what baseball is becoming.
  6. The bullpen is going to be a continuing carousel of characters all year long. I wouldn't be too worried about who is or isn't in it at any point.
  7. I can live with batters striking out and pitchers giving up homers but the baserunning (whether on the manager/coaches or players) is still crap. Two games in and three stupid outs on the bases already.
  8. Was hoping you'd chime in. When you say they make most of their money on Amazon, is that total $ or is that margin? I'm pretty sure that eBay charges lower commission (I've sold a few textbooks on Amazon the last couple of years and my net take seemed to be at lower % than what I sold on eBay), so I'd think that the higher margin would be selling on eBay. Amazon makes it harder to see competitive sellers, and the seller they showcase/quote on the product page isn't always the lowest price, so maybe sellers can charge a higher price on Amazon. Regardless, I just bought some personal care products on eBay for ~$95. Would have cost $120 on Amazon. I don't sell on Amazon so I don't know much about it but I do know that they charge the seller more in fees (30-40% I believe compared to the roughly 8% it costs me on eBay) and they have a lot more rules for sellers. The sellers I know sell more items on Amazon than eBay and they say it's because Amazon has more users and actually promotes itself.
  9. Whoo hoo. It's 1 inning in which he got out such [sarcasm]great hitters[/sarcasm] as Salvador Perez and Omar Infante. I'm not sweating his loss in any way. We'll see what goes first: his shoulder or his control. Either way I doubt he makes it through 2016 as a productive reliever.
  10. Which should also help his already minuscule trade value.
  11. I'm glad to see that they finally starting making money after nearly 20 years. But I wish everyone that refused to shop at Wal-Mart would also see that the biggest perpetrator of the business strategy is Amazon. I'm not a WalMart hater at all but Amazon does at least have small businesses and individuals selling to put money in their own pockets not just one family. In the online resellers groups that I'm in many sellers sell on eBay, Etsy, and Amazon and make most of their money on Amazon.
  12. I'm not sure if you can take anything away about the hitter's approach. Bumgarner was pretty off. It was nice to watch though.
  13. I hate politics but I often find it very entertaining. I'm loving all the commercials this year that say by voting for so and so, you're actually voting for someone else. Nothing is a better reflection of the current state of American politics than encouraging voters to vote for someone they have no reason to vote for other than because they don't want someone else to win.
  14. Cardinals are in last place behind the Brewers. Let's just call it a season.
  15. Based off of the title I expected that article to be the 1000th article about the dwindling popularity of and participation in baseball so I was pleasantly surprised to be wrong. However, the article read like another "the game used to be better" and "nerds are ruining baseball" article. None of those pitching numbers will be met again but someone will steal 75 bases, there will be another 40/40 season, and the Cubs actually will actually win a World Series eventually.
  16. Those were the big things and I think there was something about him only listening to his dad for coaching. At this point you just got to let the kid do things his way. He's had two organizations messing with him and the results have been average to below average. If he thinks he's got it figured out let him sink or swim on his own. If his numbers get worse doing things his way I'm sure he'll start to be more receptive to coaching.
  17. Counsell stated that veterans in the bullpen gives the team the best chance of winning games. It must have been an April fools joke because that's a bunch of hooey. Good pitchers give you a chance to win and Capuano and Boyer don't fall into that category. I really don't care who's in the bullpen since they're going to lose a lot of games anyway, and as I've posted before, Boyer and Cappy are just placeholders until guys get healthy or are ready to be called up. Both will be gone by the All Star break.
  18. I guess it's not a bad signing but he's 33 and been cut by a couple teams now. Not really sure what he brings other than minor league depth.
  19. I guess the only issue I see with BF.net are some of the new posters the last few years that are combative and hostile. I don't see how merging with another site would help that. I think this place is great as is but it would be nice to see a little more content that's not just the forum. A thought I had over the winter would be if there were any of the more ambitious posters that would be interested in writing longer pieces or if any of the well-connected posters could get interviews with relevant interesting individuals. These wouldn't even need to be on the old site, they could be sticky's on the forum.
  20. Isn't Maryvale used practically year round for Extended ST, Instructional League, Rookie League, and Arizona Fall League? I don't think the logistics of all that would work out. Same thing for every other ST facility.
  21. I know sometimes pitchers figure it out later in their career's but I think Bauer is what he is. He's doesn't strike out a ton and walks too many. Outside of 2012 his minor league numbers aren't even all that impressive. He's a middle of the rotation guy and that #1 or #2 potential ship has sailed. I guess he'd offer a slight improvement to the current MLB rotation but I think there are guys currently in the system who will be better than he is. I'm not opposed to acquiring him but I wouldn't give up much to get him.
  22. That seems like an awful lot of moving parts to make a AAA team in San Antonio work.
